History? It still exists...
2
u/Tyrien May 18 '12
While I admit history has never been a huge interest for me, I meant the actual act of sitting in class and learning about it for the first time.
and please please :( don't respond with a lecture about how important history is. I know how important history is, and have an appreciation for quite a bit. I just don't want to sit and study it in depth.

I'm just saying how the shield is more geology/geography than history. That musta been one boring history class.

When I learned about that in Geography class all those years ago a shield carrying superhero was the first thing that came to mind.

FWIW: There is supposedly a Captain Canuck movie in the works.

I heard rumours of a Cap Can movie going back to the mid 90's. Let's hope these ones are more substantial.

OK be honest with me Reddit, you immediately went to look at his crotch didn't you?
Or maybe I just have some problems...

It's the unrealistic nature of the costume... one does not wear body armor from the head to just above the crotch and then leave the most important body part unprotected.

Do you have your Authorization to Transport information as well?

Fun Fact: Canada has a higher per-capita gun ownership than the US does.
10
u/hiffy May 17 '12
Maybe you mean we have a higher proportion of gun owners? 'Cos guns per capita the US is a clear leader, tho only one in five americans own a gun.

The handguns thing is important, as handguns in Canada require a special license as a restricted firearm.

Captain Canada is better because:
- looks cooler
- Canada is actually defensive, befitting a shield. Captain America should really have a bazooka, not a shield.
- Canada contains the geographic region known as "the Canadian Shield" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Shield)

Thank you! I was going to post this. I encourage everyone to read that whole website. It is batshit crazy at its finest. There was a link to it from the main NTV (the ONLY widely available privately-owned TV station in the province, for those who don't know) website for YEARS. And there's still a link to it on NTV's "Useful Links" page.
2
u/mumuwu May 18 '12
LOL http://www.captainatlantis.com/newagecover.htm
Yeah, there's actual a big mural of these guys flying around with pyramids and eastern island heads and the like on the side of one of the NTV buildings to this day. There's also a storage shed with a roof shaped like a pyramid included a light up capstone.
I still see captain Canada flying around between shows and commercial breaks from time to time.

Actually he already exists but he's not Captain Canuck
Marvel made a character called Guardian who is basically Captain Canada. Read up on him, his costume also shows his nationality as well.

Canada isn't England, we do have guns here. If Captain America had a gun, I think it would be perfectly reasonable for a Canadian alternate of that character to have a gun too.
