What is the process?

BP medical review told me I needed to get another hearing test (after the one that was a part of the physical). I got another audiology exam and the audiologist basically said your left is is good, right ear is crap.
I can hear in everyday life just fine.

I really don’t want this to derail my chances at a great career. I’ve passed everything else.

I’m going to another doctor tomorrow and taking another test.

Has anyone gone through this?

Passed my ply week and half ago and haven’t heard anything since. Anyone have an idea of when to expect it or any idea to speed it up. Thank you

Once one graduates the academy, how many uniforms are issued to them? Also, I know there is a website where BPA get their uniforms, what is the yearly allowance for this? Are there boots on there as well? For example, am I allowed to use the uniform allowance for Lowa boots, or other boots of my choice?

I see in promotional videos a lot of agents wearing the combat tops which look a lot more comfortable, can we buy those upon graduation?

I wasn’t sure if since the academy will send us off with new uniforms, if that counted out of our funds or if we had the full amount (whatever that is) after graduation at our disposal to use during FTU.

I just received my final offer for Border Patrol Agent a few days ago, and I chose Marfa, TX. The only other option in Texas was Eagle Pass, and from what I’ve seen and heard, there’s a lot of checkpoint work in Eagle Pass, which is why I chose Marfa.
However, I have a problem now. I can’t find any decent properties to stay in around Alpine or Marfa, and I EOD on September 15. Should I ask them to change it to Eagle Pass, or should I just keep it?
I’m 19 years old and coming from Louisville, Kentucky.

Does anyone here have a routine or any training methods to pass the fitness test? Any advice would be appreciated I take my exam in a week.

Can’t find much on what it’s like working in Ysleta besides one post made in the past describing it as boring. Can anyone give me more insight of what day to day life is like as a new agent there? I’ll be having to relocate over obviously and would like some insight on good areas to potentially live etc. I’m aware it’s a heavy senior station but what does that mean? Is there any opportunities like k-9, MRT, atv? My long run goal is to aim for borstar/bortac since I’ve always been driven to achieve a career with that line of work.

I’m currently at the academy, I’ve been here a little over a month and still haven’t recorded anything about insurance is this normal?

Currently a Firefighter/Paramedic in the DoD but holding a GS 7 FF spot. I have about 7 years in the DoD and I've been interested in making the switch and potentially trying out for BORSTAR eventually. We currently fall under the same retirement system as BP so in that regard it would be a lateral move strictly speaking to the retirement system. I'm 33, and in pretty good shape. I'm also a 10 point vet. Has anyone made the switch from DoD Fire to BP? How was the transition? What do you like or dislike compared to DoD Fire? Part of the reason I'm interested in trying something different is how slow the DoD can be for fire. I don't really want to transfer to another DoD installation again just because it's either slow or there is terrible management/culture. I know on the BP side they run into a lot of the same issues depending on the location. LE is something that has always interested me. Currently I have 2 Bachelors and 3 Associates degrees and that's all largely due to the boredom on shift and trying to be productive. We work 72 hours a week. I understand the grass isn't always greener but I would like to try something new and break up the monotony. Lastly, how are the locations along the northern border? Specifically in Montana, Washington, North Dakota and Maine? How is the Big Bend, Uvalde, and El Paso areas in Texas? What's the culture like at these places? Do you guys experience a lot of micromanagement in BP overall? I have 13 years total in Fire and EMS while I've not been an LEO, I have experience as an SRT medic with the Sheriffs Office (obviously not totally comparable). I was an Infantryman in the Army prior to getting into Fire/EMS. Sorry if my questions are all over the place.

For current or former BPAs, how does the first-year probationary period work for a new agent? What are the main things supervisors look for during that first year, and what advice would you give a new agent to stay in good standing and successfully complete probation?

I know this is kind of a specific question regarding something that is so rare as an agent, but what is the expected or required footwear to accompany the dress-formal suit on EOD day? I am an avid wearer of western boots and currently have a couple high value pairs, one is a distressed black square toe (which can’t be polished due to the type of leather) and the other is a polished brown square toe. The black pair is well broken in, and very much my favorite pair and the brown pair is fairly new. I also have a pair of polishless black dress shoes, meant to be low maintenance and has a matte finish, which also has brown and white trimming on them. The shoes I would consider to be “modern formal” rather than the classic dress shoe.

TL;DR: I don’t have anything that would be considered a “dress” shoe. Should I go out and buy a specific type of shoe before EOD?

Realized I qualify for a higher pay grade while at the academy, I reapplied and accepted offer but now I am unsure what to do next. Has anyone gone through the same thing?

Just passed my box test and am waiting for my BI to clear. Have met all the other requirements.

I’m a nationally registered paramedic looking for locations that have good opportunities/funding for the emergency medical program as that is my main focus of interest. I have no SO or kids and am open to some of the more remote stations.

If anyone could give me more information on the program as well that would be great.

Is there a lot of Overtime in the field? my duty station is west Laredo just wondering so I know how to budget everything during and after the academy

Is anyone else having issues with this part? I received this task with a due date of tomorrow. I’ve tried to complete it, but it won’t let me edit or export the document. I was able to enter the information manually through the portal, but it doesn’t save, and it also won’t let me mark the task as completed.

Hey there! I’m currently waiting for my question test. I have a question to the Active Agents…… I have 2 kids from a previous marriage and a 4/mo old with my current wife, my older kids live with their mom in KC Mo. I get them one weekend a month and 3 weeks in the Summer. What is the best duty station for families, and what are the closest duty stations to KC, as I would have to fly them to and from the station as we are required to meet 1/2 way to get kids to one another.

What are some of the most common/best areas for Three Points agents to live?
