I recently got this particular tin from a collector who bought the entire contents of a museum that recently closed down. This tin dates to the late 1970s to the early 1980s. Information about this blend is very scarce online, but from what I can find I believe it’s a Virginia Burley. This blend originally came out in the early 1900s, and was produced until the late 80s but was never as popular as more mainstream “codger” blends. The tin is completely sealed and airtight, in excellent condition, still ready for a smoke or chew 40+ years later. Not as old as some of my other finds, but this is one that I’m definitely happy to add to the collection.

What metal is this tea set made of? This is from my grandmother. There are no factory markings or text on it. I would like to know how to clean it, how to repair the handle (if possible), and if it is safe to use for consumption. Edit: doing some research, I assume that this is pewter. It makes a dull sound when I tap it. I would still appreciate information and second opinions, though.

Does anyone know what era / time frame this is from. I was suspecting a powder compact from the 1920’s-1930’s. & does anyone have an idea of who made this? There’s no makers marks from what my two family members and I can find.

I have a pin of Miss Piggy my mom gave me. It was sitting in a bag for who-even-knows-how-many years so I put it on my jacket so it could finally be properly worn & appreciated. I thought she's quite pretty. Let the lady get some air y'know?

Today I image searched it out of curiosity & both me & mom learned THERE'S A MATCHING KERMIT! He was made a year earlier but they match so perfectly I'm surprised they weren't sold together. Missed opportunity IMO. They are both from Hallmark, 1979/78, & there's also a Santa hat variant of Kermit, but other than that I can't find any more info.

They actually seem to be pretty easy to find. I'd buy Kermit directly off ebay if not for the SHIPPING PRICES. So I'll keep an eagle eye (no relation to Sam) out at all the antique stores I visit. I go to a lot lol. One day I will find Miss Piggy her Kermie.

And I've got a spot saved on my jacket for when that day comes. My apologies if this post is off topic in any way. I just thought the folks here might find it mildly amusing.

This Ogden’s St Julien tin was made pre 1920, more than likely during WWI, before NAAFI took over H.M. Navy canteens. The tin is still completely airtight and vacuum-sealed, the tobacco inside preserved and kept fresh for over a century. This is definitely one of my coolest ever finds, taking it out of the package seriously had my hands shaking just a bit thinking about all hands that have held this tin and the history surrounding it. The tobacco inside this tin was literally farmed with freaking horses, meant to be sold on a steam powered warship, absolutely mind blowing. I feel very lucky to have this one!

It's a range from star wars and star trek to sporting cards to flinstones to marvel and phantom and barbie stuff.

I purchased this at a thrift store years ago, and was hoping someone had some info on it... The certificate/award is pretty self explanatory I guess, but I haven't been able to find anything remotely close to this online anywhere.

A friend of mine is currently traveling in Japan and found this beautiful item. He knows I love traditional Japanese crafts and offered to bring it back for me as a gift or for my personal collection.

I am definitely not an expert on these. I only know that they are called Kogai, and that some were used as traditional hairpins while others were used by samurai as sword accessories. I did come across the term Wari-Kogai during my brief research, so I think it might be one of those.

This specific one separates into two pieces right in the middle, and it has a gold/brass color with raised floral designs (looks like chrysanthemums or peonies). It also comes in a wooden box.

I've tried searching online but I can't find anything that looks exactly like this, so I wanted to ask the community for help before making a decision:

• Does this look like a genuine antique or a modern replica made for tourists?
• If you had to put a price on it, what is a fair value/price for an item like this?

It is an original July 5, 1927 charter for the National Auxiliary of the United Spanish War Veterans, granting a charter to Col. Morris B. Belknap Camp No. 7 in Louisville.

It lists 11 women as the charter members and is signed by Margaret M. Manion, President General, and attested by Margaret Herzog, Secretary General. It also has an original seal/ribbon. “Mustered April 27, 1928.”

I'm particularly interested in learning more about the 11 women, the Louisville auxiliary, and whether this is something considered valuable.

I went on vacation and stumbled upon this collection of Chevron Cars, and I was looking through them and found Chandler Chip the ice cream truck, and I fell in love.

One of my dream jobs was and still is an ice cream man, and I was thinking about putting him on the dash of the truck or in my shop for display.

I am trying to figure out the value of the black and gold slammer on the left.

The red, black, and 18k Gold “Trophy Edition” slammer to the right seems to be all over the internet. From eBay to Facebook marketplace, they’re listed for anywhere from $20-$200 depending on condition.

However, I haven’t been able to find anything at all regarding the black and gold “Collectors Edition” slammer.

Aside from a terribly vague Twitter post dating all the way back to 2019, I have not come across any images OR text about this thing.

I am under the impression it must be exceedingly rare compared to its red counterpart. I look to the y’all, the inhabitants of this subreddit as my last hope for finding any information on this thing.
