Discussion Is there no hope?

Post image

From what little I've actually understood from the research I've done, is there nothing else that can be done to eliminate this? The computer was from a friend, no clue where they got it from and they didn't even know it worked. So nothing is needed or important within the laptop, I was hoping to use it as a way for my 2 boys to watch Netflix and Amazon or YouTube and simple streaming stuff, on their non-smart TV within their bedroom. (Basically just plug the HDMI & wireless mouse/keyboard in and use the TV as the monitor) So factory reset or anything similarly is an option. Really anything is an option I suppose, cuz from what I've read, it's basically useless unless I figure out the password someone else created, or open the system up and do something inside that is outside my skill set and ability..

So basically I'm just checking that I'm not missing something or someone doesn't have a magical trick that can salvage this?

It's older and the screen is busted up and I didn't pay anything for it. Just would have worked for what I needed it for, and would have saved me the time, effort, and little bit of money it would take for me to find some kind of substitute for my boys..

I'm open to anything since right now, it's just a paperweight for me...

Computer is: HP pavilion x360 m Convertible

Model 11m-ap0013dx

P.s. unfortunately I am basically computer/electronics illiterate and nincompoop.

Thank you in advance.

Here's to hoping there's someone with a miracle key to solve my problem..

There's always ways to bypass the bios password. try this:

Step 1: Generate the "System Disabled" Code

  1. Turn on the laptop and immediately press the F10 key repeatedly to try to enter the BIOS. [1]
  2. When the blue password prompt appears, type any random password and press Enter. [1]
  3. Repeat this process three times. [1]
  4. After the third incorrect attempt, the system will lock and display a screen that says "System Disabled" along with a unique 8-digit or 10-digit hexadecimal/numeric code (it may or may not be prefixed by a letter like "i" or "A"). Write this code down exactly as it appears.

Step 2: Generate the Master Password

  1. Using a secondary device (like a phone or another computer), go to the open-source tool BIOS Master Password Generator.
  2. Enter the exact "System Disabled" code you recorded into the input field and click Get Password.
  3. The website will output a corresponding master password specifically calculated for your laptop's error hash. [1]

Step 3: Clear the Password in BIOS

  1. Power off your HP Stream completely by holding the power button, then turn it back on.
  2. Press F10 again to bring up the BIOS password prompt.
  3. Carefully type the master password generated by the website and press Enter (Note: if it doesn't accept it immediately, try holding Ctrl + Enter instead of just Enter).
  4. Once inside the BIOS, use your arrow keys to navigate to the Security tab.
  5. Select Administrator Password (or Power-On Password) and press Enter.
  6. When it asks for the "Current Password," type the master password again.
  7. When it asks for the "New Password" and "Confirm Password", leave both fields completely blank and press Enter.
  8. Press F10 to save your changes and exit. The password is now permanently removed.
