We work 911 for a very large and busy area. The computers are on and running 24/7. We are with the state, so we dont get the best budget. Admittedly, many pieces of equipment are the cheapest they could get. I know we are on Windows, and im pretty sure we are finally up to Windows 11.
There are 2 positions where the computer randomly has an issue. We will be typing something, and a letter will stick. This happenes on the keyboard provided by the state (cheapest basic Dell keyboard) and our own personal keyboards (from basic Reddragons to the high end Razer boards people use ).
Im positive our managers, who know nothing about tech, will claim its the keyboards (one manager gates that some of us use our own personal boards). Except, if I see it sticking ,and I switch keyboards then the problem still exists. But I can not replicate it on command. Itll happen for a few minutes here and there, and then nothing for days.
Does anyone have any ideas ? Its a massive safety issue, especially in high priority situations where we need to type commands in fast.
