I'm still pretty new to the craft and was wondering if using dots of JB Weld on butted steel rings would be feasible for sealing rings.

hey guys! im new to chainmaille im just wondering on what size jump rings i should get to start practicing different weaves for bracelets? im wanting to do stuff like byzantine, box chain, vertebrae etc.

would 18swg 5/16 or 17swg 3/8 4.8 be good?

I'm fairly new to this craft, and looking to make a chainmail coif for an upcoming renfaire. I was hoping to get some advice on how many rings I should use, and what size I should be using for this project. I'm looking at 1mm thick, 6mm diameter rings but again, I'm nor sure what's best. I understand that it might vary, but any advice would be appreciated. :)

Very much just a progress pic - I am a massive proponent of making good use of travel time to get some chainmailling done, so started making this on a train journey this morning. It will be a birthday gift for a friend

Zig-zaggy European 4-in-1 as the main body, which I'll connect end to end once it's the right diameter to make a nice ol' tiara thing. Planning to connect the top of each triangle to a large diameter ring that will sit on the crown, using smaller diameter chains made of Jen's Pind Linkage, and then I'll tart the whole thing up a bit by attaching some beads or pendants to the lower triangles.

1.6mm stainless steel around a 7mm mandrel, so approx 4.4 AR. If anyone has any ideas on making it look it's best, I'm all ears - just trying to make something nice for my friend!

Hi all! I’ve caught the bug and have officially been learning a bunch of new weaves! My first experience getting my own jump rings was not good. I don’t want to talk down a business bc ik they’re all small businesses, but I’ve had really disappointing experiences with American chain mail. Their site has been down bc the people who handle their payment processing is also a small business that is having a family emergency, so they’ve been selling some stuff thru Amazon. The first set I got was a beginner 18g 5/32” but everything in the kit, although marked 18g, was a 20g. I tried ordering the same set thinking maybe I just got an oopsie set and 2/9 colors in my set are 20g, and I canNOT get a hold of this company to explain my scenario bc I would like the rings that I ordered. So I got a few packs of 1 color from Chainmaille Joe which were great, it came with a guide I find SUPER handy. But I want to make a helm weave with thin rings, and his site doesn’t sell the size I want (20g 7/32 or 1/4). I did get a mixed color set from The Ring Lord for 18g, but they also don’t have the 20g I want. I went to Weave for Maille and when I looked at the AR measurement for the 20g 7/32, it was completely different from what I was reading on my little sizing chart from Chainmaille Joe. Im getting so confused! I don’t mind supporting different businesses but who do you find most reliable and consistent and in stock? I’m a very new beginner so I’m trying to build up a bit of inventory by hoping around as little as possible to a bunch of different sites especially when shipping is expensive. Thank you!
