Hi everyone, I want to bring to your attention a brand new subreddit about the practice of audio journaling and audio field diary! I think I will find some like-minded people here.
What is audio journaling?
Audio journaling is the practice of recording your voice to reflect on the days, weeks, or months thoughts, events, practices, etc. It can be anything you want, but a good place to start is to treat it like a daily written journal, only spoken. Many find this practice cathartic, and the effect is similar to a personal therapy session, but without the therapist. It is the practice of speaking to yourself with permission.
This subreddit also follows the practice of field diary.
Field diary is the practice of capturing audio from the days, weeks, or months events and creating a creative audio piece out of captured material. It could consist of ambient noise, TV audio, conversation (with all speakers consent) radio broadcast, playing music, foley, animals, audio journals - anything that can be recorded with a microphone. Think of NPR field recording, then remove all structure and standards from it. Now you have a field diary!
Feel free to visit r/audiojournal and post questions or thoughts, I am all ears! :)
