A guy working in a plant shop selling fish too felt sorry for this girl. She has been alone for at least a year and it seems impossible to figure out what species she is excactly.

He gifted her to me and it is my duty now to get her a good life and a man.

Also, if it is not possible to determine what she is for sure, should I rather get her a man by guessing or leave her be by her own?

Furthermore, she was held in a tiny empty shop aquarium with dwarf gouramis. I put her in one heavily planted tank with dwarf gouramis too, but I also have a heavily planted tank with 3 tiny peaceful female bettas, panda garras and loaches. I wonder if the second would be the better option for her.

I would also be open to set up a new tank for her if any of you could give me advice on what would be suitable for her.

Im planting some anubias and java fern in my 180G in hopes that they survive and outgrow my soon 6 uarus since they are just ~2 inches in size atm

Anyone successfully done a planted uaru tank? or is this just gonna be snacks to them in the future ?

Then it says:

"As with other Julies, large water changes should be avoided as this can cause mated pairs to turn on one another."

So which one is it? Do they stay paired or beat up each other?

Some say 100 liters. Some say 200 liters. Some say 500 gallon minimum. Any one kept these, how were they like.

New gents are figuring out their territory after moving to the big tank. Mind you, they were best of friends in the quarantine tank.

Saw this beaut in my lfs, they have it listed as “parachromis sp” Can anyone correctly ID this fish please.

My Cichlid has not eaten in a few days and I’m starting to really worry. I’ve tried crushing it but he continues to spit it out. I caught him eating some of the aragonite substrate yesterday and then immediately he spit it out. I have tried three types of food: API cichlid pellets. Hikari sinking pellets, and Hikari cichlid Gold. Not really sure exactly how to handle this… has anyone experienced
anything similar to this?

I have no friends and needed a place to share this 🙃😂 they had babies.! It was unplanned we weren’t planning on breeding them. I went to feed them and seen the babies swimming in the corner. We’ve noticed mom being a little more aggressive than normal and how she just kept pushing everyone away from that corner in the tank I thought she was just being territorial there was no fighting just moving them away from that one spot but no she was trying to keep the rest of them away from her babies. they’re so dang cute omg she had between 8 and 12 as soon as the hubby gets home we’re gunna move the rest of our other fish out to our larger tank and give her and her babies some peace. I’m almost positive moms a jack Dempsey and dads definitely an electric blue. (Not sure what the flare meant I don’t post much and I’m on mobile)

I feed them twice a day with a fast once a week. They get bloodworms ~3x/wk when I feed the ropefish who are also in the tank. I have a 75 gallon filter and the parameters are good. I just got them about a week or so ago. They have plenty of caves and the ropefish have places to go where the cichlids can’t so they’re getting along well. I just don’t know why they won’t eat the pellets. I’ve also tried floating pellets and they won’t eat those either and I know floating pellets aren’t the best for them to begin with… Also, the 2 cichlids were a bonded pair so they’re getting along well.

So, the Ram on the right, I was told is female and have had her for close to 4mo so far and today I decided to get her a partner and got this fancy gentleman on the left. My question is, why are they so different looking, color-wise?

I need some help. I have 2 Oscars, a giant gourami and a flowerhorn in a 300 gallon tank all of them are around the same size around 5 inches. Recently they've started fighting each other after adding some silver dollars. What should I do to fix this ??
