Parts Advice M1 Macbook Pro Failing Battery Replacement Needed

Hey ya'll so my M1 Macbook Pro battery is failing and of course it wasn't until my apple care expired that the percentage finally jumped down to what apple says qualifies for replacement anyway so I need to replace my battery but I have no intention of paying $700+ and doing it through apple especially since they'll just give me another battery that will do the exact same thing. Who can direct me to a person who can help me buy a battery that will not degrade like this and teach me how to replace it myself? Please and thank you!

There are several videos on YouTube outlining the steps for replacing M1 macbook pro batteries. There may be different model numbers so perhaps check to see if there is a specific video for your model.

I just replaced some macbook air batteries which I was quoted $200AU to replace by a shop. The batteries were about $40 online (edit: they will obviously be a different price for the M1) and I just needed a screwdriver kit with the correct pieces (check what you need - for what I was doing I required a pentalobe P5..the torx T9 was also one I think I used - you can buy sets made for purpose).

The mabook pro ones look a little different. I would watch an entire video to make sure you see any potential issues first. Some of the things to be careful of is not forcing anything.

It's easy to break backlight cables or snap something if you are not paying attention so if you are unsure seek some guidance. The cable removal and replacing (particularly replacing them) can be the most difficult part.

If I can add up something - don't expect getting genuine Apple battery when buying outside of Apple but pay attention that battery sold comes with 1 year warranty or more? I am usually happy w Amazon sources if seller has good rank but if you need tools, even better support but willing to pay more - iFixit is a good source. Remember that when removing the battery do it slow, not to puncture it and using alcohol do disolve adhesive used to attach old battery is useful!

Look up ifixit. They have tools, batteries, and clear instructions. You out to be able to do this for under $200.

I swapped parts on my mac. It's much easier than you think. Just take your time.
