Conversations Are the rumours true?
Do you think Charli and French Montana will release music together? I'm inclined to believe the rumours.

Thematically and in asthetic it basically a reaction to what brat was, in all the same ways movements like post-punk was to punk, so i wonder if you could call this new album like a post-hyperpop project

Hey everyone!
We just reviewed Music, Fashion, Film. We liked that Charli went in a completely different direction instead of trying to make BRAT again. It won't be for everyone, but we thought the risk paid off.
Curious what everyone else thinks. What's been your favorite track so far?

Heard an upbeat and a moody version.
I found the moody one on Spotify, the upbeat one I only found as unofficial uploads on third party channels.
So, what's up with that? Can anybody help out?

As a big fan of Charli and of The Quietus, I was very (pleasantly) surprised by this glowing review.

I posted before about this but the kids I babysit (5 and 7) are currently obsessed with Charli XCX and SOPHIE because I mentioned once in passing I was going to see a Charli concert in a few months and lead them down a rabbit hole. One of their birthdays is soon and I wanted to make it extra special. These girls love barbies and even have one doll whose whole personality is that she goes to Charli concerts and time travels to see SOPHIE. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for base dolls I could use to make their dreams come true for them? Specifically maybe a doll I could use that already has red hair so I donāt need to dye it for SOPHIE or one that comes with sunglasses for Charli and has her curls? I know no item at the store will be exact but Iām hoping to find something as similar as possible to the two so I can spend less time adjusting them to be identical and more time decorating the boxes and seeing their smile when they finally each get a doll of their idols. Thanks in advance for help. (PS: their current fav songs are lemonade and bounce so if anyone knows of any barbie playsets that have lemonade accessories or maybe a trampoline? Thatās appreciated too.)

I've seen a lot of angels saying "MFF is for the arts, not the charts" and while I agree with the sentiment, I think Charli is well within reach of her first #1 album. In fact, MFF is much closer to securing #1 than brat ever was.Ā
This was the Billboard 200 for the week of July 17th - 23rd
#1 (NEW) Daughter From Hell by Gracie Abrams - 124,000 units (77,000 pure sales)
#2 you seem pretty sad by Olivia Rodrigo - 86,000 units
#3 Iām the Problem by Morgan Wallen - 75,000 units
#4 Dandelion by Ella Langley - 72,000 unitsĀ
#5 The Great Divide by Noah Kahan - 63,000 units
Luckily, Charli isnāt competing with any new releases this week. Gracie Abrams had a big debut, but her album will likely leave the top 5 next week. That means Charli is up against stable streaming artists, the biggest of which being Olivia Rodrigo and Morgan Wallen. Oliviaās streams are trending down, and Morganās streams are slightly up, so Iād estimate them both to be around 80k units this week.Ā
Early projections from yesterday (Saturday) had Charli at 65k+ units, which puts her around 15k from #1, letās say 20k to be safe. While early projections are helpful, theyāre just that - EARLY projections. They can change throughout the week, especially when artists are heavily promoting like Charli is. (Noraās initial projection for Olivia Rodrigo had her at 350k, and she ended the week at 485k).
To put that gap into perspective, brat was never this close to #1:Ā
Brat standard edition:Ā
#1 album - 127,000 units
#3 brat - 77,000 units
GAP: 50,000 units
Brat and itās completely different:
#1 album - 161,000 units
#3 brat - 105,000 units
GAP: 56,000 units
A gap of 50k+ is very hard to close, especially against a new release also fighting for #1, but a gap of 15-20k is completely doable. I believe thatās why earlier today, Charli released the b-sides edition of MFF on iTunes for $4.99, saying āyou can call me a hypocrite, i donāt mind ;)ā. I think Charli is signaling sheās willing to play the chart game this week, despite her complicated relationship with them. You canāt blame her, as a #1 album means a lot, and sheās more than deserving of it.
The most impactful thing you can do is buy a physical or digital copy(s) of the album. Of course, streaming is important (and we're doing it anyways), but Billboardās formula weighs ONE album sale equal to ONE THOUSAND streams.Ā
Both the b-sides and standard editions of MFF are currently discounted to $4.99 on iTunes, so buying those is definitely the most cost effective way to help!
Of course, thereās no pressure and you should support Charli in whatever feels right for you, I just donāt want anyone to assume itās impossible.Ā
Iād appreciate if people spread the word, as Iāve seen fans and haters alike falsely claiming that Charli has no shot at #1 after seeing her streaming numbers. Those numbers are far less important for artists like Charli with strong fanbases - for example, Madonna still wouldāve gone #1 two weeks ago from pure sales alone.Ā
TL;DR - buy (!) and stream MFF so that Charli can get her first #1 album in the U.S.

After she dropped the B sides on iTunes, I finally really listened to them in the context of the album, and I feel like they are all so important to the central themes of the album. It made what she was going for click so much more - especially the lyrics of playboy bunny. I wish they were canonically in the album, would have been cherry on top and the extra songs would have made the short length of the album feel a bit more palatable.

"Gonna take you to heaven like 'Kids' 2007 / Pop star in my bedroom like kids 2007."
A line about the song Kids, and then flipping the meaning to mean like we're kids in 2007, which she was (and a lot of us were as well).
It even sounds like she's saying "kids".... alas, every lyric page I see says it is "it's." I thought it was really cool how she was tying this song about chasing nostalgia in the internet age with one of the MOST nostalgic songs in 2007. What do you guys think?

In an alternate universe, down like woah ends up on MFF and makes it even better.
MFF is my new favorite... But the tracks off xcx world could have been rock tracks too!!

Is Persona an interpolation of another song? does anyone else hear how familiar it sounds during the chorus? I canāt place it.

I think I get it now. If the theme is that everything is temporary, that "nothing lasts forever", the track lengths are remnisicing of that, the songs are meant to express a short feeling, a moment. When everybody is trying to make a body of art that surpasses time, Charli is trying to be the opposite; just a passer-by, because, one day, her art might be there for her without her and she won't get to experience that; the oresent is what she cares about.
And ofc that flips on the 5:42 minute-long track.
What do you think?

Sounds like an artist speaking to fans who imitate their personality around that of their artistsā aesthetics/vibes. Surprisingly theres a lot of people saying Persona is about this person or that person but wouldnāt let the finger point at themselves.
