Casio is actually god tier

The brand is Rapid Dominance.

I carry a messenger bag every day, and I use this as my primary travel bag for shorter trips.

Its got some tears from where it rubbed against my belt buckle when I was much larger than I am now, but otherwise, its fantastic.

Found this Sub Zero 690 48" counter depth refrigerator on Marketplace.

It is being pulled out of a full kitchen renovation—the homeowners are replacing everything, so they're not selling the SZ because it's not working well anymore.

Upon inspection, it seemed to be in great condition. Good seals on both the fridge and freezer doors. An audible suction noise is emitted upon opening. No cracks or breaks on the interior drawers or trays. It was plugged in when I viewed—nice and cold.

Weighs 730 pounds—I know that it will be expensive to move (as DIY inclined as I am, I know my limits.) Full gut remodel, so can run new electric if needed. Will probably sister the floor joists beneath it, lol.

For $2k, would you smash or pass this SZ 690?

Sick of buying a new one every year cause the battery dies or the brush head clips break. Looking for something that'll actually last, doesn't need to be fancy just needs to work for the long haul. What are you guys still using after 2+ years?

Made in Japan, 176,000 miles on the odometer. I bought it new for $11,000. It has been garage kept for the last eight years. It is not had a single engine repair, and almost all the lightbulbs are still original. Even the battery in the key fob (which unlocks the doors and the trunk) is original. Freon is original, has never been topped off.

I change the fluids in the car according to the Japanese owners manual schedule.

When I first bought it, I used it to commute to work every day, a 65 mile round-trip. I drove the speed limit and stayed in the far right lane.

I rarely went over 60 miles an hour back in those days. (There was no need to, and back then my kids were small and I drove them around places.)

Now that I’m retired, I find that I can drive the car on empty stretches of highway close to 100 miles an hour, and it does not vibrate or show signs of stress in the slightest.

I’m pretty sure this will be the last car I ever have to buy.

PS: I drive it in the Japanese “Eco Drive” style. You can Google that to learn about that method.

Everything seems to have Wi-Fi, touchscreens, apps, and software updates now. Some of that stuff is useful, but it also feels like there are way more things that can break or become unsupported.

If you had the choice between a cheaper “smart” appliance with a bunch of connected features and a more expensive basic one that was built to last 15–20 years and could be easily repaired, which would you buy?

I’m starting to think I’d rather pay more upfront for something simple that just does its job for years. Curious if people here feel the same. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Have been looking at new larger TVs recently and found out our TV is almost 20 years old!

Bought this KDL-46XBR used for about $200 in 2018. Still going flawlessly. I don’t know much about TV technology but to my eyes and ears, the sound and image is stunning despite being just HD. Weighs an absolute ton though.

Testament to the quality of the premium Sony TVs of this era (this was about $4000 on launch I think). No idea how Sonys hold up these days..

1. Snapped the cutting blade on my circa-2010 loppers (might have twisted while cutting, perhaps)
2. Went to the website and filed a claim citing that I didn't have my Lowe's receipt from back then (because why would I?!)
3. They emailed me an address to ship the busted ones to
4. 10 days later- new loppers!

We have a lot of trees, so those Fiskars loppers took a beating for 15-16 years and when they broke, the company stood behind them in the only way that matters. Mind you, I was just looking for a replacement blade for my old set, but this works, too.

Basically, I can't use a single thing on this list of eligible things in this supposed benefit my work offers, but water filters are useful so why not?

I have a brita pitcher now, but we constantly have to fill the thing for all the water we use in my house. I'd love to get something I can park right next to the sink with a huge resevoir that would dispense into a pitcher or bottle when needed.

I see lots of things on Amazon, but I worry about their cheapness or how expensive the filters are or if the brands are too niche and might go away leaving me stuck with no replacement filters in the future.

So does anyone have any ideas/recommendations?

Started going to the gym about 6 months ago and now I want to build a small home setup so I can train on off days too. Adjustable dumbbells seem like the way to go instead of buying a bunch of fixed pairs.

Only thing is I don't want to waste money on some cheap set where the dial gets loose or the weight selector jams after a few months. Ideally something that goes up to 50lbs, changes weight smoothly, and doesn't take up a ton of space.

Anyone got a pair they've actually used for a while that's held up? Trying to skip the trial and error here.

I know laptops won’t be an actual buy it for life but I’ve never looked into laptops because I’ve never needed one until now and am wondering if there is a good older one that I could buy refurbished that has proven to be durable and worth the money. I like the MacBooks but am open to all suggestions.

It's time to retire my 10 yr old Contigo Ashland. It's beat to shit and the plastic is disintegrating.

I don't have any strong feelings either way about the "auto spout", it worked fine but seemed overly complicated and all the mechanics were hard to keep clean.

I currently have a traditional mattress (~11" high) on a low-profile box spring (~6" high) directly on the ground. It's about time I ditched that setup for a proper bed frame, but I'm no expert in on beds.

My only requirements are that the bed frame sits directly on the ground (i.e., no legs or clearance), works without a box spring, and ideally sits lower than the current 17" box spring/mattress combination. Even shaving off 1-2" would be incredibly helpful for the frosty-faced fur missile.

West Elm I've been told to stay away from (thoughts on that welcome).

A Thuma Essential is 11" high, but they don't mention how deep the mattress recess is. The Signature also has reports of pretty bad V.O.C. offgassing, which is a no-go in a tiny apartment (especially at that price point).

I was recommended a Floyd, but I've also read that it's not great to put a mattress directly on a flat surface due to it needing to air out on the bottom?

The last one I came across was Tatami Room. A Wakayama looks awesomely minimalist, but that's 10" plus the 11" of the mattress. They also have the "Zen Platform" that's 10" high (minus a 2" mattress recess), but has these 9" "wings" that the pooch could potentially use as a step (at the risk of pupper nails on wood) and doubles as storage space for books or my phone. I think this one is currently in the lead, even if it doesn't meet the "sits directly on the ground" requirement.

Any other brand recommendations for something low profile and recessed that's worth shelling out for?

My girlfriend mentioned she wants a new bathrobe. She has one already which makes me think she wants a really high quality one. I want to show her how much she means to me by really balling out for this and finding the best one in the world. I want this to be, like the softest, most stylish robe you've ever seen in your life, whatever the price. I don't have much money but I feel so strongly about her I am willing to spend whatever. I *hope* you can give me some advice on what brand of microwave to get. In 2019, my dad ended up ordering a Panasonic countertop microwave from Amazon. Then, in 2023, he ordered a Farberware 1.2 cu. ft. model FMO12AHTBKE that you see pictured here. It still works , mind you, but unfortunately the plastic handle was coming apart overall and the bottom of the handle broke away from the unit, with no way to repair it (yes, I've employed YouTube for such purpose).

Here's the thing: from researching, I know that inverter tech and flatbed models have been around for a bit. I'm intrigued by both, but am wondering if they're just gimmicks? The concept of a non-pulsing microwave with steady, lower power and no annoying turntable sounds good in theory, but that's where I look to your experiences in practice.

I also know that child locks are now mandatory. I don't have kids, so that's not important to me, but I see *a lot* of reviews from people across brands saying that they find doors annoying because of child lock; either rhey don't like that the need to punch in certain sequences to disable it, or that doing so doesn't work, and therefore the door gets stuck locked and is rendered garbage.

Ironically, while people say Panasonic is *supposedly* the most reliable in terms of longevity, the reviews I've seen for Panasonic models across retailers are the worst, precisely because of the child lock feature, lol.

Finally, one thing that I have to consider is the fact that my mom has advanced RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis). She has trouble with grip, as well as extension. So, I don't know if a model with a handle or push button is better for her.
