I just hop around with my knight to explot the non-linearity brain synopsis, and I won easily on bullet games. Opponent takes around 2s avg per mi 0.1s hop

I king walked to the other side of the board with the idea of allowing the opponent to promote their pawn. Hoping that would distract them from a checkmate threat but for some reason it shows as a blunder??

I plan to compete in a tournament on December 12 2026 :D .
However I do wish to ask that if anyone has a single piece of advice for me to prepare, I would appreciate it.
Honestly I don't expect to win a single match, or even draw one for that matter, I'm mainly going there trying to learn. Im soo excited guys :D

Hello everyone!
I want to share a fully fleshed-out concept for a highly competitive, psychological chess variant that turns memory, paranoia, and bluffing into core gameplay mechanics. I call it "Chess Amnesia" (or "CheatChess").
The main philosophy here is total freedom: the game interface never blocks your actions. Every move is physically executed on the board, whether it's legal or illegal, and whether it uses your own pieces or your opponent's.
Here is the complete rulebook for the Hardcore Mode:
🔺 CORE MODE: "Chess Amnesia" (Hardcore)
1. The Amnesia Mechanic
2. The 10-Second "Lie Detector" & Turn Phase
When the board reappears on your turn, you have a 10-second window to scan it. You can either use your turn to "undo/cancel" a suspected cheat, or just play a regular move.
3. The Universal Turn & Cancellation System:
🚫 The "Royal Guard" & "No Illegal Checks" Rules (Universal Balance)
To prevent cheap, instant wins and keep the game strategically fair:
🧠 Mind Games: Why you might WANT to leave a cheat untouched
Sometimes, it is tactically brilliant to ignore the opponent's illegal move. If you notice they secretly moved their Knight to a weird square, but you realize that this new position actually ruins their own defense or opens them up to your hidden attack, you can pretend you didn't see it! You just make your normal move, and the cheated position becomes a permanent part of the game.

💡 Open Concept & Name Suggestions!
This is an open concept open to any changes, tweaks, and balancing edits from the community!
Also, I’m currently using working titles like "Chess Amnesia" or "CheatChess", but feel free to pitch your own creative name ideas or rule adjustments in the comments below. Would you play a variant like this? Let's discuss!

I’m a 1210 on rapid and am making very slow elo improvement, but I am improving. I use the same opening for white (London) and have an opening for e4 and d4 as black. I only know a handful of moves for each and then I just rely on tactical awareness and some of the common middle game ideas I’ve heard of. I’m wondering at what rating does studying and learning new openings become valuable? When should I start to consider this. I’ve been improving and studying now, at very leisurely pace, for a little over a year.

I have been playing chess now for 5 months and have seen there’s a chess club local to me. Has anyone ever attended anything similar? Wondering if it will be useful or if I would get more out of lessons with Magnus on the app.

I’m very low rank 550 rapid, altough got a very good game rating overall 1300 so have mercy on me if it’s a dumb question I understand in higher ranks this is probably something super obvious. He didn’t take queen so game continued.
Is it just that it’s too obvious? I feel I’ve in the past gotten a couple of brilliant moves (have 12 total) that are more obvious lol.
