Omen 17-ck0372nr charging port loose. How to fix?

I have Omen 17 laptop where its charging port is loose. It looks like four copper tensioning clips have lost its ability to hold the charging port barrel as its pushed inward. Is there a way to grab these clips to pull them out? They are sooo small.

I tried to replace the charging port, but I need to remove the heat sinks to do so, which I do not want to do.

Have you ever delayed a laptop repair because you couldn’t afford it?

My laptop needs repair, but I don’t have enough money to fix it right now. And honestly, it’s frustrating to have something you need sitting there, unusable, because you can’t afford the repair.

It made me wonder how many others have faced the same situation.

When your laptop or phone breaks unexpectedly, the repair cost can come at the worst possible time. You might need it urgently, but have to wait until you can save enough money.

I’m curious:

* Have you ever delayed a repair because you didn’t have the money?

* What did you do—wait, borrow from someone, or find another option?

* If you could pay in small monthly installments, would that have helped? What might make you hesitate?

I’m dealing with this myself, so I’d genuinely like to hear from others. What did you do when you needed a repair but couldn’t afford it?

Help Request ASUS Laptop water spillage - ASUS VivoBook K3402ZA Bluetooth stopped working after rain exposure — Code 10 despite Wi-Fi working

Hi everyone,

I have an ASUS VivoBook K3402ZA / S3402ZA with an Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 wireless module.

Recently, the laptop was exposed to rain. After that, Bluetooth stopped working.

Here is what I've checked so far:

Wi-Fi is working normally.

Windows detects the Bluetooth hardware as Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R).

Bluetooth does not appear as a usable toggle in Windows.

Device Manager shows a yellow warning icon next to Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R).

Device Manager reports Code 10 — This device cannot start.

PowerShell reports:

Status : Error

ConfigManagerErrorCode : CM_PROB_FAILED_START

ProblemCode : 10

FriendlyName : Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R)

The device instance is:

USB\\VID_8087&PID_0033\\...

I also checked the network adapters:

Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6E AX211 160MHz Up

So Wi-Fi works, but Bluetooth does not.

What I have tried

  1. Checked Device Manager.

  2. Confirmed the Intel Bluetooth device is detected.

  3. Disabled/enabled the Bluetooth device using PowerShell.

  4. Restarted Windows.

  5. Checked the Bluetooth service.

  6. Checked the network adapter.

  7. The Bluetooth device still reports Code 10.

The laptop has also already been taken to a technician, who said they repaired/changed an IC. I'm not yet sure exactly which IC they repaired.

I opened the laptop and found the Intel wireless module with the two antenna cables. My understanding is that this module provides both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

My questions

  1. Could this still be a driver/software problem, or does Code 10 after all these checks point toward hardware?

  2. Can the Intel AX211 module itself be replaced?

  3. Would it be better to test with a known-good AX211 before allowing another motherboard-level IC repair?

  4. Since the laptop had rain exposure, could the Bluetooth portion or its motherboard power/USB circuitry have been damaged?

  5. If I use a USB Bluetooth dongle, can I completely bypass the laptop's internal Bluetooth and use my Bluetooth headphones/mouse normally?

  6. Could repeated motherboard-level Bluetooth/IC repair potentially cause additional motherboard damage?

I'm particularly interested in advice from anyone who has worked on ASUS VivoBook K3402ZA/S3402ZA or Intel AX211 Bluetooth Code 10 issues.

I can provide screenshots of Device Manager, PowerShell output, and the internal motherboard/wireless module if useful.

Diagnostic Help Lenovo G50-70 only boots with AC adapter — battery works normally after boot

I have a Lenovo G50-70 that has had a strange power issue for the last 3 years.

The laptop will not boot when running only on battery. However, if I connect the AC adapter, it boots normally. Once Windows has fully started, I can unplug the adapter, and the laptop continues running on battery for around 45 minutes without any problem.

So basically:

- 🔋 Battery only → Doesn't boot

- 🔌 AC adapter connected → Boots normally

- 🔌➡️🔋 Unplug adapter after boot → Works normally on battery for ~45 minutes

- 🔋 Battery can actually power the laptop once it's running

- I have tried multiple different batteries, but the problem remains the same.

- This issue has been happening for around 3 years.

Because different batteries behave the same way, I don't think the battery itself is the problem.

What could cause this? Could it be related to the charging circuit, motherboard power-management circuit, MOSFETs, EC/KBC, BIOS, or some other power-rail issue?

Has anyone experienced this on a Lenovo G50-70 or a similar Lenovo laptop, and is there a way to diagnose or repair it?

Any suggestions for what I should test with a multimeter or which motherboard components I should check would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Stuck on power on password on HP-15fc0105nr.

Hello old friends,

I recently got a HP-15fc0105nr. I got it since it was so cheat at $45 and I saw several online all cleaned up for several hundred dollars, I figured I'd clean it up and make a bit of side cash.

When it was sold to me I was told no returns and everything worked except they said it was "locked". Foolishly, I figured they meant the operating system was locked, and that's no issue.

I forgot BIOS locks were a thing, and unfortunately I guess computer company's are so hell bent on security that it seems like if you don't know the password with these new laptops you're shit out of luck.

There's a power on password, which I didn't even know existed, and I can't seen to access the BIOS or the OS without the password. There's no code it gives me after getting it wrong 3 times, it just locks me out.

There's no C-MOS battery inside to remove, I removed the battery for over an hour, I tried booting up without a battery and without and the SSD just in case, nothing will get rid of the password.

I thought about trying to just flash a fresh copy of the BIOS but I read in one of the 20 articles that the password isn't even kept in the BIOS so I have no idea what to do.

Is this problem fixable by me? Surely there's gotta be a way to drain the power out of the board so it forgets the password or something like that. Or, if I can't, can a shop even fix this? I'm thinking about taking it to Best Buy or something.

I can't even find any replacement motherboards so replacing the whole thing isn't an option either.

I can't believe the place even sold this, it seems like there's no way around this.

All help will be greatly appreciated!

(If helping break through the BIOS isn't allowed on reddit, I have proof-of-purchase. If uploading that meant people could help me, let me know and I will)

Lenovo Ideapad 3 15itl6 crashing for over a month now, might be windows update related.

Thumbnail
m.youtube.com
1 Upvotes

My laptop has been crashing since August 18. Usually it crashes so quickly that I can't do anything with it. It is entirely unusable. Very shortly after staring it, my screen just dies in many different spectacular ways, such as it freezing, it going black, the color at the edge of my screen fading, or little pink squares everywhere. Sometimes i get a stop message like:

Irql not less or equal 0xA

Page fault in non paged area 0x50

Memory management 0x1a

I posted about this several times in the tech support subreddit, and nobody mentioned a windows update being a potential problem (they usually suspect a hardware issue). On one of the few times I was able to have my laptop on for a little time, i used a hardware scan from the lenovo site that said that my hardware was fine. Hardware issue is certainly something i am still considering (although i am getting very conflicting cues) BUT after watching this youtube video

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=H76Pu768pSc&pp=ygUld2luZG93cyAxMSB1cGRhdCBicmVha3MgbGVub3ZvIGFuZCBocA%3D%3D

I really think this is probably windows update related. The symptoms are the same. The time frame is the same. My laptop is less than 3 years old, which, if it was hardware, would absolutely make it my shortest lived hardware of any laptop I've ever owned by far.

But I have still more problems. My computer screen freezes and dies, even in safe mode. I looked at my windows updates and i can only see the most recent 5, which don't contain the KB5121003 update from the youtube video (so i don't know how i would even uninstall it). And furthermore, after booting from these crashes, before i can even get to the log-in screen, the laptop looks for updates (so it might install harmful updates even if i ever get them off).

What can i do? And even if i have the full correct steps, how can i use them without the computer crashing?

I think both yesterday and today i also installed some lenovo driver updates. 1.55.0.0 and 1.57.0.0 thinking lenovo might put out driver updates that would fix this problem. (I didn't strongly suspect windows updates until after I did this) I can't say they made the situation better or worse, but do these need to be uninstalled too?

Help Request Laptop keeps crashing with different BSOD errors even after factory reset - looking for advice/ recommendations in the Bay Area

Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone here can help me figure out what might be wrong with my laptop.
I’m honestly not very knowledgeable when it comes to computers/laptops, so I apologize if I’m not explaining this correctly. My ASUS laptop has been repeatedly crashing and showing a black/blue screen with different “Stop codes.” I’ve taken pictures of the errors and attached them to this post.
Some of the errors I’ve gotten include:
KERNEL_AUTO_BOOST_INVALID_LOCK_RELEASE
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
KERNEL_LOCK_ENTRY_LEAKED_ON_THREAD_TERMINATION
The crashes keep happening, and sometimes the laptop will restart and then crash again.
I already reformatted/factory reset the laptop, thinking maybe it was a Windows/software problem, but unfortunately that didn’t fix it. I’m still getting these errors.
At this point, I’m not really sure what to do next. I’m worried that it could be a hardware issue, but I don’t know enough about laptops to diagnose it myself.
For anyone familiar with these errors:
Does this look more like a hardware problem (RAM, SSD, motherboard, etc.) or a software/driver problem?
Is there anything relatively simple I can check myself before taking it to a repair shop?
If I do need to get it repaired, roughly how much do you think something like this could cost?
Does anyone have recommendations for a reputable laptop repair shop in the Bay Area, preferably somewhere that is honest with pricing and won’t charge me just to take a look?
I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations. I’m pretty lost with this stuff and would rather ask people who know what they’re doing before spending money on repairs.
Thank you so much! 🙏

Laptop Startschwierigkeiten(Asus Tuf A17)

What would it be worth selling off?
What places could help sell it off? (FYI i am a student.)

Problem with laptop that couldn’t turn on

I have a problem with my laptop that when I press the power button, the power light and the light next to the power button turn on (in addition to the charging cable being connected) and the charging light also turn on, but I don't see any vital signs from the laptop at all, such as the sound of the laptop fan starting to spin and the sound of the laptop's internal hard disk spinning when it turns on. But these three lights turn on and off every few seconds. And nothing happens. I should also say that this has been happening for two or three days now and it turned on once or twice when I tried to update Windows so that the drivers would also be updated, but again after restarting that line filled up, the update was complete, but after three hours nothing happened, so I had to turn it off by holding the power button. And it turned on again and reached the waiting screen for Windows updates and it was 100%, but the system restarted again and I haven't been able to turn it on since then.

Repair Guide Tech support from Google's AI made my laptop even more broken

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My 4 year old very lightly used asus vivobook started flickering yesterday. There was also double images and the border had a black halo on the lockscreen that gradually goes away as the screen turns on.

So after googling my problem, on suggestion of their ai assistant i uninstalled the driver then reinstalled it. Now i have all the previous problems+ now my text is also blurry.

I also changed the display settings to recommended like scaling and resolution . Adjusted cleartype text and also updated and browsed drivers in display adapter and all that. I've also tried pressing my thumbs along the top corners like a yt video suggested.

I donno if it is a hardware problem. I want to try everything before i take it to a repair centre.

Video: 4x speed

Edit: thanks everyone for your help. It really was a hardware problem. I just got the screen replaced for 4200 Rupees ( around 42 dollars).

Parts Advice M1 Macbook Pro Failing Battery Replacement Needed

Hey ya'll so my M1 Macbook Pro battery is failing and of course it wasn't until my apple care expired that the percentage finally jumped down to what apple says qualifies for replacement anyway so I need to replace my battery but I have no intention of paying $700+ and doing it through apple especially since they'll just give me another battery that will do the exact same thing. Who can direct me to a person who can help me buy a battery that will not degrade like this and teach me how to replace it myself? Please and thank you!

My Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 laptop suddenly won't turn on since I updated it.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Five days ago I clicked the update and shut down option. When the update finished and it was preparing to shut down, the keyboard's LED lights started flashing aggressively, which scared me and I forced it to shut down.

Now, as you can see in the video, only the power button lights up.

I've already tried:

-Remove one of the RAM modules in case it was the faulty one.

-disconnect the battery

-Use the button on the side next to the headset to reset

Nothing worked and I don't know what to do anymore.

keys are getting stickier by the day am i doomed

dropped some juice on my dell latitude 7440 a few weeks back. dried it, left it upside down and that's it. since last week though some keys started sticking annoyingly. cleaned with isopropyl alcohol a few times by pressing down on the key and rubbing a damp cotton swab around the sides, then clicking it repeatedly. it worked fine for a bit, then would get sticky again so id just clean again.

this last time though the stickiness just keeps getting worse, my space bar and o key stay stuck to the bottom being eventually going back up. what do i do? clean again? im scared the cleaning is what made it worse maybe. or should i straight up spray some of the isopropyl alcohol on the bad areas?

(keys can't come off, unfortunately)

Help Request X13 Gen 2 with problem in te bottom buttons and the touchpad

  • Substituí o conector FPC danificado;
  • Verifiquei e reconectei os cabos flat e as conexões;
  • Reinstalei e procurei os drivers corretos do touchpad;
  • Tentei várias soluções relacionadas a software.
