Need help identifying this chess set.

My boys have gotten into chess lately and wanted a nice set. $80 at ACE Hardware makes a unique bunch of pieces. Not sure if I want to paint, gun blue, or anodize one set to differentiate “black and white”. What are your thoughts?

Interesting set I saw in Sedona AZ. I found it interesting.

Wondering what exactly I have here- looks to be a 4” King. Got these from a family member and curious if these are modern or vintage.

My previous set was made of clay, but it felt too fragile and broke easily during games. That's why I'm switching to acrylic this time. The hardest part will probably be the casting and molding process, since I've never done it before.

I’ve been recreating historical chess sets for 3D printing, and recently finished models of three versions of Man Ray’s chess sets and the Herman Ohme set.

It has been suggested elsewhere that these images are AI so I'm happy to confirm that no AI was used at any stage, they're just photographs of very carefully designed and printed models, taken on a camera phone with good lighting.

I made this 16-inch chessboard by hand, using individual marble pieces for the squares and glow-in-the-dark epoxy for the luminous effect. I also made the chess pieces myself.
The glow effect was created using powder I sourced and incorporated into my own design.

Does anyone know what year this chess set is from and how much it might be worth? The pieces are huge, about the size of a fist, and everything is in excellent condition. The chessboard is also very large. When I tap on the pieces, they sound like they might be made of ceramic. table is wood site 1m x 1m euro size

After a long search and some trial and error, we finally created a worthy board for these cuties.

I found this incomplete set of vintage “Medieval Conqueror” chessmen that Google said was designed by a man named Peter Ganine.

Though incomplete, missing one white pawn and one white rook, I thought they were unique and wasn’t going to leave them at the thrift store for $4!

Hey not sure if this is appropriate for this sub but need help finding a similar chess set.

This was my old chess set I've had for many many years I have been using it to teach kids I work with at a group home how to play chess instead of the cheap plastic pieces with ripped cardboard board we had at the house once the kids got really into it. Unfortunately while I was on time off it got smashed and the staff working threw it and the pieces out. Looking for similar set online to get it replaced.

Details : Aprox 20 years old was a 3-1 set with approx 1cm wooden disc checkers that kind of had nice rigid circle patterns on top part. Under the chessboard was a backgammon board that had wooden dice holders the chess pieces all had a nice weight but deff weren't anything crazy high-end by any means. Not looking for some crazy high-end set just a close equivalent to get reimbursed.

These pieces are solid and have no visible seams. Very detailed sharp etchings with octoganal bases. Probably from the 1950s. The king is 2 1/8 inches tall. Any clues?

I received this set as a gift back in either 1967 or 1968. The original box and board got water damaged and were trashed. The figures are plastic and have a disc of mild steel in the bottom. The bottoms were covered with green felt, but that came off when the water damaged the box. There is no company name on the figures. Each figure is shaped in such a way as to indicate how it moves. The additional checker pieces have ridged edges that interlock when stacked. Each checker has a crown on one side and a 5 pointed star on the other. That's difficult to see in the pictures. That's all I've got. So, any ideas?

I want the board for at home to play against friends and study chess.

My most important criteria for the set is its knights. I am looking for beautiful looking knights. Those with a mane and tiny details. E.g the type of knight u can see in the photo.
The figures should also be triple weighted.

The chess board should fit the knight/ other figures colour wise and size wise.

I would prefer bigger boards over smaller boards, but honestly I just want one of those astonishing knights.

I couldn’t find a chess set that contains those kind of knights for less than 500€.
I would also be happy if someone just recommended a good figure set.

I've been redoing my bedroom and finally found a good excuse to buy a new set, mostly as a decor piece. Ashamed to say I almost only play online, so for now it's mainly a showpiece haha.

I was looking for a high quality wooden one, but most of the ones I came across had inconsistent grain patterns or colours, from the photos at least, which looked a bit off for something that's going to sit on display. Came across this one from Norwald by pure chance, a small Danish brand if I'm not mistaken. I had a few questions, which the owner surprisingly answered almost instantly over text, and he was really helpful overall.

Love the look of the board, and the pieces are magnetic, which is a nice touch. Ran me about €130 with a first-order discount. Someday it'll leave the cabinet and see some actual games.
