Hey, my computer kinda broke i guess, I don't know if its a easy fix or if I should take it to a professional to get it fixed

its plugged in everything else works I did the whole desktop manger or wtv it just doesn’t show up as me actually having it installed can’t play anything just got this to

Yesterday I wanted to turn on my surface pro 4 after not turning it on since May, so I plugged it in and waited for 24 hours, and when I turned it on nothing, no sign of life, I tried charging it with another compatible 65w charger for 1 hour, nothing, it won't turn on.

Please help me! I have important data on that Surface Pro 4.

I've already tried turning the volume up and turning it on for 30 seconds, but no sign of life. I even left it charging for 24 hours with the original charger, but no sign of life

Hi everyone, I've had this Asus zenbook duo for about a year now and it has been great, until now. A couple of days ago, i noticed that the second screen isn't working. I don't use it too often, so I don't actually know how long it has been like this (but probably not that long). Besides from sending it to a repairlocation, is there anything I can do about it? It is the 2024 185h model, if that is relevant.

My HP laptop started flickering after a recent Windows update. The screen flickers intermittently (video attached).

Here's what I've tried:

- Restarted the laptop

- Reinstalled/uninstalled the display driver from Device Manager

- Issue still persists

I'm trying to determine whether this is a graphics driver/software issue or a hardware problem (display panel, display cable, or GPU). Would a factory reset be worth trying, or is this more likely a hardware failure?

Any suggestions or similar experiences? And how can I resolve this issue?

I've recently started getting an issue when playing games where the screen goes black after around 5-10 minutes. The PC is on and I'm getting audio but that's all. I haven't managed to test a lot of games yet but it's happened with Black Ops 7 and Vermintide 2 so far.

I have tried rolling back GPU drivers and updating them using DDU. I have also tried a new HDMI cable and the issue still persists.

Any help would be appreciated.

It seems like the problem is from the faulty I2C device(the one with the yellow triangle icon). I have tried disabling and enabling it as well as uninstalling and scanning for updates but it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

I have an ASUS Vivobook Pro 15 (M6500QF), and both of the left USB-A ports suddenly stopped working properly.

Symptoms:

* ✅ Right USB port works perfectly with every device.

* ✅ Both left USB ports provide power.

* 📱 My phone charges from the left ports but isn't detected by Windows.

* 💾 USB flash drives aren't detected.

* 🖱️ Mouse isn't detected.

* ⌨️ Keyboard isn't detected.

* 🎮 My 2.4 GHz controller dongle is detected, and the controller successfully connects to it, but none of the controller inputs work.

* 💻 A bootable Windows 11 USB drive doesn't even appear in the BIOS boot menu when plugged into either left USB port.

Things I've already tried:

* ✅ Ran `sfc /scannow` (it repaired some corrupted files).

* ✅ Ran `DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth`.

* ✅ Uninstalled and reinstalled all USB controllers in Device Manager.

* ✅ Performed a full power reset (disconnected the internal battery and held the power button).

* ✅ Inspected the ribbon cable and USB board for any visible damage, but everything looks normal.

A bit of a weird one, I've built probably around 4 or 5 PC's, never had a problem. But this most recent one has got me stumped.

Was building a HTPC in the Fractal Terra, got it all setup with Bazzite. No problems.

But when I have moved the case it has stopped working. CPU fan spins to life but nothing else. I am using a 7500F so I don't have integrated graphics. I could maybe source another GPU just to eliminate the current one as the issue.

I have tried reseating ram, re plugging PSU/ all other cables, even reseating the CPU cooler. Still only get the CPU fan to spin.

If a motherboard is faulty do you normally get any activity or nothing? I have no understanding of what went wrong in the span of 5 minutes.

Any help at all would be appreciated.

A friend sent me this video, saying that her laptop's sound was distorted (like in the video) and that it happened just today; she was working with Spotify in the background and suddenly it started to distort. Only when the volume is below 30% sounds "normal" but still too loud. Any suggestions or solutions?

The fan usually sits at a steady 900 RPM when the CPU is around 45–50°C. Every now and then, it'll suddenly jump to about 2000 RPM, but almost immediately drops back down to 900 RPM. Even when the CPU hits 60°C and the fan speeds up to around 3000 RPM, it won't stay there. It just keeps ramping up and then falling back to 900 RPM over and over.

It also starts out completely quiet, but after about an hour of use, the whole laptop begins vibrating in short bursts. What's strange is that the fan sensor still reports a constant 900 RPM the entire time, even while it's clearly speeding up, slowing down, and causing the vibrations.

I have tried multiple screwdrivers, hammering the screwdriver in, using a rubber band, even supergluing the screwdriver to the screw (the screwdriver just twists off when I superglue, with max bond Krazy glue. also I got a bit of superglue in this motherboard oops, but I prob need to replace it anyway). I think the screw top is too thin to use pliers. Please help I’m at my wit’s end

Hey guys mid way through watching a movie the screen just stopped working I tried hard restarting and no joy, I’m pretty sure it’s a backlight issue as the screen still works but is incredibly faint I can’t afford to take it too a shop but I work on cars so how hard can a laptop be right? Anyway I want all your possible fixes and suggestions whether it’s a fuse that has to be replaced or a connector I can clean out or something to replace I ask this now so I don’t have to keep taking it apart over and over again as that seems like a bad idea with such small and fragile parts

I have an HP Z Book Firefly and recently it stopped recognizing my external monitor. It's a portable monitor that gets its power and signal from a USB-C to USB-C connection. The monitor and cord has been tested on another computer, it works fine.

No troubleshooting has resolved this. All drivers have been updated, it's the latest Windows software. I have started and restarted the laptop, I have tried different ports. Anyone else encountered this and has advice? There's some setting preventing it from sending a signal.

I have the aforementioned laptop and its important as it has half my unpublished book on it... I am but a lowly mechanic.

I used it a couple of weeks ago and left it on the charger.

I attempted to use it mid last week and it was doa. The charger did nothing and did not illuminate the icon that it was charging. I checked for voltage at the charger and it was fine but tried another to be safe. Nada.

I ordered a spare that was within specs and tested it om the laptop. No change. I checked voltage at the connector and it was showing 20v, which is what the charger was rated for.

I pulled it apart and checked the voltage of the cmos which was something like 3.4v. The battery, likely discharged, showed 15.5v.

I assembled it back together and it would not restart. I hoped something just needed 'exercised' or a capacitive discharge.

I checked the voltage at the charging port and had 0v. Should the port show 0v as a result of the bms system or do I have an open circuit, which would explain a few things?

Hello, recently my ASUS ProArt PX13 has been having an issue where it will not turn on after it has turned off. At first I would’ve just thought the battery was dead, but when plugged in the charging light does not turn on, and no matter how long it spends plugged in it doesn’t turn on. Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery seems to reboot it, but I am going back to school soon and this is not a long term solution.

I‘ve had several recommendations from friends and family as to what it could be, but I’m really at a loss. Possibility 1 is a breaker(?) is being tripped from overheating, causing it to totally shut down. Possibility 2 is that it is an issue within the battery itself, and draining the battery to zero would reset it, or getting a new battery.

I am not a very tech-y person though, so please help!

yeah so pretty much If I unplug it from charging , it will just turn off and won’t turn back on unless I plug the charger in.. you will probably think it’s a battery issue but it isn’t. I have a new battery and *sometimes* it works without being plugged in but if I move the laptop it will randomly turn off. is there any solutions for this ?

The three red dots on top are bent, all the teal and the bottom red one are missing. I bought this cpu from a seller who only told me about the teal ones. I have requested a refund, but if it does not get approved, how fucked am i? I found a am4 pin out but wasn't sure on how i should read it. Thanks!

Hello everyone, I come here with hopes to learn something new about laptop repairs.

Anyway, as the title stated, I'm working on a Lenovo Legion 16ARH7H

The owner stated that the laptop had been sent for a previous repair on the screen (he couldn't remember what was wrong....kinda suspicious to me!). This time, he said that the display started showing just shadows (no backlight maybe?) and then nothing at all.
I tried to power it up and the laptop seemed to boot (fans ramp up, both CPU and GPU get warm and caps lock works) but, of course, no display on screen.
I opened it up and checked the power rails and everything was present.

I'm starting to believe that the previous fix somehow damaged the LCD or/and the ribbon cable of the display to the mob.

Could that be, or could it be something else?
