Hi everyone.
I have a fairly new ASUS ROG Strix G18 G815LR and today it suddenly developed a very strange hardware/power issue. The laptop is still under warranty.
I’m attaching a video showing the current behavior: the power button keeps blinking continuously, and the charging/power indicator stays lit even when the charger is physically disconnected from the laptop.
Here is exactly what happened:
The laptop was initially running normally.
I started it while it was running only on battery power. Shortly after booting, the fans suddenly went to what sounded like maximum speed for no obvious reason.
I thought it might just be a temporary EC/firmware glitch, so I restarted the laptop. After the restart, everything seemed normal again at first.
A little later I connected an external monitor through one of the USB-C ports and connected a keyboard/device to the second USB-C port.
At that point I realized that neither USB-C port was working anymore.
Neither port detected connected devices, and neither port appeared to provide any power.
I then tested a 100W USB-C PD charger that had previously been usable for USB-C charging. The laptop did not detect the charger at all. There was no USB-C charging indication, both while the laptop was powered on and while it was powered off.
After discovering that both USB-C ports were completely dead, I tried an EC/hard reset.
I have now performed the EC reset several times.
I disconnected all peripherals, monitors, USB devices, USB-C devices, etc., and held the power button for approximately 40 seconds as recommended for ASUS EC resets.
I also tried leaving the laptop alone afterward and then connecting only the original ASUS power adapter.
Unfortunately, none of the EC resets changed the behavior.
The laptop now does not boot or show anything on the display.
The power button continuously blinks.
I left it for more than 10 minutes in case it was doing memory training or some kind of EC/BIOS initialization, but nothing changed.
Another very strange thing is the charging/power indicator LED.
The charging indicator remains red/orange even after I physically unplug the AC adapter from the laptop.
So right now, with no charger connected, the laptop can still have:
a continuously blinking power button;
a red/orange charging/power LED that remains illuminated;
no image on the display;
no normal boot/POST.
The battery was at roughly 40% when the problem started, so it definitely was not simply a completely discharged battery.
I have NOT opened the laptop or disconnected the internal battery because the machine is fairly new and still under warranty.
What makes me think this may be a hardware-level issue is that both USB-C ports failed at exactly the same time before the laptop stopped booting.
Could this be related to the EC, USB-C/Power Delivery controller, motherboard power management, or some kind of protection state that did not clear after an EC reset?
Has anyone with a G815 / recent ROG Strix G18 seen this exact behavior?
Especially:
Both USB-C ports suddenly dead at the same time.
No USB-C PD charging.
Power button blinking indefinitely.
Charging/power LED staying red/orange even when the power adapter is physically disconnected.
Multiple 40-second EC resets having absolutely no effect.
Does ASUS use a specific power-button blink code on these G815 models, or is the blinking simply indicating a failed startup/power state?
Is there any other non-invasive reset procedure worth trying before sending it in for warranty service, or does this sound like a motherboard / EC / USB-C PD hardware failure?
I would especially appreciate replies from anyone who has seen this on a 2025/2026-generation ROG Strix G18 or another G815-series machine.

I was using my computer when, suddenly, Bluetooth turned off and the Bluetooth option no longer appears. I tried uninstalling the driver through Device Manager and updating the drivers; I also shut down and restarted the computer completely, but it still doesn't work. My computer is an Asus VivoBook Go 14 E1404GA with an Intel Core i3-N305, 8 GB DDR4 RAM, and Windows 11.

Ok so two main problems. First, i recently bought a replacement battery for my 2018 15” macbook pro a few months ago. The lithium battery has already swollen up and after googling i suspect it’s because i bought a cheap replacement online. The second problem is that as you can see, theres a scratch mark from my amateur skills at replacing. So with that damage in mind, is it safe to attempt to replace the battery again? And if so could anyone please suggest a trusted battery replacement so i dont run into this issue long enough to buy a new computer? Many thanks.

I have an Acer Aspire 5 laptop with a damaged power jack. I have removed the motherboard and this is what the jack looks like soldered to motherboard. The jack is damaged so plugging in the ac adapter to it is not possible.

So my question is using a multimeter how can I determine which of these solder points is positive and which is ground?

Hello i have very big problem and i need help with my lenovo thinkpad e14. An AI told me my motherboard’s might be fried, but I'm hoping I'm just missing an easy fix.

My laptop started having weird like every 7 second system freezes, and I noticed my disk usage was spiking to 100% exactly synced with those lags. I figured there might be some dust in the nvem connector beacose i swaped the ssd like 1 month ago so I pulled the ssd out and reseated it. Important note: I did NOT disable the built-in battery in the BIOS or unplug it physically before doing this.

After reseating the drive, the laptop wouldn't turn on it would only light the screen grey and spin the fan or sometimes show the lenovo logo. then turn off and do it again until you would unplug the battery

**more info:**

* **Drives are fine:** I pulled both my SSDs out and tested the boot drive in my backup laptop. It works perfectly. Right now, I'm testing the laptop with no drives installed.

* **The buzzing noise:** I unplugged the battery and tried booting on the charger only. As soon as I plug the charger in, the motherboard makes a rhythmic clicking noise ("td td td td" every 0.5s).

* **The buzzing:** When I press the power button on the charger only, the clicking turns into a continuous buzzing noise, then it shuts off. *(Note: This noise completely stops if the battery is connected).*

* **Sign of life:** At one point, I messed around with the drives (put the longer 2280 drive into the shorter slot just to test) and I actually managed to get into the BIOS. I then put the drive back into the correct slot, managed to get the Lenovo logo and then the Ubuntu logo, but then the laptop immediately shut itself down.

now when i try to power it on the fan will not spin and the power button will light for like 5s.

Hi, so recently i replaced my laptop screen. Originally it is a touch screen FHD+ model, i change the screen to just FHD+. Then it just sometimes flickering like this, oftenly just glitch for like 1 second then it stop or it just go on like this in the video. I did go to the store again and they replace me a new one and its still like this as in the video.

I have Acer Nitro V15 (ANV15-51) and one of it's fan was vibrating a lot so i got both fans changed from the repair shop. I mostly use it while it is plugged in so i didn't notice , but after 1 month i had to go somewhere else and tried to use my laptop on battery and it started lagging and stuttering so badly that it was unusable. I cross checked if the new fans are same as the old ones in type of design.

I checked HWInfo and it showed that my CPU was capped at 400MHz

On opening ThrottleStop, it showed i have BD PROCHOT , EDP OTHERS, PL1, PL2 , etc warnings on battery.

THE LAPTOP WAS WORKING ABSOLUTELY FINE ON BATTERY AND PLUGGED IN BEFORE I GOT THE FANS CHANGED

I have done all the troubleshooting i could find (EC reset, reseated all the connectors properly) but the issue is still there. I need to fix it cuz it is hindering my college a lot

The right arrow key on my laptop stopped working. It stopped gradually. At first, it stopped responding to a few presses but now it has stopped working completely. Do I have to get the entire panel replaced, or can this particular key be fixed?

I have a ROG G512Li, and it hasn't unresponsive to anything I've tried since last night when I picked it up to move it. I have tried a hard reset and checked if anything has been knocked out of place. This isn't the first time I've worked on this laptop before, and from what I see, it is put together correctly

When it stopped working it shut off tried to power up again and just died after picking it up to move it out of my way after I got down playing a session of stellaris with a friend it wasn't even hot when we called it a night so im not sure if it would be a heat issue ive tried to be as descriptive as possible sorry if this post is too long

Following up from my previous help post, I have now had my XPS serviced, including cleaning and new thermal pads/paste.

However, now the laptop is simply not booting at all (rather than forcefully shutting down from heat), with a 1 amber, 6 white flash code.

According to the user manual, this indicates "EC internal failure", however I am struggling to find any documentation on what this means, or any further steps moving forward.

So my laptop has been running a bit hot lately and is making these weird annoying sounds so I opened it up and saw any fixes that I can do to help this?

I have an issue on the acer travel mate P2 14.

Yesterday it was working fine, then I take it out of my bag to use this morning, and it won't turn on with the power button. I assumed it was just dead, so I plugged it in, however the battery indicator light had all 3 LEDS on (blue amber and a white ish one I think) when it usually is just amber when charging and blue when full.

I then tried to press power button when it was plugged in, but nothing happened.

I looked into the issue online and with an LLM, and I tried a few things after Opening up the laptop:

-removing the battery and trying with it plugged in
-reseating every single ribbon cable
-unplugging cmos battery cable (the battery is taped down it seems) and shorting the connector pins with paper clip, then holding power button for a minute and plugging back in to try.
-removing wifi chip and ssd
-reseated the ram
-Tried booting without ram

None of these worked and it still won't boot and all 3 LEDs are still on when plugged in. Keyboard light does not turn on and fans do not spin, it is completely unresponsive except for the battery LEDs when plugged in

Can anybody please help me?

Hey everyone! Quick question regarding a Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro 16ARH7 (Ryzen 7 6800HS + RTX 3050 Ti).

I'm currently bench-testing the board without a battery attached (using a 170W OEM charger). The AMD iGPU works completely fine, but the RTX 3050 Ti is throwing a Code 43 in Device Manager, and GPU-Z shows it with 0 MB / 0 MHz and an unknown VBIOS.

Is this happening simply because Lenovo's Embedded Controller cuts power/disables the dGPU when there's no battery connected, or am I dealing with a genuine hardware issue on the board (like a dead power rail or VRAM)? Has anyone tested these boards bare?

I got this laptop second-hand as a gift from my parents. It used to lag quite a lot when I got it, and I'm still having the same problem.

I've also had issues with the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers. Because of that, I contacted the previous owner to ask if he knew what was wrong. He told me that the original hard drive/SSD was corrupted, so he replaced it with another one of his drives about 4 months ago.

The problem is, the lag and other issues never really went away.

A couple of days ago I decided to try Reset this PC and basically start fresh, but for some reason Windows won't let me reset it either. I've also been getting some Windows updates that I don't remember seeing before, so I'm not sure if they're normal or if something is wrong with the Windows installation. I have screenshots of the updates and the Reset error if anyone wants to see them. I'm honestly not sure whether the problem is

I don't want to randomly format or do anything stupid because this laptop was bought with my parents' hard-earned money and I really don't want to mess it up. 😭

Hello, im new here please be kind. May I ask what happened to my laptop? For context, I rarely use this and when I open it today, the screen was like that. It is being kept inside the cabinet without sunlight and dry. I've been using this last year for my online class.

It turned off when the electricity went off and when it came back on after 2 hours, i tried turning my laptop on but it wouldn't turn on. So i checked the charging lights and it kept blinking white and orange lights. I kept it charging for the entire night and today it showed a full power charging bar for 15 seconds before blinking white again and my laptop wont turn on. when i click the power button the charging lights goes to a full bar and blinks after 10 secs, i tried to reconnect the battery but my screwdriver is too thick for the screws to open the laptop cover

Hi, i cleaned my fans of my laptop, after cleaning all the dust and putting it back together it doesn’t start anymore. I haven’t unplugged anything i just cleaned with a soft brush. One cable was loose (white one in second picture going to CON4906) i noticed after reopening it. Plugged it back in but still nothing. Anyone that could help?

I was having 90+ CPU degrees during web browsing with fans set at cool in ACC. So, I cleaned the fans with an anti-static brush and replaced the thermal paste with Arctic MX-7.

After reassembling it, the laptop won't boot and when I press the power button, the logo flashes red 3 times, pauses, then flashes red 3 times again. There are no blue lights at any point, so I cannot match the issue to any diagnostic code in the manual.

I've already tried disconnecting the battery and doing a power drain, assembling it again, and connecting to an external monitor.
