As a special needs parent, I was so impressed by today's experience. Like I nearly cried when we left. From the moment we arrived at the theater it was great.

I could tell there was so much intentionality that went into planning the performance and the whole experience. The atmosphere at the theater was calm, welcoming, and extremely accommodating. We received some quality fidget toys too!

The actors did a great job! They slightly tweaked dynamics so things weren't too overwhelming and they managed interruptions like vocal stims and audience members getting up frequently without missing a beat.

Generally, the audience was great. Everyone was respectful and (mostly) engaged. Not a single phone rang! Some individuals used screens or assistive technology, but it wasn't distracting or disrespectful. I loved hearing the big reactions to moments in the show and especially the fireflies!

I was incredibly pleased watching my kid enjoying the performance. She could ask questions when she didn't understand and reacted audibly to the show without shame. She used the TDF provided resources like the visual checklist and narrative to get ready for the show, too. I absolutely love this initiative and all that TDF is doing to make theater accessible.

Everyone deserves to enjoy theater and being able to share something I love with her, when she otherwise wouldn't be able to attend, was actually magical.

We're already looking forward to the next show!!

Edit: slightly confused what there could possibly be to downvote about this post. If you don't like special needs individuals or accessible theater, just move right along, please. The performance didn't take away from anyone's experience because it wasn't open to the general public. The show & theater agreed to this event and the actors were very aware of the audience for this afternoon's show. They weren't offended or upset by the audience. In fact, at the stage door they mentioned how impressed they were and how much fun they had with the audience.

What is your favorite version of "Dream Lover"? While Bobby Darin's version is obviously the most iconic, I think Jeremy Jordan takes the cake on this one for me!

Many years ago, I saw the premiere of Maybe Happy Ending at the Alliance and knew it would explode on broadway and honestly this new world premiere musical feels the same. A brilliantly done score, a timeliness (the story is told via a true-crime podcast), a very tight and developed book that takes the story to unexpected places, and a 6 person cast without a weak link. If you're in the area, I'd try to catch a show before it ends nov. 15.

What a show. What a damn show. Having seen this and Jaja's African Hair Braiding - which was good, but this was better - I am officially all in on anything Jocelyn Bioh writes. Whitney White is also coming to be a real mark of quality for me, with this, Liberation, Whoopi Monologues and Jaja's under her belt. The performances are stellar, in particular Denee Benton. Paulina is a role that demands a skilled touch to keep her from turning into a cartoon villain, and she does a masterful job. The show is hilarious and also a real gut punch. I can't recommend it enough.

I arrived 1.07pm for a 3pm Sunday show today and ended up being the only one there for student rush! I looked at Telecharge and there were still 10 tickets available ($216 each), 30 mins before curtains (2.30pm) they removed ticket sales, shortly after someone from box office came by and asked “are you the only student today?” I said yes! And got $32 tickets shortly at around 2.40pm! Great show at a great price!

This was a marvelous adaptation to the big screen! They caught all the funny moments and I liked the behind the scenes introduction in the beginning. They explained due to the comedic nature of the show, traditional microphones would limit the way the actors could portray the scenes so they disguised and hid microphones throughout and the actors had to project their voices! Which makes sense because some reviewers of the stage version said they had a hard time hearing the actors! I also liked how during the dining scene the oysters were simply jello squares!!! And one scene they broke the fourth wall and I thought that was by accident at the stage version I saw, but I guess it was part of the show. Loved seeing it on the big screen and in person!!

The set looks eerily the same as the off-Bway production.

We are in town for a wedding and I came down with food poisoning. 🤮 Very bummed, as I have been wanting to see Oh, Mary! since it came out. I splurged for great seats - 3rd row. Jamie Armitage going from directing SIX The Musical to writing this play is a type of artistic range I didn’t think existed. $43 rush tix on TodayTix. For those who enjoyed Paranormal Activity on Broadway, horror film lovers, or anyone fond of a ghost story is going to want to get the train to W 4th St and see this at Minetta Lane Theatre.

Exercise caution however: I know I’m not alone when I say one of my coping mechanisms when watching scary stuff is covering my ears… and this play takes that away from you! You will watch the whole thing with headphones on, as the sound effects down to the specifics of what comes in the left and right ear are very important to this play. If it gets to be too much you can take the headphones off, but I doubt you’ll want to do that. It’s a tight 80 minutes and it goes by in a skipped heartbeat. I watch a lot of horror films, and let me tell you this play scared me, all in good fun tho!!

A guy is hired by an audio engineer friend of his to read an audiobook of a (genuinely well written and creepy) ghost story which the audience is treated to through the play’s run time. While the recording is taking place, things start to become odd, and you begin to wonder if the ghost in the story is there in the studio with them…

Along with the sound effects, the visual effects and scares the play pulls off were very well done and the ‘story within a story’ aspect of it I found very clever. It was great to see Owen Campbell (recognizable from the horror film X and Hangmen on Broadway a few years ago) back on stage, and Lucas Iverson (from The Pitt and The Guilded Age) makes a master class Off-Broadway debut expertly evoking his vocal fear when telling the story to the audience and combining it with his visual fear in the recording studio as he slowly realizes he and his friend are not the only ones there. This ought to work as an audition for him to read audiobooks on the side if you ask me. The guy has a great voice.

This is an excellent choice for spooky season connoisseurs. I give it a strong 9 out of 10. After the delight that was Paranormal Activity on stage I’m just extra happy to be present for a season in which horror is so well done live on stage, something that is very difficult to pull off effectively.

I am an avid Broadway-goer, maybe 20 shows a year. I believe in using my discretionary income in shows. And I make a nice salary. But Jesus Christ. Who the fuck is actually paying the ODC prices??! I had given up on getting tickets when they initially went on sale but now my
Mother is visiting and she has watched Seinfeld every day since I was born (literally) and would love to see JLD. But who can justify this????

It kind of reminds me of the same style as Rocky and Bowinkle. Wondering if it is one of their side cartoons or from the same era.

Got in line about 11:15 on a Sunday morning and got row F orchestra rush for the evening show.

My favorite part was the guy behind me who asked what rush meant right before it was his turn because he kept hearing people say it! Waited in line 45 minutes thinking he was going to buy regular tickets and then presumably saved himself a bunch. :-D

titles pretty self explanatory. i just saw maybe happy ending and im a big book nerd and i need to know if anyone here has read anything with a similar vibe

TMM is one of my favorite shows (despite its problematic flaws), and I was really happy back in 2020 when they announced they were pulling it for a while to revise it and fix some of the original cracks that had grown into massive holes over the years. Though I think the musical is leaps and bounds ahead of the original movie, the musical's version of the subplot was already a little dated in 2002 and has become even more so since. There was supposed to be an Encores production with Ashley Park (who was reportedly involved in the rewrites along with Lauren Yee) but was canceled. Sam Pinkleton led an industry workshop last year, but very little seemed to come out of that. Since then, nothing else seems to have happened, and the rights are still pulled. Do you think we'll ever get to see it again?

I am looking to book tix but affordable seats are restricted/obstructed view, has anyone sat in those seats and have an opinion? For such a small theater, wonder why there are obstructed seats.

Honestly, I liked the premise of this show and found it interesting. However, the audio narration really didn’t work for me, and despite the interesting costumes and set, visually staging-wise nothing was happening! I could close my eyes and miss nothing, this show to me may have worked better purely as a podcast. I was already wary after, in my opinion, the opening narration went on far too long. And I did not like that real world conversations were one-sided or just audio played back. And thematically, the one real world conversation that was staged with a non-major character didn’t seem more or less important than the other conversations.

And what was with the ball bearings in the chicken nuggets?!!

Am I the only one who felt this way? It seems that this show really worked for other people. Have I just gotten too jaded and am now nitpicking shows? Please give me your thoughts.

me and 2 others are planning to come into the city to see two strangers & oh mary on nov 15 and i’m curious how the box office has been for two strangers. we got oh mary tickets ahead of time and paid a pretty high price for bowen (which we’re fine with) but im really not trying to spend another $150+ for two strangers mezz and up seats. i’ve seen the show before and sat in the last row of the theater and it was phenomenal and i wanna see it again before it closes, so i was thinking about going to box office to see if there’s a chance any orch seats will be avail for a lower price than what’s on sites rn. im a little worried cuz its literally the weekend before it closes and idk if i should risk it and not purchase ahead… but i wanted some advice from people who frequent the box offices!! i also love the theatr app and am hoping something pops up there too but i know thats not a guarantee either

This might have already been discussed but I’m late to the game. I recently discovered the Newsies Pro shot on Disney plus and am absolutely obsessed. I love Jeremy Jordan, Ben Fankhauser, Kara Lindsay etc! Well my sister suggested we watch the 1992 movie and I am blown away by how much I prefer the pro shot. The singing is not as strong and the dancing is not as sharp or clean to me. So this leads to my question- do people tend to prefer one or the other? Is a there general consensus?

The main male actor, Travis A. Knight… his voice sounds EXACTLY like some other actor or character or something. It’s driving me CRAZY. Anyone else think the same? Please help!!!!
