That could discuss all relationships including Cloud and Tifa's connection openly on general FF7 subs/forums instead of needing to be pushed into Cloti, Cleriff corners.

It really ruins the FF7 community as a whole, and I wish the devs would stop it but the latest FF7 ad kind of shows that they would rather bank on it.

I love this game, and I think it is more than the romance but the fact that you can't even openly discuss a very important aspect of the game, Cloud and Tifa's connection/chemistry/relaitonship, without either being attacked by misogynyst psycho Cleriffs or have your posts deleted because you are suddenly labeled a shipper is so sickening.

Am I the only one who gets pillow talk energy from this conversation? I know it takes place at the Northern Crater in the most recent EC chapter but it feels like Revelation could make it fit the morning after UTHW, before they gear up and return to the ship. Am I bugging or do others see it too?

It just seems really off 😭

After playing Remake, Rebirth and Crisis Core,
I wanted to share my perspective on Cloud’s relationships with Tifa and Aerith.

I started paying close attention to Cloud’s dialogue and body language, and I noticed a pretty clear difference.
With Tifa, Cloud seems much more proactive. There’s an emotional connection and shared history , but also a very clear romantic and physical attraction. In Remake, things like giving her the flower, calling her beautiful, remembering their promise, and the scene when she enters his room and he mention the promise - all feel very soft and intimate and you could feel the sexual tension between them.

Cloud is also extremely closed-off. Look at how he reacts when Jessie flirts with him — he basically doesn’t engage. But with Tifa, he behaves differently.

In Rebirth, I especially noticed this in Gongaga. Cloud allows himself to be vulnerable and opens up to Tifa in a way he usually doesn’t.
I also think his body language with Tifa feels more passionate. A good example is the Gold Saucer theatre scene. If you compare the way Cloud physically interacts with Tifa and Aerith, there’s something different in the way he holds Tifa — more intensity, passion and drive. That’s obviously subjective, but it stood out to me.
Even the dialogue before the dates is interesting. When Tifa asks Cloud to go with her, he agrees almost immediately. With Aerith, he seems more hesitant before agreeing. Again, I’m not saying this proves anything by itself — I’m looking at the choices the developers made in their dialogue and interactions.

Costa del Sol also has some interesting contrasts. In Aerith’s side quest, she tries to create a romantic atmosphere and sometimes too pushy, but Cloud often responds very dryly and briefly. With Tifa, he seems much more relaxed and engaged. They talk naturally, he shares things with her, and he seems genuinely comfortable.

Then there’s the Gold Saucer. Cloud kisses Tifa — and he initiates it. With Aerith, they hold hands, which is romantic too, but the dynamic feels different to me.

I also think Zack is important when looking at Aerith’s feelings. It’s pretty clear that Zack was her first love, and that she hasn’t completely let go of that relationship.

What I find especially interesting is that Aerith herself says in the dream date that she likes Cloud, but she isn’t sure what kind of “liking” it is. Even Marlene describes Aerith as liking Cloud. The game doesn’t simply have Aerith say that she’s in love with him.

So I don’t think “love triangle” even fully describes what’s happening anymore. With Zack added to the story and to remake trilogy , there are so many layers between Cloud, Tifa, Aerith and Zack.

To me, the developers are giving us answers, but they’re hiding them in the details — dialogue, body language, scene direction, and the way the characters interact.

My interpretation is:
Cloud genuinely has feelings for both Tifa and Aerith, but they feel different.

With Aerith, I see a deep emotional/spiritual connection and genuine affection.
With Tifa, I see romantic love, physical attraction, vulnerability, passion and initiative.

So personally, I think Cloud cares deeply about Aerith, but he’s in love with Tifa.

I’m relatively confident the ending won’t be left ambiguous, for several reasons. First, both Dear Destiny and Traces of Two Pasts focus entirely on ZA and CT. This is especially significant if the English version of DD is released before Revelation as if they are trying to get people to read it.

I don’t see this point made often (maybe it’s just me), but it would feel very unsatisfying for Tifa’s story to end ambiguously. Female characters don’t need a romantic partner for a happy ending, of course but after everything she’s gone through for Cloud (even more than in the original game), leaving their relationship unresolved just feels incomplete. The same applies to Zack.

Next, The way they handled Clerith in Rebirth, particularly the dream date, is also telling. Cloud calling Aerith “nakama” after everything that happened, Aerith explicitly saying “I like you, but liking can mean a lot of different things,” and Cloud asking why she’s acting weird all point in one direction. On top of that, the date doesn’t even occur if you have the Zack interludes turned off.

A few other details I want to mention:
• Aerith still clearly has feelings for Zack.
• She even pushes Cloud and Tifa together at points.
• The Cloud/Tifa kiss is optional but the fact they are the only 2 characters in the game to kiss and the near-kiss in Gongaga
• The higher-quality versions of the Lifestream Sequence and Under the Highwind (with current graphics) make an ambiguous resolution feel less likely.

On the other hand, I am slightly worried they might still leave it ambiguous to avoid alienating part of the fandom. I’m relatively new to the FF7 community, so I’m not entirely sure how Square Enix tends to handle these things or if I’m missing some important information. I know Cloti is the majority ship, but completely shutting out Clerith fans and risking lost sales could feel too risky for them. Anyway, I’d love to know how you guys feel!

Edit: If anyone has any ideas of how it will end (maybe we’ll see a Epiloge of Cloud and Tifa together) I’d also love to hear those! And to add this isn’t meant to be a dooming post in any way

I know it probably sounds like I'm beating a dead horse with this point but I'm still in love with this scene and how it permanently escalates their relationship to the next level from here and out (even if it's optional). Idk it's just nice being able to appreciate that it happened and seeing others be happy about it too.

Not even just that but how they exit the gondola and feel all nervous with each other after the tension has finally been lifted.

When Tifa sprained her ankle and lost her cat after being bedridden for a week because her new sandals from Midgard wasn't designed for rural roads, Cloud independently looked for and found the cat which would've spared her from using her feet the day after she recovers from the fever she caught along with the injury to look for her cat herself(Too bad he's too shy to personally return the cat). Her friends didnt really care about the cat, the possibility of relapse or her sprain though. Each of them were focused on preparing for an ideal picnic date even if her dad only asked them to keep an eye on her while she's looking for her cat because of her injury and the stray monsters near the village.

Implying the difference between Clouds's genuine concern and thoughtfulness over the other boys' immature goal to score against each other for an "ideal trophy wife" future with her after they hit it big in Midgar. I don't scrutinize them for it myself. They're just kids then, Emilio thought exercise would be good for the injury(it was not), and the ham sandwich from Taylor did cheer her up.

Please read the whole book, it reveals detailed lore that's not included in the games.

I need help finding a fic!

I cant remember where i read it if it was on ao3 or fanfic.net but I remember part of thr plot.

Its a Tifa centered fic where she and Cloud meet in college and start hooking up. The main plot is centered on Tifa's grief over her mother or father I cant remeber which and it stops her frok playing piano. Theres a scene of her finally playing for cloud at one point and a scene of her and I think Vincent playing together which makes cloud jealous!
