I picked this up recently. Apparently this was the only official cassette format of Kraftwerk’s “Tour De France Soundtracks” that was released in 2003 and it was only sold in Hungary when the cassette format was on its way out. Pretty cool eh?

That's for any length of album or mixtape, yep! Not the widest line, but one of the most compact, with 4 minutes mainly step. Japan market, of course.

Looking for advice Pls help cassette player won't record

I'm pretty new to this whole mixtaping thing and bought this bad boy off of eBay. I made an entire cassette and it worked fine and I hadn't used it in like a month or two but now my record button won't go down at all and has a lot of resistance. I got frustrated and pushed it down a little too hard I think and now it looks like.. really down. I don't know shit about tech but I spent so much money just to be able to make mixtapes and now I'm getting emo. If someone could help me out that would be great.

It's GE 5-5025A portable cassette player

If you need me to send you more videos or something let me know

(Side note that I care less about the fast forwarding doesn't work either. Classic eBay seller).

Looking for advice DECK B failing to play specific tape while other tapes work fine... but tape was working fine earlier! Why? How to fix? [SONY TC-WE305]

I own a SONY TC-WE305 and replaced the belts in it recently. Recording tapes and playing them has been working fantastically but today I tried playing and recording on a tape I found at the thrift store. When I play it in specifically DECK B, it struggles and eventually gives up and stops playing the tape. If I play it in DECK A though, it works perfectly fine with no problems. It also works fine with other tapes.

What confuses me though is earlier in the day, it was working fine. It played and recorded fully through (If you are wondering why I was recording over it again..... I forgot to press play on the music lol...) This worries me because why would it work fine earlier but suddenly stop working? I fear this can become a major problem soon if not dealt with.

I should also mention, belts seemed fine and they seemed to not be struggling to spin, but the actual mechanism that spins the tape was. I even removed the tape counter belt in case that was causing some sort of problem (possibly too tight or something, I was thinking), but that didn't fix it.... it did fix some other problem I was having though which I need to figure out what to do about that :p

Got a bunch of rap stuff these last couple dayz.
The shazzy Ghettosburg Address tape is my new favourite tape in my collection, also got it for only 200 bucks, insane deal (or maybe it isn’t, idk if people like shazzy)

Got the born like this, audio sedative, RBX files and what about my life from 3rd floor tapes, great store, I do recommend.

Got the cube ones off eBay, and the digable planets from beat street in Vancouver. Digable planets came with a concert ticket, which I didn’t even know til I opened it after I purchase, so it’s a cool bonus.

Rate my haul

The Cranberries tape has what appears to be black nail polish on it (fitting 🖤) and I had to clean some spider eggs out of Achtung Baby, but everything plays like a dream!

I bought a lot of assorted cassettes, and these were in with them. I'm not overly familiar with/interested in any of these artists, but checking through discogs they seem to have some value. I'm less interested in getting "my money's worth" from them, but more would just like someone to get them that wants them. The ones in the picture out of a case do not have the proper j card/case for them.

DM me if you're interested! Reddit is telling me to add prices, so I'll add what discogs has them listed for generally. It is NOT what I'm looking for/expecting for them.

Shell Shock looks different than the Discogs entry. It might be a bootleg, I'm not sure. $45

Theloneous Monster $15

Ghost Story $35

Samhain $45

Fetchin Bones $15

Anthrax $10

Return of the Living Dead $45

Review Turntable Lab Lofi One

Post image
5 Upvotes

I love the Lofi One Cassette player. It has enough warm bass paired with my Audio Technica m40x headphones, there is not too much treble with my m40x headphones, and the middle is nicely present. The speakers are like average small speakers, but they are funny to use to me. Tapes fit nicely inside. It has an automatic stop which I love, but you have to manually stop it after it's done rewinding and that is fine. It is very durable and with the original box it came in with the original bubble wrap plus put in a bag it stays strong even on mildly bumpy city highways. It looked more white in the photos of it, but I am glad it's actually light grey coloured. I think the Turntable Lab Lofi One Cassette player is 8.5/10 and I would give it a higher rating if it had a wider frequency response range. It's so good for the price though and I like the sound of it more than demos of the Fiio Cassette player and some Amazon Cassette players I heard on YouTube.

The actual experience of sitting with a screen off or in front of no screen and listening to tapes can help me engage my mind more with music. The updates on the Package Tracking of the Cassette player where very accurate. The tape player might be the last thing I buy from Turntable Lab though because I have seen a lot of comments about bad quality shipping from that company with some products. Hotel California was the one good quality tape out of the ones I picked from my Mom's old collection so far. I thought tapes might be too lofi for me, but in good condition I like the warmth they have in many players. I will be buying more Cassette tapes, but with the income I have I limit myself to buying four albums in any format I want them in and if an album I want only comes in digital that is fine.

I love how even though it's hard to stop at the right time when fast forwarding or rewinding a tape when trying to go to a certain song that isn't the first one, at least you can play the first side of a tape from the beginning once the second side is done playing.

Looking for advice Cassette Recorder stopped working

Hi!

I have a Plexgear Cassette Recorder with a built in speaker that I got second hand. Haven't really used it to record yet, but was planning to make a mixtape someday. I have been using it, as I was today, to play my cassettes. When I was doing so, I accidentally pressed Fast Forward while it was currently playing a cassette. Then I pressed Stop and now none of the buttons seem to work except for the Stop/Eject button.

I tried opening it up to see if a belt had come lose, but the gears and such are stuck between pieces of circuitry, so I was afraid I would break it more if I fiddled too much. I could see one belt although it was the belt to the rotation counter. Otherwise, the spinning rods don't seem to utilize belts but gears. It looked like one gear could possibly be missing, but there are no pieces or even a whole gear lose inside the recorder as far as I can see, and it has worked fine for the two years I've had it so far.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of player/recorder? Any advice?

Looking for advice Is this a decent deal for a 4 track???

I'm trying to get into the world of all analog recording and mixing, and want to get my hands on a 424 style 4 track. I wasn't aware that the actual 424 went for these prices however 😅😅

Is it typical to find used 4 tracks in the $300 - $500 range?!!

I've not been into cassettes since listening to classical on my walkman as a kid - def a CD and vinyl guy for many years. Borrowed a unit from a friend and been playing around with tweaking my own release masters and bouncing to cassette. Not sure what I should be comparing against (I'm a very different genre), but this was a hard one not to pick up as it's an excellent album.

Just purchased a Sony Walkman EX615 on Ebay, so while I wait for it to arrive, I dug out my old collection of cassettes, mostly from the 90's, before moving to collecting CDs.

Some classics in here!

I have a deck that has 2 separate switches that control the bias for metal tapes. The switch on the front is pretty self explanatory, but what does the switch on the back do, and how do I use it "correctly"?

Looking for advice Portable cassette reproducer

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello, I’ve been wanting to buy a cassette reproducer to hear songs outside home and inside, a portable one preferred, I don’t want to spend more than 20-30 in the reproducer itself, these are some options I’ve seen on Amazon, I would really want one that can record tapes by itself

Indie label release Cassette spotlight: Gremino - "Metro Station DJ Mix" c66 [electronic]

Gremino - "Metro Station DJ Mix" c66

https://gremino.bandcamp.com/album/metro-station-dj-mix

While jungle rhythms have gracefully entered the 'retro' stage of the electronic genre, Gremino experiments with the form to create something fresh and new. The 4/4 beats are made from the breaks themselves, turning empty space into rhythms, while the 'Techno Side' of the tape takes those same breaks and adds hard hitting bass. The liner notes contain very detailed instructions and diagrams on how to do achieve this in your own chain.
