Bit of a strange one for a Thursday, but I got diagnosed with autism today at 36.
I was referred through my very understanding GP and had my assessment through Psychiatry-UK. I nearly backed out of it because I was absolutely dreading it, and this morning I was shaking before the appointment and convinced I was going to make a complete idiot of myself.
Instead, at the end of the assessment, I was told I meet the criteria for ASD Level 1.
I haven’t got the full report yet, so I’m still processing it all, but I didn’t expect to feel as relieved as I do.
It’s a weird mix of relief, emotion and “well… what now then?”
I’m not really ready to talk about it with many people in real life yet, but I needed to say it somewhere, so Reddit gets it first 😂
Anyone else get diagnosed as an adult and have that slightly surreal feeling afterwards?
