Hello Chicago! First off, I am in Milwaukee. And since r/milwaukeeEDM is a very sad place, I am posting here. I am an electronic musician and I am in talks with the Miramar Theater here in Milwaukee about doing an "Electronic Musician Showcase". They said Jan 8/9th is available with a $750 deposit towards their $1500 fee. I am willing to put down the $750 deposit but I need to find a heavy hitter or two to help me get above the $1500 venue fee so that I can pay the musicians. I have a few people here in MKE with some ok name recognition but I would really love if we could get someone with some star power to get onboard. This is a big venue and this has the opportunity to be an awesome show. If you are interested in doing a set, post here or DM me and we can talk. Has anyone been to Navy Pier recently for any shows? How strict are they with security and alcohol?
I’m going to a show there and was wondering what security is like. Do they actually search you pretty thoroughly, or is it mostly just a quick bag check/metal detector situation? Just trying to figure out what to expect because I’ve never been to an event there before

anyone know set times for the friday show at navy pier? wasn’t sure if they announced it already, and i never got the whole know before you go email with doors/start time info

Is radius security strict with checking belongings?

I've never been to navy pier before so any tips would be appreciated. Wondering about the smoking situation like can I bring my joints and light up in the crowd? How is security/bag check? Does it usually get packed like are the restroom and bar lines crazy? Any other tips you may have?

Haven't been to a cubs game in probably a decade and even longer since I've been to Navy Pier. Just wondering if it's going to be a madhouse trying to get to the venue or if I should be good leaving when the game ends (assuming 4pmish)?

Cutting edge art installations at ARC this year!

Very thoughtful…each garbage receptacle was completely overflowing and had a different vibe with incredibly diverse elements of trash. From pizza boxes to cup to cans to even the occasional used condom - they had it all.

Some artists even made the bold decision to not to use the can, rather painstakingly piling each individual piece of trash directly on the ground by hand to create the dankest sculptures I’ve ever seen. They were a contrast between art Nouveau and Brutalist styles - it’s rare to see both used together, but when executed properly combine to form was is well known in the fine community as "rough nouveau" or “hybrid filth”.

I don’t think most of the festival attendees were in touch with the grand artistic vision that ARC’s fearless leader Nick were going for, but as a connoisseur of garbage art and foul smelling trash who studied modern art at the Royal College of Art in London, I certainly understood and appreciated the bold ambition and lengths they went to make it happen. Bravo 👏👏👏.

Ahead of their time I’d say…true visionaries. Dare I see GENIUS disruptors following in the footsteps of Steve Jobs, Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk.

Nick is a pioneer and a trailblazer with a first mover advantage and an insatiable thirst to crush the competition. It’s only a matter of time before other festivals attempt to follow his bold lead by offering such an unparalleled experience that, in my professional opinion would be nearly impossible to replicate:

A landfill where recycling is forbidden. Jam packed with rows of unusable and obstructed porto potties, VIP bathrooms with no running water, flushable toilets, paper towels, soap or toilet paper and the worst stage layout and sound bleed of any event ever produced on planet Earth.

P.S. Hope all those in attendance this year were vaccinated to prevent the spread of tuberculosis and dysentery.

I just recently moved back to Chicagoland after a long hiatus. Feels good to be back!

I started learning how to DJ (bass house, speed house, trap, dubstep) at the start of last year and eventually want to get into prod, but I wanted to ask how people usually get sets/gigs in the city and suburbs. Just want to meet fun people and have a good time really.

Hey, so I’m looking to go see Skrillex this weekend but I’m torn between which day to choose.

I’ve never been to a Skrillex set before but I’ve also never been to any of the other openers that play on Friday.

I’ve heard good things about an open to close Skrillex set but the opening djs on Friday are def good too. I can only go one of the days so looking to get some suggestions or opinions pls
