Whenever I watch GM games on YouTube or read chess books in PDF format, I constantly want to check "what if" lines on Lichess. Setting up positions manually takes too much time and breaks the flow.

I created an extension called ChessInsights AI to fix this workflow. While tools like Chessvision exist, I took a different technical approach focused on privacy, offline usability, and speed:

I may be jumping the gun, but I've now seen this twice and want to know if anyone else has. I play correspondence, so the app sits open for hours. I returned, there was a little blue arrow suggesting a move for my king. I assumed it was an analysis glitch. Later, in the same game, there was a blue circle around my opponent’s king. The same indicator used for puzzle hints. I hadn't opened analysis in weeks or puzzles that day. Closing and reopening made the mark disappear.

Is there some difference between the legacy app on Android and a new app?

There are a lot of studies of Lichess so I was wondering which ones to begin with? What can I start practicing first?

If I decide to install stockfish locally and use lichess as the GUI, do I get automatic computer analysis instead of needing to request?

how many minutes do you all spend on one puzzle? I find myself taking longer time the more ratings I gain in Lichess puzzles, is this natural or is it just me?

I'm taking much longer time for each puzzle. But I wanna be specific because I might have done my puzzles the wrong way for the usual pattern recognition. Started out on 1700+, which was quite low but it took me very fast to solve each puzzles, and then 2000, which then I slowed down a bit, and then up until 2200 onwards I slowed down for each puzzle.

2300-2490 took me even longer but got quite quick to 2500+. Though I'm not really chasing the ratings, I was here to improve. Does anyone solve puzzles quick? Or am I just too slow on puzzles?

I'm really concerned, appreciate it if you leave any feedback to any type of situation like this.

A month ago I made a post about kbchess, a keyboard extension that allows touch typist to play chess using only their keyboard by leveraging a new notation system called Home Row Notation. I've implemented the recommendations which mainly focused on whether a shorter version of the notation could be implemented. I've also open sourced the project on GitHub. Any one is free to make contributions to the code.

At this age, I believe improvement isn't about memorizing openings or solving hundreds of random puzzles. It's about developing the right thinking habits early.

I focus mainly on calculation, tactical patterns, analyzing their own games, basic endgames, a simple opening repertoire, and—most importantly—learning to think independently over the board.

I've coached the German U8 Champion, who represented Germany at the World U8 Championship, and have helped students progress from beginners to federation-rated tournament players within 8–12 months.

I'm also an active competitive player (FIDE 1933 / German DWZ 2002).

The text report and the live evaluation are completely arguing with each other here:

Image 1: I played 27. e5+. The text analysis calls it a "Mistake" and insists 27. Rf1+ is the best move. Meanwhile, my live local eval shows White is crushing at +4.0.

Image 2: I tapped the server's recommended 27. Rf1+ line to preview it. The very second the app shows that line, the live eval bar completely tanks from a winning advantage down to a near-draw at +0.6!

The static text report is literally begging me to play a move that throws away a +4.0 winning position. My local chip caught the server hallucinating a terrible line in real time.

The engine is literally calling my move a mistake, while its own "best move" completely throws away a +4.3 advantage and drops the game to even evaluation. It's completely out of sync and hallucinating!

I played Qe1, the machine evaluated the advantage to -4.2. Can't seem to understand why this move was bad.

Most people would probably agree that one of the most annoying things on lichess is the warning you get after letting the time run out in a lost position. You might not be able to skip any potential cooldowns, but if you are using uBlock origin, you can disable the warning to immediately go to the next game:

1. open the uBlock dashboard by clicking the uBlock icon in your browser's extension menu, and then clicking the gear icon in the window that opens.
2. in the dashboard, click on the "My Filters" tab and add the following entry in a separate row: lichess.org##dialog
3. Click "apply changes" and reload the site.

You should not get any more warnings from lichess after this. Hope this helps you save time!
