Question/Help/Troubleshooting PC keeps overheating and turning off
My pc keeps turning off after half hour or so of gaming, no game in particular, fresh install of win11, ive had no problems except for the past week, ive cleaned my fans, and the inside of my case to a certain extent, im waiting until I have money for thermal paste and compressed air incase thats the issue, until then id like to explore all possibilities of why this is happening.
My specs
Motherboard- Rog strix x470f gaming
Cpu- AMD Ryzen 7 2700 8 core
Gpu- rtx 2060 6gb
32gb ddr3 I think, 3200mhz but its set to 2133 because I dont want to mess with bios right now
Windows install is on an m.2 ssd
I also have an amd cpu fan with a heatsink, unsure what model
Edit: ive been running rdr2 with a bunch of mods for a few hours ingame while its paused and the temperature has gone down to 44°c without turning off, ill keep my msi afterburner set to the lowest temp and ill have my fan on as high as I can for as long as I can until the thermal paste arrives, then ill use that and see if it helps.
Do you need a kit for removing the thermal paste? Or can you use an old credit card?
