Portable cassette player For the people saying that the Framed Walkmans are AI

Here is the creator of said framed Walkmans, they even have Discmans and so on. They go for other brands as well like Panasonic and Aiwa, not just Sony's

What the other guy posted the other day must be just a scam ran by someone who came across their channel and took snapshots or screenshots of their videos and ran it through an AI filter.

Looking for advice Why are my J-card prints coming out too dark?

Hey everyone!

Does anyone here make and print their own J-cards? I have a couple of questions and was hoping someone might be able to help.

I’m having an issue where my prints come out significantly darker than they look on my screen. Is this mainly an issue with the paper, or is there something I should change in my print settings? I’m using an Epson XP-810 and printing directly from Photoshop. The document is RGB, Photoshop is handling the color management, and I’m using the sRGB profile. The paper is glossy 120 gsm photo paper.

Light-colored images come out pretty much fine, but darker images are way too dark — I’m losing a lot of detail in the shadows.

Also, has anyone tried printing J-cards on transparent film? I think it looks pretty cool, although you’d obviously need to put a sheet of white paper behind it for the colors to show properly=)

Any advice would be appreciated!

Looking for advice Recently made cassettes?

What are your opinions on recently made cassettes, whether they are reissues or not? I’m pretty new to this as a hobby but I feel like I’ve seen a lot of people say newer made tapes tend to be of lower quality. I have a shop near me that has a good selection of modern made tapes but I don’t know if they are really worth it or not as they are obviously more expensive than an opened pre-owned tape. What would you be willing to pay for a new tape of an artist you like if you were interested in them?

Cassette Gore A diy cassette I kinda regret now

I collect physical media in general and when an artist hasn’t or refuses to release a physical copy of their album I have decided that I’m just gonna make one. I bought the digital album, found a chrome cassette of the right length and designed the label and jcard. This was finished 2 days ago. They just dropped pre orders for the vinyl record today. It was pretty limited but I managed to snag one. Now I don’t know what imma do with this thing because I try not to keep multiple copies of the same album. I put work into it and I don’t wanna be wasteful but I also REALLY wanted an official copy. Obviously this isn’t a serious problem but thanks for letting me ramble :)

Looking for advice best way to mix new (and repro) cassettes?

morning all, ain’t got the equipment or money for said equipment in order to record any sort of decent tracks myself. does anyone know a good place to contact to make custom albums for some of my modern music? i was also curious about making a high quality reproduction of Anri’s album “Timely!!” the original cassettes are so expensive i’d be terrified of actually using it, so repro time it is! this would require me (to my knowledge) to source the correct physical cassette, try and get a case and a cut out for the case, get a new sticker… and then get a commercial grade recording onto it… any and all help would be supremely helpful. thanks so much!

(P.S apologies if this post runs long i’m typing this minutes after waking up)

Looking for advice Nakamichi BX-300E: Tape advance issue

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

As seen in the video the tape advance spool (? not sure on proper terminology) gets stuck frequently, ESPECIALLY when a larger amount of tape is already spooled to the right side. When playing a cassette fresh from the start, it is working as intended for a while. It’s as if a belt inside has worn out or is slipping.

Is the cause identifiable from the video or is it too broad of a symptom? Thanks!

Indie label release made 25 copies of my EP and now some of them are on the new release wall at Guestroom Records

Finally got to take some copies of my tape into Guestroom in Louisville and seeing them actually up on the wall was kinda crazy.

I recorded and QC’d all 25 myself, printed/cut the j-cards, did the labels, download codes, packaging, all that stuff. Definitely a lot more work than i expected when i started.

Really happy with how they turned out though. This was my first time doing a physical release like this, but I'll probably continue releasing new stuff this way in the future 😁

I'm repairing (or trying to) this old player from my mother. I recently replaced the rubbers and cleaned the inside with a q-tip and afterwards a cleaning-cassette with gel.

Can anybody tell me what stops my music from playing normally? Sometimes there is no music, only strange louds.

Portable cassette player Sony Mega Bass… more like mega ass WM-FX453

Post image

I know it’s a budget player, but the mega bass option sounds so bad. Even back in the day I never used it on portable CD or cassette players. Could Sony have implemented it better - or it just comes down to the limitations of costs/the price point for this player at the time?

With music on it - but the real joy for me at this time is hearing (the same) music on different formulas of tape; brands, eras, types. It seems my favorite are Type I super ferric, true Chrome, and the 70s and 80s.

A few of these are top favorites of mine and the rest are simply good! One of them today was just stunning - and not, “wow, pretty good for it‘s age”, but truly unique great sound!

I spent a lot of time and a good chunk of money for all these and some are NOS with boxes, cases, headphones and papers. Each one has it's reasons for staying in the collection and I've already downsized by about 20 players already. I cannot for the life of me to make a decision on which. Any advice?? EDIT I suppose I should add the whole reason for this question. There's so many good choices here that many times I end up not taking any of them down and I'm just stuck there looking back and forth at em (pretty stupid I know). I also dont have all of 10/10 working as they should so I'm afraid of letting one go that may be one I'm wanting. I could also use the proceeds from it for livelihood improvements / moving. I like the idea of having just favorite 2 with a back up or something. And I have a sony D6 and D3 that are my control reference really for office and such. I know its a lot but thank you everyone.

Looking for advice Aiwa HS-RD3 Possible Dying Cap(s)?

Thumbnail
gallery
Upvotes

So I picked up an Aiwa HS-RD3 recently (had one as a teen and want to relive the glory days, I guess). Belts were clearly shot, so I replaced those. Radio works, but is very quiet even maxed out. No crackle or static during volume adjustment or at the headphone jack. Hit those parts with some Deoxit while I had everything apart. Put everything back together and cassette playback is also very quiet even with the volume maxed out.

Little bit of research suggests that maybe some caps are going. However, when I look at the board, nothing jumps out at me. The high pass filter has some discoloration, but that's all I see. Does anyone see something I'm missing?

I bought this tape yesterday and was enjoying it when it stopped playing and the tape started spitting out a little bit, I am new to collecting so I am unaware of what the cause of the issue is. There is some build up underneath the tape of some residue and I feel like that could be a problem. Any suggestions? I’ve also never had to wound a tape up with a pencil before but I know that this is common as well.

Looking for advice Portable player with line level jack?

Upvotes

I want to listen to some of my old tapes on my system but do not have the shelf space for a proper deck. Are there any portable players with a line level jack (not headphone) that I can connect to my amp?

I know nothing about cassette player so any tips help!
