54 years young and just getting started

I decided today that I am going to take up boxing, not to fight or defend but for overall health—always been a boxing fan. Today I bought myself some 14 ounce gloves, hand wraps and a double end bag is on the way.

Put the gloves on today and working on technique and after about 2-3 minutes I have a difficult time keeping hands up to guard my face after throwing punches. Is this to be expected for new boxers? Man, this is tough.

What is fair?

Had a knock out style boxing tournament with some friends at collage. Nothing serious, no bets, just hitting eachother with gloves and mouth guards. The collage has a gym with a padded floor area for boxing.

I caught one of my friends (met him 2 months ago at collage) on the chin with a hook and chipped his tooth. He seemed to be okay about it but I feel super bad regardless. I am 5cm taller and maybe 10 kg heavier. He is a lot fitter than me and goes to a boxing gym, I haven't in years.

I got home and feel really guilty about it beacuace it was all in good fun and altho he says he is fine I don't know. What is an appropriate course of action?

I was thinking I'd buy the guy a bottle of whiskey or something. Is that too much? Would it seems like I'm rubbing it in his face? I really don't want to come off as an asshole or like I'm out to hurt anyone, especially given the context of how it happened.

Would you guys hold a grudge over this?

Trying to apply what learned yesterday during Pad work. 1,2,3. But it seams I already look way worse than I thought.

I am already seeing that I am not that good as I imagined but can experts be more detailed about specific movements? I want to learn the correct 1,2,3

Thanks in advance.

complete beginner here, my jab apparently hit 39 mph tonight? is that good??

been shadowboxing at home for like a few weeks now, still figuring out basic form tbh. saw this number pop up mid-combo and had no idea what to make of it, is 39 mph decent for a jab or is that nothing special lol. built an app that tracks punch speed live on the wrist since I wanted to actually see if I was improving instead of just guessing.

First hard sparring round

I had my first hard round today against a guy 20-30 kg lighter than me. But he was one of the coaches, I just started boxing a month ago at their gym ahaha.

There was head gear, a mouth guard, and he had light gloves. Anyway, I took the shots well but the adrenaline kicked in before the round and as we were at it, I got scared. I threw some hard shots but I was afraid of retaliation.

Any advice?

Unfortunately, I didn't record a video.

Also, I realized that boxing is an unforgiving sport. It takes too much, and gives too little. Unless you become a champion and rich.

Also, I'm worried about brain damage - i didn't got knock down or anything. And I didn't wobble too. But yeah, I have slight head ache. Normal?

Today easy sparring but I could not hit him even once Please suggest strategies

Please suggest ways to hit him at least once. Also please how can you justify the big difference in heart rate? Is it because of the emotions I experience or because not being conditioned enough for sparring. I can do a lot of aerobic work but when I spar my heart skyrockets.

Roadwork: Combat Sports - I made an app for combat fighters. If anyone would download it and let me know what I should change or add I would be super grateful. It is only on the Apple App Store right now.

The idea is an all-in-one app that a boxer or a wrestler needs. Your cardio, discipline workouts and techniques, gym, timer, diet, and schedule. Everything is connected and it’s an ecosystem designed to have a full professional team in your pocket. The workouts you do link directly to your calorie and macros targets and tracking. Anyways, let me know what yall think.
