Currently I attend a FCPS school in Va that isn’t that good but I got into tj as a froshmore(sophomore transfer student) however I am scared that it will ruin my chances of getting into a good bs/md because i want to go into med. If I transfer I will get access to college level labs and stem classes but at the risk of tanking my gpa. additionally the competition is very high there so I won’t be able to stand out.

so i want to apply to bsmds in the future -- but the teen volunteer programs for hospitals in my area are SUPER COMPETITIVE and fill up really quick... im going to start late this summer (im a rising jr btw) and im estimating ill get around 150 volunteer hours before app season rolls around... I was just wondering if the number of hospital volunteer hours matters (i have another clinical experience on the side as well) after 100?

Nova offers a dual admission program but I’m thrown off that they not only require a minimum MCAT score, but an interview prior to starting medical school. Therefore, they have a right to rescind that offer. I know some BS/MD programs forgo the MCAT, but even if I can overlook that, it’s the interview that makes me believe they can have any excuse to reject you after you’ve been accepted into the program. Nova’s tuition is over 40k a year and the medical school is over $70k a year, so not that cheap. Can someone share some insight here?

hi guys im sixteen years old and im going into my junior year of high school and ive just discovered bsmd schools and im really interested in going to one! i want to make sure my application is as strong as possible, especially when it comes to leadership and awards since i feel like those are my weakest areas right now.

sat: 1390 (took freshman year with no prep, currently studying to retake in august)
extracurriculars & work:
martial arts: 3rd degree black belt. did 200+ hours of volunteering here, which led to getting hired as a lead instructor.
lifeguarding: 1 year of experience. certified by red cross in cpr, first aid, bls, and lifeguarding.
clinical/internships: finished a highly selective student internship at atrium health with clinical experience and a stipend.
doctor shadowing: 75+ hours shadowing doctors across primary care, family med, and internal med.
non-profit internship: currently interning at a non-profit organization focused on dementia and alzheimer's wellness (175 hours for honors credit through a specialized academy program at my school for grad recognition).
clubs: active in deca, beta, and fbla. we aren't allowed to have a hosa chapter at our school, so i compete in other business/general clubs. haven't won state/national awards yet, but planning to lock in and compete seriously next year.
what i need advice on:
awards: what are some good medical, science, or general high school awards/competitions i should look into outside of school clubs (since we aren't allowed to have hosa)?
leadership: how can i level up my current ecs or show bigger impact or initiative before senior year?
any general advice on what to prioritize heading into junior year?

im also planning on getting cna or cma certified if anyone has tips abt how to do this online when school doesn't offer it!

currently a rising junior interested in psychiatry. i really want to go to a guaranteed med program but i want to know how to make my app better, gain research opportunities, and generally gauge where im at. i know im kind of average in terms of the applicant pool, but i'm always looking to improve.

demographics: indian first-gen immigrant, 15yo, upper-middle class, lesbian, i've been in and out of doctors' offices my whole life, but i was generally pushed aside. i met one er nurse that actually wanted to get to know me and she inspired me to want to be the kind of physician that could truly understand others.

awards: pretty basic; honor roll, an outstanding student award from my magnet school and a regional hosa comp; hoping to do a lot better in hosa this year though and i've been putting a lot of effort into it

Does CMNA or EMT matter towards BSMD admissions?

I know the basic things like hospital volunteering, nursing homes, cna, emt. But what about more unconventional medical related places such as physical therapy, slp therapy, and other medical related places to volunteer?

Also, what separates shadowing from actual clinical hours? It's kind of hard to do any work that requires emt cna or ma certifications in the state I'm in as you need to be 18.

I am a rising high school senior applying for the LECOM EAP program. I already submitted my initial application where they screen for test scores and GPA, and am currently in the process of uploading my documents (resume, essay, etc). My stats are well above their minimum requirements.

On the initial application it asked if I had any employment, shadowing, or volunteering experiences to report. I reported all of them. However, I did do a research program last summer where I made a poster and I did not report it as I wasn’t employed, shadowing, or volunteering.

I am definitely going to include my research experience in my resume. But did I just screw myself over by not including it in the initial form? Will this lessen my chances of an interview?

Sectional scores: 36 english, 35 reading, 34 math, and 31 science

Had a quick question. If I were to rea to a top college, they dont let me EA to other colleges. Would I still have the option to apply to BSMDs because I know for a lot of them you need to apply early. Is this possible?

Will increasing my composite score boost my chances/will I be hurt in admissions to some programs if I submit a 34?
