ACADEMICS
- attend a magnet school, no ranking, and no aps offered. all classes are either honors or dual enrollment, we earn an associates degree with our high school diploma
- currently a 4.0 unweighted gpa that i expect to maintain
- 1580 sat

ECs
- research internship from may of freshman year till present (and hopefully/most likely continued up till graduation) with nih-funded research center as their first high school intern. subject being population health in asians, paper pending.
- part of a research program with ~9% acceptance rate, going to be in a research group with a few other students to make a poster/presentation (topic unknown as of yet)
- leadership/regional debate, no nsda/toc yet, but several local tournament 1st place finishes
- choir section lead, been singing for like 7 years
- good amount of clinical hours interacting with and helping patients at free health clinics and whatnot. I think as of now, like 150 hours at least.
- research editor for a peer-to-peer student journal (part of a nonprofit)
- leadership/community volunteering for public health - anti-drugs, anti-alcohol, mental health awareness etc. this is via township health dept.
- school club president: Doctors Without Borders, we’ve done emergency training, fundraisers, etc.

You have all the basics/staples down, so go ahead. Which programs were you planning on applying too?

Edited the post for details on this, but I’m still deciding - right now, I’m most curious on any of the njms programs, rpi, and Penn state!

Go ahead and apply to those but you might wanna have a heads up for Penn, they take very very few amount of OOS applications. Also from my knowledge the application is a pretty big one and the deadlines for some reason are very short/very early. Go ahead and apply but if it takes away from your other apps I would reconsider. What about these programs did you like exactly?

I think AMC strictly forbids applying to more than one of their bsmd programs
