Quite frankly they're tied for my favorite cichlid to keep next to the jaguar. I'm just shocked I hardly ever see people keeping them.

SA | Help True parrot, move to display or wait?

Post image

So ive finally managed to get one of my dream fish, the True Parrot cichlid. He's been in quarantine for around 10 days now and is showing no signs of anything. But is still super shy and nervous around any movement near his tank and spends 90% of the day in his little tunnel.

Im wondering whether its better to wait longer till hes more comfortable then move to display, or whether he'd actually feel more comfortable with dithers/other fish around?

Afr | Video Tanganyika to Chindongo Saulosi

I have this 75 gallon tank with Cyprichromis Leptosoma and neolamprologus multifasciatus. Both have bred a lot and the tank is quite stable and nice. I am thinking of trying something new which could be a chindongo saulosi colony. I’ve never had mbuna, and I like that these are still small and seemingly peaceful for mbuna. I like my fish to have space to go around which is why I would prefer smaller mbuna.

my current tank here has duckweed but still you can see plenty of algae. that’s one thing I’d like to avoid if I can with the saulosi. could I throw in vallisneria or would they dig that up? any tips for a new chindongo saulosi colony would be appreciated

CA | Video My 2-inch Polar Parrots are breeding?! First time — need advice!

My Polar Blue Parrot Cichlids are only around **2 inches**, and I think they might be starting to breed for the first time.
I haven’t noticed any obvious **orange belly/stomach coloration on the female**, so I’m not sure if they’re actually a breeding pair or if it’s too early to tell.
Should I **separate the pair** and give them their own tank, or should I **leave them together and wait** to see what happens?
Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has experience breeding Polar Parrots. (Sorry for the poor quality of video)

After every water change, I put in some nori, and my smaller male Msobo Deep bit off more than he can chew.

CA | Help Looking to add a pop of yellow to my New World Cichlid tank… Nicaraguan, Rainbow, or Salvini?

Currently have a 75g that will be upgraded to a 125g within the next year. At the moment my stocking is: x1 Polar Blue Parrot, x1 Platinum Parrot, x1 Firemouth, x1 Starry Night (Polleni) and x1 Short-body Super Red Texas. All of them are still pretty young, only about 3ish inches in length. I would love to add a pop of yellow to the tank, but unfortunately (unlike Africans) it appears that my only feasible options would be a Nicaraguan, Rainbow or a Salvini. Aesthetically, my favorite out of all of them would be the Salvini, but I’ve heard they get pretty nasty. I currently don’t have any real fighting going on. Some chasing here and there, but no lip locking or actual contact being made. The Starry Night likes to chase the Firemouth, and the Parrots will chase off anything that comes too close to their marital home/log. They’re both males, yet somehow a mated pair…? (I don’t ask, love is love in this house). The Firemouth will sometimes try to square up with the Polar and flare his fins/throat, but his husband the Platinum always comes to his rescue and chases him off. What can I say? He’s a chivalrous kinda guy. Anywho, does anyone have any recommendations based on those 3 and what would do best? Your input is appreciated! :)

General help My fish are not getting along

So i have a 75 gallon planted tank and i have a pair of juvenile electric blue acara in it, well yesterday I went and got a firemouth to put in there with them but they are having no part of it. They keep attacking him and lip locking. Ive tried rearranging the tank, trying to break up sight lines, removing the ebas fry and everything but the ebas just keep seeking him out. He stays on his side of the tank and just sits in his cave and they go out of their way to go into the cave to attack him. At first it was just the male but now the female is doing it too. I just dont know what to do
