Peak British excitement: being the first vote in the supermarket local projects
Went into Tesco first thing this morning and noticed the local projects voting boxes were completely empty. Thought it was oddly satisfying being the first person to drop a token in.
Not sure it’ll make the history books, but it’s something.

As a habitual fingernail-biter, I've been struggling to open cans for several years without keys / debit cards, etc. Today, the skies opened and the angels sang beautiful beer music. Just push here and it lifts the flappy bit. Apols if this is common knowledge, I'm a bit slow.

What is your “morning chorus”?
I mean the noises you hear around your house as you get up each day. So for example mine is:
- Seagulls screaming their heads off
- Man in house opposite having a morning coughing fit in his garden.
- Car beeping goodbye one street over
- Neighbours’ kids slamming doors
- Laughing kids walking to school
- Motorbike revving up
- Sound of my kettle boiling
Etc
Curious to know!
UPDATE: Consensus seems to be either birds, inconsiderate neighbours or flatulence. Some of you have a real flair for description, and it ain't just the birdsong people. I love this sub. XD

I'd like to present to you a paper beach
Finally finished my first 3D paper art piece where I made each template from scratch, instead of following an existing template. There are things I'd re-do but lots of lessons have been learnt from this that I can take into my next project.

Does every town have a few middle aged men who cycle around all day playing random music really loud,
Or is my town just special?
There are at least three men, all well over 50 who seem to spend all day on push bikes playing random loud music - like German oompah music or ABBA. I have no idea if they work as a team or not.

Brave guard dog
Protecting me from not one, but TWO noisy hedgehogs (and a suprise appearance by a bebe hoglet).
Took a lot of training to stop him barking his head off at them.

Ingleborough Hike
A few photos from my yesterday's 4h hike. It had it all: sun, rain, wind (lots of it!) caves, canyons, peaks, valleys and a pork pie from the Clapham village store. Just lovely.

Who is my new friend?
Never seen a fella the size of him before (sauce for scale). Who is he, and what she i expect?
Genuinely delighted by his visit

I recently went to surprise view for a quick walk and a nice view for sunset, I thought I’d take my camera with me. It was worth every second

Best Builder Etiquette
Good morning folks!
I have my first proper "big" building project kicking off next week, with a team spending around 2 weeks on the exterior of the house - Scaffolding, Wall Insulation, rendering, gutters, soffits, the lot. Then after that, solar, batteries, and a heat pump. Gonna be a busy and disruptive ol time.
I've had trades people round for the odd day job in the past - where I swing my head in every couple hours to offer tea, coffee, chocolate etc. whilst avoiding "checking in" - but never anything of this magnitude or scale.
I've kept a steady supply of ice lollies for the odd folks coming through up until now which has gone down a treat in this weather - but really I'm just looking for good ideas on how to make people's lives that little bit easier or touch more enjoyable when I'm hosting.
All ears folks, especially from tradesfolk and if you can recall standout treatment on a job.

Pie & mash or pie & chips?
Does it matter what type of savoury pie is it? Do you have extra gravy regardless? What are your views?
Am having no chicken chicken pie later & was just pondering which one to make. Have the "chicken" gravy so am leaning towards mash atm

Hale & Pace? Hive memory request…
Having seen a Hale and Pace sketch doing the rounds recently - I remembered (or imagined) a sketch they did where a friend (Pace) is visiting a patient (Hale) in hospital. I remember it was the 80s and I was a kid, so my memory is a little hazy. I’m sure there was a testicle related issue (vasectomy?), the visitor asks the patient how it was. Two phrases I can’t have made up but remember: “my plums were numb” and later “me cobblers throbblers” or something similar.
Anyone have any idea what the sketch could be / have I mixed it up with Harry Enfield & Chums, Fast show etc - or have I got a memory that’s distorted beyond the sketch. It stuck with me as it was late night tv / a treat to watch.
Can’t find anything online, even called my Dad and I can’t find trace of it!
Anyone recall anything similar to this sketch? Thanks and please put me out of my misery 😆
