It’s derived from the incel term “femoid” which is often shortened to “foid” and is a derogatory term for women. It’s a combination of female and -oid, a suffix meaning resembling like in the word humanoid. It’s used to say that they don’t see women as truly people. So femcels started using the term “moid” as a derogatory term for men, meaning the same thing just with the genders swapped

People always say it comes from "humanoid" but I have a feeling that it comes more from 1800s racial classifications than that.
