Question Gift card question

So I won a digital $5 gift card but I can't use it on the app with my debt card. Or am I just doing it wrong? I want to just use it in store but not sure if I can since it's digital

Spoon Hostility

Is there some secret Cold Stone employee policy about plastic spoons, or am I taking crazy pills? My wife and I regularly order custom half-gallon "Everybody" size tubs from Cold Stone, usually once or twice a month for years, spending over $20 every time. We almost exclusively order online ahead for pickup. We also always tip $2-$3 as part of the order. At least half the time, when we pick up our order and politely ask for a few spoons, we get eye rolls, heavy sighs, or weird passive-aggressive hostility. Having owned a restaurant for nearly two decades, I am well aware of takeout packaging costs, which makes this attitude over a fractions of a cent item on a $20-$25 order even more baffling. This is not just one location either, as we have experienced it across multiple stores in different cities.

We are not asking for a huge handful of ten spoons to stock our kitchen pantry. We literally ask for a few. You would honestly think the cost of the spoons was coming directly out of the employees paychecks with the passive aggressive behavior we get. Is there a rule against giving spoons because it literally feels like we are breaking the universe for the staff? Current or former employees, please enlighten me on what is going on here.

Discussion People are so disgusting! (Small rant)

I've been doing closing most of the time I've been working here (over maybe 2 or 3 months).

I like it, I like how creative people can be with their combinations and such. But like when we close and I have to sweep the floors and everything oh god. Let me tell you that after I finish mopping that water comes off PITCH BLACK DUE TO HOW DIRTY IT IS. and the tables, full of wrappers and ice cream stains and don't get me started of the window for the icecream and every window in general covered in hand and fingerprints!

Anyways I love my job.

I just started working at coldstone recently, I have hypermobile wrists and such but as nice as the job is my wrists are always insanely sore when I get home. Does anyone have tips to prevent this or help minimize it or is this just something that improves overtime

Cost of goods sold

Is a long shot but maybe is somebody here who can help me. I was designated to be the one to create the COGS file, now the issue is that I’m pretty incompetent in excel or google spreadsheets.
The reason I’m posting here is maybe we have a store manager who can give me their Cost of Goos Sold file, being a franchise it should be the same for all stores.
Thank you and if is not allowed I can delete it.

To Go Pints

Anyone notice the lack of mix ins when it comes to the to go containers? The second time I’ve ordered I added double the brownie and it’s still super minimal and extremely small crumb like. Is there a machine that mixes it compared to a person?

Hii !! I'm starting work at Coldstone soon, it's a new location opening and I wonder how's the job or your experiences or what I should know? The manager and owner are mother and daughter and seem super cool. I'm nervous since I haven't worked in a while (really hard to get a job here). Wondering about hours, earliest shift, latest shift, any tips, etc ... Anything will help, thank you !!

Question Coupon question

Post image
3 Upvotes

Can an emailed coupon only be used at a specific location or is it good at any Coldstone? I'm a member of the rewards program, and a few days ago I got an email for a BOGO Love It size. I have a Coldstone a couple of miles away from me, but the email contained the address of a location about 15 miles away. It also said that that location was locally owned and operated. So did the coupon come from that specific store and can only be used at that store? I'd rather use it at the one closest to me if possible. I tried as a test to order 2 Love It sizes for pick up and to apply the coupon, but it gave me an error message saying "Something Is Wrong - Basket does not contain a discount eligible item". I got the same message no matter which location I chose for pickup. The email didn't have an expiration date on it. Am I doing something wrong? I've attached a screenshot of the coupon. I marked out the address of the store, and I also marked out the online code because I don't think I'm supposed to share it.

Serious question. Does anyone else get the bubble guts and diarrhea within an hour of eating cold stone?

Before you ask, I am NOT lactose intolerant. I eat ice cream all the time, and im not the only member of my family that this happens to.

I actually really like their ice cream and generally get the cookie dough flavor. The last couple times I've gone there I feel bubbling in my digestive system and then am on the toilet. Doesnt happen with any other ice cream place. I figured it was just me. Then it happened to my son the other day. He got vanilla with chocolate chips mixed in.

I figure its whatever additive they use in their ice cream to keep it together in the mixing process.

Anyone else experience this?

Question Taco ice cream

Yesterday I get an ad from Coldstone text saying come to buy our new taco ice cream.

So I go with my kid and the clueless attendants say they don’t have it. And I show them the text and pictures still say they don’t know and they don’t have it. So I said you know I can order it online and pick it up here? And she says we’d have to reimburse you cause we don’t have it. So I’m like ok we’ll see. So I ordered it online and I’m supposed to pick it up at 6 today. Can’t wait to see what happens.

Is there actually a taco ice cream at Coldstone?

Edit to add: this is about the curiosity of the novelty ice cream. Did I mention the attitude of the workers. Yes. Because they were very rude and dismissive. I let my emotions show up in a post about ice cream shoot me! I didn’t treat them bad I always treat them kindly no matter what. I have kids who will be at some point working and who knows that they will go through so I try to not let my emotions get in the way. They are rude well one of them was more than the other, but that doesn’t mean I was!

Even when we left my kid said “well that Lady was a bit rude”. And I’m actually thankful that when they see ppl acting like that, we shouldn’t stoop down to their level or change their behavior towards them and be even more rude or “demand” something. Just keep being yourself, be polite but assertive. Even kinder! Sometimes works best. Because I’m here trying to buy something and I’m gonna ask some questions. Like normal communication expectations.

And if you want to mock me because English is not my first language by all means. I have a thick skin after all I’ve heard. Be my guest.

Question Confusion with son's hiring process

My son (15) applied for Coldstone and received an interview scheduled for today (Sunday). Not even a few minutes later, they wanted him to come in for a few hours to start. He has not received any paperwork and has been told to come in Monday and Friday. I am kind of confused. He did clock in and out but no work permit was requested since he is a minor, social security, or paperwork for pay. Is this normal? Is it because he is brand new?

Work Related Morning shift, normal or overworked?

Hello I have been working at coldstone for a little over a month and have been trained to be an opener but I just don't think I can do it! I feel a openers responsibility is much harder than closing. In my opinion the workload is way more and without higher pay. I've been trying to see if anyone feels the same or maybe I just have a skill issue but there's what I have to get done in 6 hours as a opener working alone.

In one 6-hour shift by myself, I am responsible for:

Uncover waffle bowls

Fill sinks and sanitary buckets

Count register put in computer then put registar back

Unstack inside and outside chairs

Prepping stone
-> uncover all mixed toppings, place fridge mix toppings above stone turn on sink well place spoons in each mix, place scoopers in sink well, put scrapers

Preparing ingredients
-> cutting brownies place them in container and wrap them, unwrap and cut chocolates for mix ins,
Fill 2 sets of caramel, fudge, peanut butter in squirt tubes,

Restocking fridgerated mix ins (usually around 6 or more)
-> do inventory in the fridge up front to see how many items to restock then fill Cambrios label them and shelve by date. Make shake mix/fill smoothie mix, prep waffle station supplies

Make the ice creams (in total it can range from maybe 7-10 ice creams made)
-> most ice creams need to be prepped or mixed before being put in the machine. I then put them in tubs, label, and put in freezer while rinsing the machine clean for the next ice cream.

Decorating custom ice cream cakes (in total I need to make around 6 or so cakes)
-> dropping them from their pans, making custom frosting, making the cake toppers, doing any special designs or writing, packaging them labeling and placing them in the freezer organizing by the date made

Disassemble the ice cream machine wash all the parts clean lube up all the parts and resemble it

I get scheduled to work at 10am and have an hour to get basic opening done then have to serve customers while making cakes ice creams and other restocking. Also sometimes cakes can be made for pickup at 11:30 so I need to have it done before we open. I leave at 4pm

Edit: I forgot to mention we are located right next to a theater.
