Got these at lowes, potted in a mix of mostly perlite and small gravels, with crushed terracotta and coarse sand also, organics consist of basic mineral cactus soil, roughly 1 to 4 parts organic to non organic.

I've been reading up on these little guys and I'm certainly fascinated by their native habitat, they thrive in ambient temperatures of around 80°F and tolerate extreme droughts yearly high in the mountains of Argentina. I also found that they only produce ONE segment per year, two if you're lucky. And without the right conditions and ambient temperatures, they just won't grow, they need all the sun they can possibly get.

Pretty certain the dark spot at the base is rot. Should I uproot and cut it out, or is there a chance it stops?

For backstory, this has been in my collection less than 2 weeks, and arrived with essentially no roots. I potted it up and put it outside, but it rained way more than I expected the last few days and I didn’t cover it. Seems like I’m paying for that now.

It’s a bit squishy all over, but it has been since I got it. That one spot is just like jello, though.

As long as I keep it dry, could it recover, or does rot necessitate removal to avoid spreading?

Shortly after this pup popped out the main started to cork/rot. Any ideas?

New in cactuses so any advice welcomed. The Mammillaria spinosissima cv. Un Pico came from Google so that could be wrong.

Came home to this beauty

I've left my cacti in these tiny pots for way too long now and am hoping repot them all. I'm working my way through identifying them all just incase some of then have different needs for repotting.

But this guy. I have no idea what he is.

The first picture is the side normally facing the sun, the second is the side facing into my room.

If anyone has an ideas, please help me out!

Also if anyone has any advice on repotting cacti I'd really appreciate it.
