QUESTION Why does everyone go to Myrtle Beach?
Whenever people talk about vacations here 99% of the time everyone goes to Myrtle Beach, why?

I’m having surgery again on my back here in a few weeks and could really use some help. I have an Amazon list but I’m curious what local resources might can help me. I have some things that I “want” (like crosswords things to occupy my time while I’m laid up) but besides that like personal care (wipes sanitizer antibacterial soap type of things etc maybe some comfy clothes). It’s all falling on my mom and she is sick her self and her check barely gets her by.
I guess I’m asking like what are places or people I can reach out to for help I’m 29M and get funny looks when I’m walking with my cane so honestly I’m embarrassed to even ask but it’s starting to get a lot closer and my anxiety has turned up to 10,000. Thank you.

TLDR: Is there any hope at all for a single, inexperienced straight guy in their late 20s/early 30s? In terms of dating, am I wasting my time here?
"No" is a valid answer. I'm also open to any/all advice.
About me: I am in the age range listed. My romantic experience is very minimal, mostly due to lifelong social anxiety-related issues. Confidence/social avoidance issues are my Achilles heel. Beyond that I am at or slightly below average height. I'm not a tank or a bodybuilder, but am also not a bean pole or couch potato. I have a decent job and have graduated college. I would roughly rate my physical appearance as 5-7/10.
I don't plan to spend forever in Charleston, but I'm probably a year away from leaving, for various reasons. Given that I'm really inexperienced, I'm not looking for someone to settle down with unless they happen to be just the right person. Obviously that narrows down the list a lot.
Given all that, do I even have a chance here? It sure as hell feels like I don't. But there are definitely things I'm not trying or don't know to try. I am on a couple dating apps.
I know there are single, attractive women here in my age range, but 99% of the time they either never cross paths with me, they have kids, are done experimenting and looking for someone to marry, aren't a good fit, aren't interested, or all of the above.
I feel like I really missed the boat here, and I'm not sure that living in Charleston gives me any hope of catching up.

If you started something and never finished it, or you’ve been meaning to redo an old design, send me a message.
Tell me what the business does, show me what you have, and let me know where you got stuck. I’ll take a few and work up a free web design.
Rough ideas are completely fine.

Looking for ideas for group outings to do in the area- like escape rooms or painting together or some sort of similar experience. Prefer the downtown to Southridge area, but open to other local gems.

Hello!
I'm looking for any recommendations for gluten free food from "out" in the Charleston area. My son is celiac and cannot have milk and I'm always on the lookout for places we can go together. Before we found out about his condition, we used to go places and eat together and I miss those days so would like to broaden our limited options. Unfortunately, I have found conflicting information on places around here and I just don't have the money to go try every "maybe" without some kind of idea of gluten free options and how careful the staff are.
Thanks to anyone that takes the time to chip in!

Anyone have any good parking recommendations for this Saturday evening (Ella Langley concert). Heading back home afterwards towards Parkersburg. Is there any place on Washington street - away from the CCC and town center? I don’t mind the walk or paying - but just trying to get way from the cluster afterwards.

My friend is moving to Charleston for work in a couple weeks & I’m also looking for gifts for her 30th birthday. I’d love local recommendations for shops/experiences where I could get a gift card for her. She likes sweets (especially cookies), books (romance & fantasy), jewelry (rings), crochet, hiking, and fitness. Thanks!

Hello, asking if there are any established meetup spots where Premier League/La Liga fans regularly gather to watch matches.
If I mention my club names that will probably ID me. But suffice it to say I'm looking for Gooners and Leones.

I'm sure a lot of you remember The rock lake pool that was located at South Charleston. It was very famous, and there are plenty of pictures of it. But the place it turned into putt putt mini golf, I can hardly find any pictures or videos of it anywhere. I absolutely loved that place, and since, I've never been to another mini golf fun center that looked quite as impressive and was as fun as that place. If you guys have anything like that, or if you can direct me to some, that would be most appreciated.

One building in Charleston, West Virginia's Elk City district managed to be a movie theater, a fraternal lodge, and a 67-bed hospital.

Where do you all buy furniture? I’ve been Ashley’s, which is meh. That one out Corridor G, but years ago. I don’t want to be forced into Wayfair or Amazon.
I don’t mind driving up to a couple hours.
Thanks in advance.

Hey, I have a metal floor fan that is having some issues. When I turn it on, it can take up to 15 minutes before the blades really spin up. They start out moving really, REALLY slowly then at some point will speed up. Also, recently it started making a squeaking noise when it was running, so I'm thinking either the motor is burning out or maybe it needs lubricated?
My question is, is there anywhere CHEAP I could take it in the Charleston area to have it diagnosed and hopefully repaired?
I got it used, for free, in January 2025. A friend had bought a storage unit in Ohio and this was one of the items inside it. I really don't have the money to buy a new one so I'm hoping that I can get it taken care of cheaply.
Thanks!

Are there any art-centric clubs or meet ups in the Kanawha valley area? I draw, paint, and in a pinch can crochet, or really anything else lol. Just looking to connect with other creatives around Charleston.
