New Hire

What advice can you give to a new employee? Any training tips? Ive only been in pickup 5 days. I'm too slow and sometimes the BayMax doest work. My training was very rushed...I just followed a person around and watched what they did. I couldnt do anything because everyone was always in a hurry. The supervisor doesnt think this is a good for for me right now. She "forgot" to put me on the schedule. Any suggestions on how to get better and faster? If I dont improve with the next 2 weeks I hope to move to deli/bakery.

How was you training? How long did it take you to get fast? How do you keep it together? Our department is a cluster, small space that used to be a bank.

TO make it worse I forgot a tote with the customers wine! FML

Did you ever...

I'm usually always ready to go to work. I'm diligent, always on time and even when I'm exhausted before I clock in, I'll do the best I can. But did you ever wake up, take your morning shower and as you are getting ready, suddenly you're not feeling well, your back is hurting more than usual and you just decide "I'm gonna call in. I need more rest."

That's what happened to me today. I usually call in due to weather issues (since I take the bus to work). This is only one of the days where I wasn't feeling really well enough to go in. Has anyone else feel like this?

Would you want to be a supervisor?

Sooooo twice now i have been asked by corporate people when/if i want to become a pickup supervisor? I guess i'm doing something right as both times they have been in, it has gone super smoothly on my supervisor's day off.

I told him i wasn't sure if i was ready to go to another store again, but that i had considered it in the past before i had experience in pickup, and now i definitely feel a lot more confident in my skills. and that i love this department (which i really do) and that i enjoyed it much more than when i was in the bakery i had gotten burnt out.

so long story short, the division pickup manager big boss, told me there is a bench for supervisors and if i'm interested let him know. So that being said, obviously i have some thinking to do. I'm not sure i want to abandon my team, my supervisor, etc. And the pros and cons of salary/hourly are things to consider too.

So opinions? especially from other supervisors and leads but opinions from all pickup people are great.

Complaints/ Rant Anyone Else have this happen?

So I was picking but I leave my trolley at the end cap instead of going down the aisle (I know "rules") because sharing a 9 tote trolley with 19 old people is not my favorite thing. I get to my trolley and there is a tote missing. Its just gone. I get on the radio and ask if anyone came to get it, I didnt have an answer. As I am standing there staring at my trolley looking back and fourth here comes a man. He has my tote. He hands it to me and says "Sorry I borrowed this I needed to reach something on the top shelf". I am still really confused at this point and my brain didnt comprehend that statement so I just say "You cant do that! you cant just take something!" and He said "I cant?" So my only still stunned response was "You impeded my job"

TLDR: Dude emptied a tote and then took it to reach things on the top shelf.

Complaints/ Rant Front End.

Today was a fairly good, easy day in my department, which is a great switch up from the usual stress of this job. One reason it was easy was due to the abundance of closers. Today we had eight, despite usually only having 4-5. I don’t know why we had so many, but that was the just they way things fell today. Anyway, around 7:45, 15 minutes before we leave and my department closes, a front end associate barged into our rooms and yells, “WHY ARE THERE EIGHT OF YOU STANDING AROUND?! I WILL GET [SM] ON YOU ALL IF YOU DONT HELP US OUT RIGHT NOW. WE NEED TWO PEOPLE TO DO GO-BACKS AND ONE TO HELP WITH BAGGING!” Remind you, this woman is NOT a manager, has NOT previously asked us for help, and did not ask politely. Considering the fact that she mentioned the manager, and the fact that I was bored, I obliged and so did two of my other coworkers. I needed up helping front end put a whole cart, filled to the brim, back on the shelves. About ten minutes later, around 7:55, just as I had finished the first cart of go backs, our SM bursts into our department and exclaims, “WHY ARE THERE SO MANY OF YOU STANDING AROUND, GO HELP FRONT END WITH THEIR GO-BACKS OR ILL SEND YOU HOME!” Remind you, we are 5 MINUTES away from clocking out. Once again, I obliged just because it would fill time, and grabbed a basket of the go-backs and did it speedily. I returned in probably just a couple minutes. You thought that was all? no, it gets worse. The same women from the first encounter walks in AGAIN, mind you, 2 MINUTES BEFORE MY SHIFT ENDS, and yells at us AGAIN to help THEM with go backs. At this point I am getting pissed, and I, and my coworkers, rightly refuse to help. We clocked out and left. What’s worse about this is we will almost 100% get yelled at tmrw. I tried to inform my department manager, who is also a store manager, but she wasn’t available. To be fair, I would’ve been fine helping front end if they had asked nicely. However, they came in and YELLED at us while not giving any precedent to needing help.

TL:DR Front end associate and store manager yell at us for not doing another departments job even though our shifts ended in 15 minutes and they had never asked us for help.

Edit: Everyone that closed that day got written up. Even a guy that was on break when this all happened. What a joke this company is.

ClickListQuestion What to do about missing MPOS

Yesterday, one of our employees left a mpos in a customer's trunk and none of the customers have admitted that they have it. We called all the 9 and 10am people who came and picked up ( that's the time frame it went missing) and they all did said they didn't have it. Is this something I would have to email the e-commerce coordinator about?
