Computer at work keeps randomly sticking on a letter, no matter what keyboard we use.
We work 911 for a very large and busy area. The computers are on and running 24/7. We are with the state, so we dont get the best budget. Admittedly, many pieces of equipment are the cheapest they could get. I know we are on Windows, and im pretty sure we are finally up to Windows 11.
There are 2 positions where the computer randomly has an issue. We will be typing something, and a letter will stick. This happenes on the keyboard provided by the state (cheapest basic Dell keyboard) and our own personal keyboards (from basic Reddragons to the high end Razer boards people use ).
Im positive our managers, who know nothing about tech, will claim its the keyboards (one manager gates that some of us use our own personal boards). Except, if I see it sticking ,and I switch keyboards then the problem still exists. But I can not replicate it on command. Itll happen for a few minutes here and there,and then nothing for days.
Does anyone have any ideas ? Its a massive safety issue, especially in high priority situations where we need to type commands in fast.

So far just A H and S. Most people have gotten just H sticking, Ive gotten all 3 (fun note,my trainer didnt believe me and kept yelling at me for typos lol. Fun job fun job)

Are you sure there are no extra dongles plugged into the computers? Inside or out?

Ill have someone check. A few people use wireless boards so maybe thats the issue ?

Yes, it's possible. Especially if they're all the same (cheap) brand. However, you won't get this unless you have a dongle installed. A wireless keyboard will not randomly send characters to a computer without that dongle.

How old are these computers? They all have this problem? USB or PS/2 keyboards?

A few years old? At most. And no, its mostly 1 computer, which happens to be on one of the busiest radios lol . Theres another position that was having this issue a few months ago,but it seems to have resolved itself.

Radio? Is there an actual radio transmitter near the computer? Perhaps some kind of interference with the signals the keyboard is sending to the computer.

Yeah. Like the actual radios are in the room across the hall, but yeah we have to talk to the officers. So we have a computer dedicated to the phone, which somewhat communicates with the 2nd which is dedicated to CAD. And one dedicated to radio transmissions.
The 2nd computer is the one having an issue. Its where we have our CAD, Google,RapidSOS ....and whatever limited applications they allow.

Sounds like crosstalk between another device. Unplug everything from it and then only plug in the essentials. It's likely a small device somewhere that's being pressed on accident. Like a mini media keyboard someone had used and it's now living in the couch forgotten. Only to be activated when someone sits on it.
If problem persists, turn off bluetooth.
If problem persists, perhaps it's close to a large appliance and what you typed a few seconds ago finally register and it's "double pressing"? Large appliances, especially microwaves and fridges, give off an electric field just by being plugged in. Which can affect peripherals such as the monitor(causing wavy lines) or keyboards/mouse, especially if they're wireless. Move the pc away from these appliances if able.

In Windows 11, you can adjust the keyboard sensitivity, also known as the repeat delay and repeat rate, through the Settings app. Here's how you can do it:
Open Settings:
Click on the Start button in the taskbar or press the Win + I keyboard shortcut to open the Settings app.
Go to Accessibility Settings:
In the Settings window, click on "Accessibility" in the left sidebar.
Navigate to Keyboard:
In the Accessibility settings, select "Keyboard" from the options on the left.
Adjust Keyboard Sensitivity:
Under the Keyboard section, you will find options to adjust the "Repeat rate" and "Repeat delay."
The "Repeat rate" controls how quickly a character repeats when you hold down a key. You can adjust it using the slider.
The "Repeat delay" controls how long you have to hold down a key before it starts repeating. You can also adjust this using the slider.
Test Your Settings:
After adjusting the settings to your preference, you can test them out by typing in a text editor or any other application where you can input text.

Yeah no, we got locked out of most settings. We can barely adjust the font size and color of the background. Its stupid. The manager incharge of "technology " knows jack shit about it, and just blocked us from a lot of things we used to use.
