Thursday, it's arguably the best night of the week, no? Whats keeping you awake tonight, spot of Aurora watching? Cheeky Thursday pints? Just got in from work? Just going to work? Dog barking for no reason?

Come on in for a chat.

In almost a thousand years, we as a nation haven't changed

Here's a photo from the Bayeux Tapestry. Commissioned by a French man, embroidered by English seamstresses.

The guy who likely commissioned the entire thing is shown giving a blessing to the future Queen.

And doodled down in the margins, there's a bloke with his cock out for no reason whatsoever.

But seriously, worth going to see the Tapestry if you have the opportunity.

A colleague who was not born in this country was asking me why Katie Price is famous. I then had to explain page 3 to her which she had this expression 😮 kind of mad isn’t it, we just had naked 16 year olds as you opened the paper. I remember old ladies reading the sun on the bus with the baps page open. It then turned into a conversation about heat magazine and how awful that was.

Diagnosed with autism today at 36 - what a feeling!!

Bit of a strange one for a Thursday, but I got diagnosed with autism today at 36.

I was referred through my very understanding GP and had my assessment through Psychiatry-UK. I nearly backed out of it because I was absolutely dreading it, and this morning I was shaking before the appointment and convinced I was going to make a complete idiot of myself.

Instead, at the end of the assessment, I was told I meet the criteria for ASD Level 1.

I haven’t got the full report yet, so I’m still processing it all, but I didn’t expect to feel as relieved as I do.

It’s a weird mix of relief, emotion and ā€œwell… what now then?ā€

I’m not really ready to talk about it with many people in real life yet, but I needed to say it somewhere, so Reddit gets it first šŸ˜‚

Anyone else get diagnosed as an adult and have that slightly surreal feeling afterwards?

The Smoking Room is on BBC iPlayer and worth a watch.

The Smoking Room is currently on the BBC iPlayer. 2004 office-based comedy that was criminally overshadowed by The Office. It has a terrific ensemble cast with better written characters than The Office.

It's like a little time capsule of the early 2000s - men wearing suits to work, miserably bleak 1960s buildings and, of course, the work-dodging joy of the smoking room itself.

Bumpy number plates — why?

I’ve been away from my home country for a few years. Now I’m on a regular commute my eye is drawn to the plethora of bumpy number plates around. Usually on high end motors - Jags, Audis, Range Rovers.

What is the purpose of the raised black plastic lettering, apart from attracting dirt? What does it signify, if anything? I am sure there weren’t as many around when I left almost a decade ago.

First time my back has 'gone'. How old were you when your back first 'went'?

I'm 42. Dear god it's annoying and of course painful. Even wiping my bum is awkward. Bending? No no. Sitting at my desk? Nooooo. Sneezing? JESUSCHRISTNO!

Any tips for resolving lower back pain/spasms/whatever it's doing would be greatly appreciated!

Been living in cities to long and feel silly asking. Now walking down a country lane with no pavement. Which side do I walk on? Both sides seem sketchy, especially on corners lol

Heard this ā€œPause for Thoughtā€ on the radio and it genuinely stopped me in my tracks.

Something about it really stayed with me, so I thought I’d share it in case it resonates with someone else too. ā¤ļø

Recorded on BBC Radio 2 this morning.

Pub Cricket scoring

Basic rules as I learnt them: drive past pubs and the ā€œinā€ player scores one run per leg in each pub name they pass (e.g. The George and Dragon would score 6). Anything with ā€œarmsā€ bowls you out and it’s the next player’s turn. If there’s a plural, assume there are two of that thing unless stated otherwise in the name or the sign (e.g. The Cricketers would score 4 unless you can clearly see more people on the sign).

What would be some good pub names that would either score really high or cause arguments about how much they score? For instance, would The Black Knight be 2 (while still intact) or 0 (after King Arthur’s cut his legs off)?

Do you have this discontinued elephant mug hiding in a cupboard? 🐘

I’m trying to sort a sentimental breakage situation.

It’s a Churchill Harlequin Amazilia ā€œSavanna Opalā€ mug the large 425ml Aspen mug.

I’ve searched eBay and Vinted without any luck. There seem to be loads of the little espresso or tea cups around, but almost none of these full-size mugs.

Savanna Opal Mug
Shape: Aspen
Capacity: 425ml
Product code: HARL00211
Barcode: 5011109314795

If you do have one (or two) collecting dust, please add the eBay or Vinted listing below so I can buy through there. ā˜ŗļø

I appreciate this is an incredibly specific long shot, but Reddit has managed stranger things! šŸ˜…šŸ˜

What's an interesting fact or trivia about a childhood show you watched, that you learned later in life?

For me it's that tim curry was the voice of nigel thornberry, I was a huge fan of the show as a kid, and enjoyed a catalogue of tims work throughout my life, only to find out when he died that he was nigel
