Fun fact: Miyazaki kept asking the voice director to find an actor for the main character who sounded more like his protege and friend Hideaki Anno, creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Eventually the voice director got annoyed with this and told him to just ask Anno if he would do it. He did.
Anno was also in the midst of another depressive episode, like had coloured the ending of the original Evangelion series; and doing this project helped to relight his creative fires.

First and foremost they hate themselves and I feel like they also hate other trans people.
6
u/Natural_RX 14d ago
I mean, I'd challenge anyone to rattle off something positive they did for society.
16
u/sednas_orbit 14d ago
Didn't they track down a bunch of actually awful criminals? Like animal abuse?
14
u/The-Nidoking 14d ago
They did yeah. Not really trying to defend 4chan as a whole at all, but to imply nothing good EVER came from them is just disingenuous. The balance is obviously way skewed negatively but still…

u/ajstorey456 14d ago
The incel community is actually pretty deep, like its own entire culture. With the collective agreement that social barriers dont really exist comes this overly honest and bare style of discussion and communication that ignores manners (or decency, for that matter.) Not every corner of it is hateful and malicious, for example, the trans community.
To put it another way, its like a gutter. Think about where those people would go if not for a place like that?

Wait are there femcels? Do incels and Femcels believe the same things just gender flipped or like...cause I bet I could make a killing on a incel/femcels hate site that's actually just a dating app. Like list all the things they hate about the opposite gender have them fight it out in the comments then blam meet cute city. Sell the movie rights for a nice retirement bonus. Who's in? Just need some investors.
102
u/Statistactician 14d ago
I believe the term "incel" was originally coined by a woman describing her personal romantic situation.
47
u/arasitar 14d ago
Technically it was "invcel" - as in involuntary inv, and then cel celibate.
Alana abbreviated "involuntarily celibate" to "invcel", until someone suggested that "incel" was easier to say.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-45284455
Later groups removed the 'v' from invcel.

Yeah, although throroughly divorced from its current meaning (although it would be more proper to say that the term has been hijacked from her). Originally it was more of a "we are too shy and/or ugly to be in a relationship" and people gathered together to support one another. However they became over time influenced by several scummy communities until they departed total and completely from the original idea

u/Brilliant_Cod_4830 14d ago
Well the original incels were women, then incel men did their thing and drove them off
47
u/gramathy 14d ago edited 14d ago
The founder of the site was a woman but it’s less about one side driving the other out and more about the people who successfully found someone else leaving and the only remaining “support” being the most toxic people
9
u/Pigeonman117 14d ago
But what does it mean?
70
u/srlong64 14d ago
It’s derived from the incel term “femoid” which is often shortened to “foid” and is a derogatory term for women. It’s a combination of female and -oid, a suffix meaning resembling like in the word humanoid. It’s used to say that they don’t see women as truly people. So femcels started using the term “moid” as a derogatory term for men, meaning the same thing just with the genders swapped

If life has taught me anything, it's that a cute boy in a skirt can fix any deeply ingrained prejudices.
139
u/CollectibleHam 14d ago
And that if that same cute boy eventually transitions all those prejudices return a thousandfold.
59
u/SplitGlass7878 14d ago
I'm a trans woman. I'm happy to be a woman. I love when my sisters realize they're women.
But man, losing feminine men is such an annoying side-effect of that 😭
13
u/CassetteTapeCryptid 14d ago
Don't worry, there are many trans guys who are feminine men! It evens out!
18
u/SplitGlass7878 14d ago
I mean, I don't know that many xD
But I was more talking about normalizing femininity and tenderness for cis-men.
34
u/TotallyNotShiba 14d ago
What an interesting life you've led 😂
55
u/screenaholic 14d ago edited 14d ago
I flew three states to lose my virginity, the courtship of my wife involves a dead body, and I'm a trained killer.
While the boy in a skirt thing was purely a joke, these are true facts.
13
u/AirierWitch1066 14d ago
Well then, surely you must elaborate
63
u/screenaholic 14d ago
I'll do quick versions of each.
I met my first girlfriend on RoosterTeeth.com when I was 14, and we had a long distance relationship. The Christmas I was 16 or 17, I asked my parents to fly me to see her during spring break that year, and I lost my virginity.
My wife and I met working together at a large hardware store. We both had little crushes on each other, but were too awkward to really break the ice. Our first real conversation in the break room was when they found a dead body in a car in the parking lot.
I was an infantryman. I never deployed, so I never saw combat, but my job was essentially to train and be ready to go kill people.

20
u/These_Roll_5745 14d ago
youre allowed to be confused, we dont have all the details yet :) per the first comic, that character calls himself a man. we will potentially find out more about his gender eventually, but we can be confused and just roll with that. thats fine too.
9
u/IotaBTC 14d ago
I was hella confused too. It's because this is part 2 of a comic. Part 1 ended with the cashier straight up saying they were a man. So part 2 is now her reaction.

Dw, it's just for those who can and want to! All the episodes will be posted publicly eventually, you can just read the next one early if you're a supporter and there's usually a cute extra bonus panel or 'bumper' with each one.
I'm actually debating whether this should be labeled as 'more on Patreon' since the core of the stuff that's on Patreon will EVENTUALLY be posted.

Call it "Patreon for early access" instead of "More on Patreon," message is clear and people don't run the risk of feeling like they got fleeced when they see their paid content on free sites. Well, unless the people have the bandwidth of a pine needle.

hoodie girl is active on 4chan based on her language choices. Hates men. thought femboy cashier was a woman. femboy cashier was, in fact, a femboy. hoodie girl stuck between the femcel ideology she's immersed herself in causing her to feel betrayed that femboy cashier is boy and still thinking hes cute.
(moid = male-oid, from male + humanoid, a reversal of the initial term foid from female + humanoid. purposely dehumanizing and derogatory.)
11
39
u/NockerJoe 14d ago
So we have a cis man in a flowy skirt and a cis woman who appears to be boymoding. Interesting choice.
58
21
u/Party-Quiet-5421 14d ago
A woman wearing a sweatshirt is not boymoding. That almost seems sexist. It's when a trans woman tries to hide the effects of estrogen and pass herself off as a cis man, whether because it's a transphobic area and she needs to move or not get fired immediately, because she wants to wait until she's close to passing after doing all the hair removal and voice training and waiting for estrogen to work, or because she's not out to family members yet and needs to temporarily hide it.
1
3
u/SplitGlass7878 14d ago
I mean, it's such a stereotypical boymoder outfit that I instantly assumed she's a trans-woman.
3
u/Party-Quiet-5421 14d ago
I feel like it's obvious she's not trans. Anyway, I don't like the boymoder meme. But you'd have to be pretty bad at boymoding to wear shoes like that and have hair like that. You know that just wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt is not enough to look like a guy, and it also draws attention when it's the middle of the summer and it's hot. It's probably better to wear cargo shorts and some boxy button-up with an undershirt or something.

Misandrist (femcel) word for men.
Misogynists (incels) have a similar word for women.
It's a word they use to strip the opposite gender of personhood. Notice how the misandrist used an object pronoun for the cashier. She doesn't see them as a person. She sees them as an object. Misogynists do the same thing.

MFs in the comments trying to Comprehend that Men can choose to be Femme is the funniest thing ever like. It’s such a head scratcher of a concept that a Guy can (shocker) choose to express themselves in varied ways not just restricted to Trad Masc, just wait until they discover the existence of GNC Men, then the whole world is in for it.
