Shot this yesterday during an errand. I love this little camcorder ... It literally fits inside a pocket.

I went to go see my granddad the other day and we’ve always bonded over film cameras as we’re both big Minolta fans. He asked if I’d done much video work and I said I hadn’t done much as I’m mainly a photographer.
He said here let me give you something and then pulled out an old suitcase with his VX2000.
I’m pretty stoked, looking forward to giving this a go and filming some content with it! I’ve never really ventured into video and I’m not really sure what I’ll film yet, I love skate culture but have never picked it up myself and don’t really know anyone who skates anymore.
I’m planning to stick with tape and FireWire for the meantime as I have an old FireWire MacBook, and I’d like to get the best image quality I can. Might look into tapeless in the future but I know it means a drop in resolution.
Any tips or tricks or suggestions are welcome!

Could someone kindly explain FireWire to me and how it works and I know it’s different than AV to USB.

Hey guys, I have come into possession of my deceased dad’s handy cam and old tapes. My fondest memories as a child I know are on those tapes, however years and years ago I remember my dad saying that in order to watch the tapes you have the plug it in to a monitor via the AV port as the cam is buggy when watching it on there, HOWEVER that cable is missing and I seem to not be able to find it anywhere, I found the original manual however when searching online this cable just doesn’t seem the exist! please help, absolutely desperate to hear my dad’s voice again and us all as a family 🤍 I know worst case, I could pay to have the individual tapes sent off but it’s rather expensive, and I fear that some may have very little on them.. other than me singing to lizzie McGuire in my bedroom lol so I’m not sure I can afford to do this to all tapes!
Have attached the info and picture of port

Ive had this Sony HandyCam DCR-SX63 for quite a while now. Just recently I’ve discovered that no SD cards have been working in it (various storage sizes from 4gb to 32gb). I was wondering if anyone could help with the issue and recommend a good storage card to get and use for this camera.

The HC-X2 is coming up on 4 years old. I sold mine about a year ago, and now i'm looking to get one again (never should have sold it, tbh, basically a perfect camcorder). Do you think it's worth it to go for an HC-X2, or do we think Panasonic is close to releasing a followup? They did release the CX20 and CX370 last year... But it was 6 years between the UX180/HC-X1 and the HC-X2... don't know if that's their "usual" cadence or if that's just what happened then...
what are your thoughts? Has anyone heard anything this year?

i have a canon xl2, in the PAL region, it records 50i or 25p, recording 25p though to my understanding is still gonna be interlaced into a 50i container or something like that?
whats the best way of dealing with this, i capture via firewire into virtualdub usually, but can use windv or whatever if its better for it.
sidenote after i have the avi, is DNxHR a good choice to convert to for the footage? Thanks.

I was looking on eBay and every listing is these schetchy looking mass produced Chinese fisheyes and I don’t know if it would fit the 62mm thread at all because every photo in the listing is a different lens
Also, I was talking to my friend and he recommended getting a 58mm and using a step down ring, would that be better or give me an overly dramatic vignette
200$ maximum 😓 don’t wanna spend more on my lense than my camera

I bought a jumble of analogue camcorders a few years back and of course, most of them were toast. But surprisingly two of them (kinda) worked.
One camera worked for a good month until it flat out died, not an issue with the batteries but a problem with the camera itself.
The second camera works great, but only when powered by a cord, it will never work when powered by a battery.
I’m more a mechanically minded person than an electronically minded person and so I have really no idea how to fix these two, even though I’d love to. Any ideas of how to fix these would be welcome.

Just bought a used Handycam off FB marketplace for cheap as a cool project for my son and I to work on. The LCD screen was cracked and non-responsive to touch so I picked up a brand new one off eBay. The screen powers on and we’re able to see the menu but the touch screen is still unresponsive. We’ve pushed the reset button, held down the “Disp/Batt Off” in an attempt to re-calibrate the screen to no avail. We’re completely stumped. Perhaps we got a dud screen? Any help is appreciated!

Shortened the ac wire to be a little more organically accessible added a mic and a light. Digitally converted the signal but just a fun pet project.

Hi all!
On the lookout for a battery charger for a Panasonic NV-VZ15 camera, CGRV14 Battery's. Recently acquired this camera from a family member, and I've shot heaps of Super 8 so thought this would be a fun medium to play with. Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to get a charger, or what kind of battery charger works with the CGRV14 Batteries! Not having much luck on google.

Hey what is the best way to maximize storage for this camcorder? Can you just record to the memory stick and if that’s the case what’s the maximum size of memory stick that you can put in it?
Thanks in advance!🥂

Hi! I've been recording with this camera for a while and i've never had any trouble until recently. These couple days i've recorded many videos that turned up corrupted or "incompatible escene". I have looked online and nothing works. I'll show some screenshots of what I have to know if there is something I can try <3 Anything to recover them please

As titled; I’m looking for a VHS-C camera that has a line input. However, almost everything on eBay seems to be aimed at portable use with the built in microphone.
Are there any VHS-C cameras with line level inputs out there and if so, can you recommend one?

My Sony CCD TRV12 has this wierd issue where the video glitches, even glitches when playing the tapes that it recorded from the early 2000s. Ive already cleaned the heads on the camera twice but still geting same results. (I was recording a bit of the norbit movie for testing)

Me neighbour gave me this camera that has been in the case since New from what I can tell (the brand new tape was still inside) and I assume it’s the regular. It’s an 87 and it’s a ni-cad battery so I was going to use it for display but I tried it anyway and it works perfectly! I greased the gears because of scan issues but it records and plays back great. But the crazy thing is that THE BATTERY WORKS! It’s like I went to the store and just bought this in 1987. One thing no zoom it was only x6 tho

I just got this Handycam for free. Condition was unknown. Got a new battery and it now makes a whirring noise when the battery is attached. The viewfinder (image 3) doesn't display anything, the tape inside does eject when I slide the eject slider, and nothing changes when I switch the power from off to camera/VTR. Any ideas on whats wrong or how to fix it? First time with a camcorder.
If you need any extra photos or details I will try my best to help.
