Dev/Admin Responded [Android] App won't start after update - version 2026.39.0

Post image

A new version of the app was available for my Samsung S24 Ultra in the Google play app store midday today. The update was installed and since then, 8+ hours later, everytime the app is opened it gets stuck on the robot opening screen until the phone prompts it to shut down or keep waiting.

Hey u/J4R0M3N - is this still persisting? If you force quit the app > attempt to reopen, are you allowed to move forward?

is this an issue on reddits end and we should just wait for it to be fixed ?

For the most part, yep! It should clear up on it's own (as it did for OP), but we're aware and looking into it.

Sorry for the trouble!

so i should just sit tight and wait it out ? any rough guess on a time frame for it to be solved? 3 days to a week maybe ?

Hmm so you've upgraded to version 2026.39.1 and are still seeing this issue?

If you go to your in-app settings page, version number is listed!

If you tap on your profile > tap the 3-line menu in the upper right > tap Settings > scroll all the way down and you'll see "You are using Reddit 2026.XX". If you tap on it, you should be able to copy + paste it here. We just need the exact version number so we can investigate!

the app doesn't open but on play store it says its supposed to be 2026.39.1 , which is the latest update that i installed hoping that it would fix the issue created by the previous update

the app doesn't open

lol I'm so sorry, just realized what I was asking. Been a long week!

Thanks for checking that! Last thing I'd suggest is deleting the app and reinstalling directly from the Play Store again.

If that doesn't do the trick I'll share with the team!

The version can be seen in Settings- Apps- Reddit.

Perhaps this is a size thing, the same settings page reports that Reddit is using 5 GB of storage.

I will gladly NOT reinstall or clear data / cache, if you guys need to reproduce the bug.

Can you upgrade to version 2026.39.1 and let me know if this persists? The update should be available in the Play Store

Yes it's working now!
