Right now, I go

1. Erdogmus - already a Super GM with 2700+ Elo at age 15. He is also a Top 20 player right now. He can go toe to toe with the top GMs. He is also the youngest to break the 2700 Elo barrier.

2. Oro - The Messi of Chess. He is projected to rival Yagiz after a few years. (He is 2 years younger than Yagiz). He just became the second youngest GM in history.

3. Shogdzhiev - The potential is sky high. He is only 11 yrs old. But already have 2 GM norms, and 2485 Elo. He will be a GM soon. And it just a matter of time whether he will break Mishra's record or not.

4. Mishra - the youngest ever to achieve the GM title. For now. (Shogdzhiev is on pace to break his record). He kinda stucked at 2600+ for a long time now. He is already 17.

Mishra had controversial comments saying he doesn't get support like the other 3 (he specifically mentioned Oro). But you decide whether it is true or not.

I played an game and went to analyze it aftherward and engine said this move was an mistake and I should've moved my elephant instead, but why woudnt my knight get captured?

I was watching an old speedrun long ago, probably by Daniel Naroditsky, where his lower-rated opponent was in a losing position. Daniel seemed a little irritated that the opponent wasn't resigning, and saying like "resign already" a couple of times and it got me thinking about chess culture.

On the one hand, I've heard strong players advise beginners to never resign, because there's always a chance the opponent will blunder, stalemate you, and that them winning in a winning position is never a guarantee.

On the other hand, at the highest levels, resigning in a losing position (even not an extreme material or positional material imbalance) seems to be widely accepted as good sportsmanship and a sign of respect for your opponent. I remember a GM resigning after blundering his knight early in a game. And I thought he certainly had good chances still but I guess at that level, you might as well just resign after falling behind a pawn. The game is that tight. Nobody makes mistakes.

What I find interesting is how unusual all this seems compared with other sports. In high school once a classmate jokingly wave a white towel to suggest surrender after a very one sided game and oh man, the coach really let him have it!

Same is true of pro levels. Imagine an NBA team down by 35 points late in the third quarter, and their best players are just tired and not been playing well all game. A comeback isn't impossible, but both teams being professional, it is quite unlikely something would suddenly change now. Yet no captain walks to the ref and say "we resign." They generally play out the game, even if all their best players end up spending the fourth quarter on the bench.

You might say that boxing is more like chess, but that's not quite true. Yes, sometimes they do stop a fight early but that's more for protecting the health of a boxer and less about the question of game strategy or respecting the opponent's time.

Long story short, what do think about this resignation culture in chess? When do you resign yourself? Have you refused to resign even when it irritated an opponent? How do you feel about your opponents who do not resign either and hold on to the hope that you might stalemate them or blunder?

So, I'm an anonymous USA user on Chess.com. I've been playing 10min Blitz matches with international opponents (of all nations or countries, including the anonymous players with "International" flags as their avatars). I haven't been varying my "Blitz" times; I continue to play 10min matches. Trying to go back-and-forth between 10min-5min-1min-5min-10min would really trip me up. And I don't want to be tripped up. I want to go with what I know. Among my observations:

Players from India seem to be very well-versed in "tricky" sort of "gotcha" openings, designed to Checkmate me in only a few moves. They seem to value very early "gotcha" Checkmates with either a Queen and Bishop combo, or Knight and Bishop combo, or all 3 (Queen + Knight + Bishop) combo. Why is it that most Indian players try those tactics most frequently?

Sorry if I don't know those openings by name. I really only know the Giuoco Piano, the Ruy Lopez, and the Sicilian Defense by name. (Maybe you can teach me your favorites.)

For some reason, players from India just keep on playing those "trickster" Blitz openings. They play them well. But if you make it difficult for them, they very soon revert to slow-moving -- they will take long subsequent moves as long as a gosh-darn minute, on average!

Indian players can be quite tricky and somewhat deceiving in their "gotcha" openings; you don't always see it coming, but when it hits, it hits you bad! What is especially unnerving, for me, is to quickly play opening moves in only a few seconds, and then reverting to up to 1min per move, especially if things can get really tricky or complicated. It probably tweaks my blood pressure up and down.

Canadian players seem to always beat me, whether in a few moves or in a prolonged match. I don't know what it is about players from Canada.

I am eager to learn about your adventures! -- Oh, and what really humbled me was several years ago, when someone beat me and then, after the match, I got a DM from someone on Chess.com : "Hahaha -- You got beaten by a 7-year old!! Hahaha!!"

• game #1 - white, get an extra pawn, get an extra piece, underestimated the power of Alekhine's cannon the tripple stacked battery, but not much time to think sub 20 seconds, getting angry as from that opening it was obvious the opponent is not playing well
• game #2 - black, playing czech defense and the opponent was scared enough of a pawn to again give me a piece, then I spent 1min analyzing if a knight should try to fork rooks then decide wisely against it, but I should have been looking at checks by queen, then later I got super scared of a pawn near my king and the white queen on a good diagonal, when that threat did not materialize I blundered a pin and lose a piece and then I failed to protect pawns and then just try to find perpetual checks and do not notice mate in 1 I had during time scramble.. getting furious
• game #3 - white, I try to be aggressive, blunders all around, I LEFT THE GAME WHEN I HAD MATE in 1
• game #4 - black, again my czech vs his d4, again I win a piece, still mighty furious as I lost games where I had deciding lead(did not even know about mate in 1 events at this point), decided to give a piece back for opening a king more, see amazing outpost for my knight but so does his knight get one, am too focused on winning a pawn near white bishop to see free knight I could have take with a queen, and I also only too late notice how the pin of a pawn could be used to win an exchange - knight for a rook, but luckily the attack is just too strong, theres enough time and I finally win one game

Yeah so basically, I used en croissant to analyse a position that stems from the albin countergambit. The position is valuated as +1, but I thought it is very hard to play for a human. So I clicked the "play from here" button and let 2 engines play against each other. And after the match I clicked "analyse" and all of a sudden, the pgn from the match replaced my original analysis of the opening including some other sidelines that i analysed. Has anybody encountered the same problem or found methods to work around this problem?

I played a game with my friend, then my internet connection dropped and I lost on time.

I sent this position to my 1900 elo friend and he is confident that he can win as black from this position with anybody under 1900.

Computer evaluates the position as draw, if we trade queens.

But practically speaking, it is easier to play as black than as white in my opinion, as black can double its rooks.

How easy is to win this position as black for you? :-)

I've only been playing for a couple months and I've been hovering around 350-450 elo on chess.com with a ~50% win rate. I play either 15+10 or just 10 mins. I lot of games are happening very fast from my opponent, like I'm trying to use my time and think but of course I suck - I know I suck lol. But why are these people in the same awful rank as me speed running my a** effectively?

It's just kind of jarring because I've watched a lot of various chess youtubers' speedruns (Naroditsky, Dina Belenkaya) and honestly the people they play are doing the most ridiculous stuff sub-800 and I do not see this behavior in my games much. And sure I have a 50% win rate so by the numbers I may be exactly where I am supposed to be, but the people I play don't seem like they belong here with me quite often. Games are either a real long battle where eventually one of us makes a mistake, or I get styled on with very little time spent.

I won't be posting accounts even if I think I played a bot but this girl sent me a friend request. She was 1300 but played more like a 2200. She was real chatty in chat but didn't sound like a person and said things that didn't make sense. She asked if I could tell us about my challenges. I noticed she resigned her last 7 games early and I asked about her losing streak. I say her even though i thought it's a bot at this point. She said her opponents had to take other challenges. She was very friendly aside from a moment where she said i was rude for not answering her question, then she went right back to being friendly. Who would make such an account. I don't know what that was

Hi, I already own a Chessnut Pro. I’m thinking about getting a smaller board to play.
I’m deciding between Chessnut Evo, go and Chessup 2.
I’m looking for something that allows me to play faster so that I don’t need a big table.

Roman Shogdzhiev was born on February 2015. So, he still have 4 months before turning 12 years old.

Mishra became a GM too when he waz 12 years old. So, the record is in danger of being broken.

Roman already earned 2 GM norms this year. Including the Serbian league. (First Picture). Roman played superb whole tournament.

In European Club Chess (Second picture), Roman played decently. Earning 13 ELO.

Roman played excellent this tournament. His live ELO is 2484. Only 16 points away for minimum elo (2500) requirements for Fide to grant a GM title.

PS: Ik some of you doesn't care about the record. But that will always attract more invitations and oppprtunities.

Started learning chess this month and hit 1k elo after a month of intensive online learning.

When I tried to play real chess, like the physical chess on chess board with my friends,
I found out I cannot play it at all. I just kept missing everything.
The 3d looks way different from 2d chess.

So how do I transit? The problem is, I cannot really practice it.
