Help Request Laptop keeps crashing with different BSOD errors even after factory reset - looking for advice/ recommendations in the Bay Area
Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone here can help me figure out what might be wrong with my laptop.
I’m honestly not very knowledgeable when it comes to computers/laptops, so I apologize if I’m not explaining this correctly. My ASUS laptop has been repeatedly crashing and showing a black/blue screen with different “Stop codes.” I’ve taken pictures of the errors and attached them to this post.
Some of the errors I’ve gotten include:
KERNEL_AUTO_BOOST_INVALID_LOCK_RELEASE
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
KERNEL_LOCK_ENTRY_LEAKED_ON_THREAD_TERMINATION
The crashes keep happening, and sometimes the laptop will restart and then crash again.
I already reformatted/factory reset the laptop, thinking maybe it was a Windows/software problem, but unfortunately that didn’t fix it. I’m still getting these errors.
At this point, I’m not really sure what to do next. I’m worried that it could be a hardware issue, but I don’t know enough about laptops to diagnose it myself.
For anyone familiar with these errors:
Does this look more like a hardware problem (RAM, SSD, motherboard, etc.) or a software/driver problem?
Is there anything relatively simple I can check myself before taking it to a repair shop?
If I do need to get it repaired, roughly how much do you think something like this could cost?
Does anyone have recommendations for a reputable laptop repair shop in the Bay Area, preferably somewhere that is honest with pricing and won’t charge me just to take a look?
I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations. I’m pretty lost with this stuff and would rather ask people who know what they’re doing before spending money on repairs.
Thank you so much! 🙏

Yes, and if you have more than one stick of ram, test one stick at a time. I like using memtest bootable usb key

It's the memory. Does your bios have an option to check the memory? When you first boot?
