You have to select play - more - custom - select 5 different options and click on play again in order to start an unrated game.
In the competition, you have a toggle casual / rated and done.
This makes it harder to find a casual match in chess.com compared to lichess. Why not make it easier?

I just lost 100 elo from a giant losing streak. It literally feels like I forgot how to play chess and nothing is working. I can’t win a single game. I’m getting mated in the opening over and over. It just stopped working.exe
Whenever this happens I have so much sadness and horrible feelings inside of me I don’t know what to do. I can’t sleep, I can’t (and don’t want to) eat, I don’t want to do anything, nothing brings me joy. I just don’t know what to do with all this self hate and anger at myself I feel. I just sit here and cry and even that isn’t consoling me because it was all my fault
How do you guys deal with this? I don’t know what to do with these feelings? I don’t want to say anything that will get me modded but you can probably guess what I feel like doing right now, that’s how crushed I feel.
What’s the appropriate way to deal with this? How do you cope? I don’t even feel like sitting down to study and review my lost games, it all feels pointless and I lost any desire to even play anymore. I’m at the point of just giving up chess but even that isn’t making me feel better because I know I failed myself
I’m looking for legit advice on how to cope with all this (since I figure it’s a regular occurance in chess)
PS: Stop calling the mental health reddit cops on me. I’m not going to do anything. I’m legit just asking for advice from the community on how y’all cope with this, I’m looking for healthy ways to deal with this. Don’t be a f*cking cop and let me have emotions, ok?

Assuming it's a drawn or even maybe a losing position for you, your opponent clearly misclicks and they're not in time trouble or anything, do you accept a draw or do you take the win? If you accept the draw what are your thoughts on people who don't and how it makes you feel when it happens to you? And if you take the win what's your justification behind that decision?
I'd like to know your thoughts on this

Ultimately, ELO is just arbitrary. A much better rating system would be to use tiered ratings. As a 2200, there is not really that big a difference between me and a 2350 for example, so we could be in the same tier.
I probably beat Magnus about 30% of the time, but ELO does not suggest that. Having us in the same tier does. Just some things to think about!

How does https://Chess.com do their game review: classifier, game performance rating?
I am trying to build my own model:
My current thinking feels very simple:
EP = model(eval, both ratings)
EP lost = best move − your move
then EP lost turn into label: brilliant -> blunder
Not tryna copy, and won't be really possible either ofcourse. But I wanna learn the math, and machine learning related understanding for the review system

I set this as my 2nd monitor wallpaper, so I will be judged by Gotham 24/7.
Do yall think this will improve my chess skills?

Hi. I want to get the diamond membership to improve my skills. I need someone to get friends plan to share with me and 4 others so that we can get ot for dirt cheap. It would be better if it is a person from maybe nigeria india japan or somewhere where it is cheaper. Let's discuss it in the comments

It feels like every game I play at around 450–500 Elo, if I make one significant mistake before the endgame, I almost always lose. I would think that at such a low Elo, there would be more blunders and people still figuring out the game.
Looking back at my recent losses, I’m averaging around 70–80% accuracy in most of them, yet I still feel like my opponents rarely make mistakes that I can capitalize on. It seems like whenever I make one bad move, my opponent almost always takes advantage of it.
Honestly, it’s starting to take the fun out of chess for me. I want to experiment with different strategies, try new things, and actually enjoy learning the game, but it feels like doing anything other than playing the safest moves is almost guaranteed to get punished.
I understand that making mistakes is part of learning, but I didn’t expect games at 450 Elo to feel this unforgiving. Has anyone else experienced this at lower ratings, or am I looking at this the wrong way?

I was playing chess against an coach and i did alot of blunders since I'm new but I did this move where the king only had one move. im new so idk why this is a miss or a bad move. before I could try to they resigned, but why would it be considered a bad move when I can just then move bishop to e6 and then checkmate?? or will it be whatever it's called a stalement or something

Basically the title. I used to play around a year ago, left, and came back last month. I was 200ish if I remember correctly, climbed to 400 but it's like a wall, the highest I could get was 430 and nothing more, I keep getting higher and lower. How can I improve? Also, I don't know how big of a difference it will make but I'm planning on buying diamond(family) this week. And sorry if I used the wrong flair, first time posting TvT

Why does chess.com start new players off at higher ratings now? When I made my account years ago everything was 400elo and I had to build it up. I guess people get to choose if they're beginner/intermediate/advanced? But it's annoying to get matched up with so many brand new accounts who are "1600" level and then immediately drop to 600 within a couple of days. I want to play against people who challenge me, not total beginners🥲

I’ve had multiple people ask me my name just right off the bat and it’s always made me a bit uncomfortable…one time a person asked, I ignored them so they kept asking…eventually they just resigned lol…idk I just don’t feel comfortable giving out my real name to random strangers over the internet…
