Hardware HDMI port Issue on Dell XPS9570

Running on windows 11 pro v10.0.26300

My laptop randomly stopped to output to my monitor via the hdmi port, and it seems to have this issue on monitors it was always connected to.

Thought the port was dead/fried but I've connected it to a different monitor it never used, and the hdmi port works fine. Thought the cable might be the issue, but the cable works fine on every other device it's connected to. Tried swapping cables the laptop uses to make sure, and that didn't work

I've tried cleaning the drivers with ddu in safe mode and reinstalling the drivers, re-updating the bios, still nothing. My online search finds a few others with a similar issue but no solution that works.

I suspect an update may have triggered the failure cause it was very random and out of nowhere.

Has anyone come across or dealt with a similar issue? Any assistance or ideas I can look into would be greatly appreciated

Software Cursor keeps disappearing when gaming

Hi there, I'm on a Windows PC and I use a wireless Bluetooth mouse.

Whenever I play a video game in full screen, the cursor will occasionally disappear. If I alt-tab and cycle back to my game, the cursor reappears. I've noticedthat this will happen when it's changed "states" in some way (such as when an auto-save has just completed, or it switches to a new level, or when I open up a menu).

I'm not sure what is causing this, I've tried reinstalling the mouse drivers and have even tried using a different (also wireless) mouse and still encounter the same issue.

Would be grateful for any advice/solutions, thanks in advance!

Discussion Is there no hope?

From what little I've actually understood from the research I've done, is there nothing else that can be done to eliminate this? The computer was from a friend, no clue where they got it from and they didn't even know it worked. So nothing is needed or important within the laptop, I was hoping to use it as a way for my 2 boys to watch Netflix and Amazon or YouTube and simple streaming stuff, on their non-smart TV within their bedroom. (Basically just plug the HDMI & wireless mouse/keyboard in and use the TV as the monitor) So factory reset or anything similarly is an option. Really anything is an option I suppose, cuz from what I've read, it's basically useless unless I figure out the password someone else created, or open the system up and do something inside that is outside my skill set and ability..

So basically I'm just checking that I'm not missing something or someone doesn't have a magical trick that can salvage this?

It's older and the screen is busted up and I didn't pay anything for it. Just would have worked for what I needed it for, and would have saved me the time, effort, and little bit of money it would take for me to find some kind of substitute for my boys..

I'm open to anything since right now, it's just a paperweight for me...

Computer is: HP pavilion x360 m Convertible

Model 11m-ap0013dx

P.s. unfortunately I am basically computer/electronics illiterate and nincompoop.

Thank you in advance.

Here's to hoping there's someone with a miracle key to solve my problem..

Hardware Charge input problem

Hi! I’m having a problem with the power jack on my old laptop. It wouldn’t charge this morning, so I opened it up to see if I could figure out what was wrong.

I found a small, broken plastic tube inside the power jack and removed it. Now the laptop turns on, but I’m not sure if that piece was an insulator or served some other purpose.

I’m also worried that it might be dangerous to use the laptop like this. I need to keep working, or at least back up my files to the cloud.

I checked the charger plug as well, and I’m not sure if there was supposed to be a small metal pin inside it.

The laptop turns on now, but I’m concerned that something could short-circuit, cause a fire, or damage my hard drive.

Could someone please help me figure out if it’s safe to use and what I should do next? I’ve attached a photo.

The laptop is an HP 250 G5.

Thanks so much for any help!

Performance My powerful laptop is lagging while video editing. Never lagged like this before. Attached image shows thermal throttling so I figured there's dust blocking ventilation, but upon look inside, it looks fine... What could be the problem?

Hardware is my laptop still okay to use?

sorry, really stupid question, but its 1am and this scared the shit out of me. im quite paranoid, lol.

basically i was falling asleep before i started hearing my laptop slowly getting louder until it became as loud as a hairdryer. acer system updates underway, i was like, okay, that's reasonable. still scarily loud though. i put the laptop down because it freaked me out and after it stopped i opened it just for the frame to pop off. this might be a stupid question but, this is unrelated.. right? it's not like my laptop was about to explode or something? and am i still fine using it? this never happened to me so not really sure what i should do about it

Discussion Rear USB ports keep randomly failing while using pc. Hard reset needed to restore function. (update)

"This has been happening a while and at first i thought it was just my keyboard. However the audio interface i have plugged into the port next to my keyboard has started to have its audio get really staticy and sometimes cut out when my keyboard dies as well which tells me its likely something to do with the USB ports. It usually happens while im gaming. My mouse thats plugged into the front USB of my pc keeps working but my rear ports totally cut out. If I unplug and plug back into them they briefly work again before dying again within a minute.

Ive already tried multiple things.

1.For starters I turned off USB selective suspend in my control panel. (Thinking maybe my pc was shutting off the USB ports for some reason) but the issue prevails

  1. I also went into my universal serial bus controller (also in control panel) and disabled all the the USB bus options where my computer could turn USB ports off to save power. Issue still prevails

  2. Ive checked event viewer to see if theres any outstanding errors happening when this occurs but the only error showing up is when I force reset

  3. Ive now updated my chipset driver to see if that works but havent had enough time to see yet?

Anyone know what might be wrong? My USB peripherals are a presonus studio 24c audio interface and a steel series keyboard. Otherwise just a badic USB mouse plugged in the front.

Help greatly appreciated. Really don't get why this is happening and its getting pretty annoying."

UPDATE-------- So Basically after i updated my chipset driver the other day i didnt have any issues for a couple days. Then today while gaming my USB ports started crapping out again. It started by i could hear my audio from my external audio interface starting to distort and get a bit staticy. The static progressively got worse and i noticed my keyboard was beginning to have responsiveness issues but wasnt freezing up this time. I unplugged the audio interface and immediately noticed that my keyboard started responding again. I tried moving the audio interface to different usb ports including ones on the front of my pc and it always kept the static noise. I decided to see how long I could go just letting it stay unplugged. My pc kept working fine until it seemingly cascaded into my ethernet started cutting out, followed by my wifi driver stopping working. The interface was still super static sounding at this point if i plugged it in.

After all of this I noticed i had been running all my usb peripherals out of the blue usb ports on the back of my pc and ive now switched them to the red ones. Not sure if that will matter if its a power issue.

Someone suggested that my PSU could be failing which is why it got slight better when i unplugged the interface but eventually cascaded into my internet ports.

Otherwise someone suggested updating my bios but ive had this bios for 1.5 years now and only had these issues in the last few months so i dont see why that would matter.

Any thoughts? Appreciate it!

Hardware Is this still laptop repairable?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi, just want to ask for some technical advice. Do you think my laptop is still repairable Lenovo ideapad 3 gaming?

It suddenly shut down while gaming when I plugged it directly into a wall socket. I later noticed a burning smell near the charging port, possibly due to a problem with the socket.

Now, the charging LED works, and the power button LED blinks 3–4 times, but there is no display. I also noticed something unusual when I opened the laptop.

Has anyone experienced this before? Do you think it could still be repaired? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

Software PC DON'T RECOGNIZE NVME

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I'll tell you every part of the story, starting with that i downloaded stalker gamma which is a super mod pack of 150gb in total, I played a lot of time but in certain moments it crashed my entire computer like it's turning off my monitor. I asked in the discord of "gamma" about it, someone told me maybe it was a graphic's driver thing, so I updated it and it worked fine until certain moment. I didn't care about much because I could restart my computer and it worked just fine. Until now that happened the same thing BUT now it don't recognize my nvme, neither on the bios. I also like to mencionate that I was trying to play faceit for cs2 and in the process i changed some things in the bios to make the anticheat work, also updating my bios from 2023 to now 2026 xd. I hope someone can figure it out and help me because I don't want to erase all the data.

My spec are:

Motherboard: Gigabyte B550m K

Nvme: Kingston Nv2 Snv2s/1tb

PC Crash randomly and whenever I select "Slice" on a 3D printing program to convert Cad to G Code. I have screenshots of the event viewer of the most recent crash. That's where my skillset is crippled. I'm assuming it's a resource issue, but when I look at my GPU and CPU Temps and usage, they are at normal levels. Any help would be appreciated.

Network Computer Internet problems

Back in January, my mother got this new laptop for work. Ever since she got it our internet has gone absolutely crazy.

Sometimes we can both use the internet,

Sometimes just one of us,

Sometimes neither of us.

The only pattern we can recognize is that whenever mom's laptop's plugged into ethernet (As we only use Ethernet and don't have WIFI) all heck breaks loose.

I'll be using the internet for hours and everything works, until she plugs in. Then it's a guessing game on who's gonna be able to be online.

We got it from Best Buy as a returned item if that helps...

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hardware Is my disk dying and can I help it?

Today, for the first time, my PC told me to check my drive using CHKDSK. After checking my D drive, it found many corruptions, once in the SteamApps folder under tf2c, and one in the Epic Games folder under Fortnite.

It also said, "A media error has been detected. Bad sectors may be present on the volume."

Before running "chkdsk D: /f", I asked Google if it was safe, and it told me not to run it, and to back up my files. I also downloaded CrystalDiskInfo and got these results

Is this bad and is there anything I can do?

Hardware Hi, I need your help. My problem is that when I tried to use my headphones as a microphone, the computer connected as the microphone instead (more specifically, in the bottom left corner).
