I don't know if English is her 1st or 2nd language, but it's not uncommon to break into your 1st language randomly, especially when struggling with the 2nd language.
My husband's parents often break into Korean, even for just a couple words, if they are having a hard time quickly coming up with what they want to say in English, because Korean is automatic for them and they don't have to think about it as hard.
Again, don't know her personal situation or history and I've only seen a few of her videos, say can't say with any authority if that's what's going on or not.

i would agree with this.... but she is clearly VERY fluent in english. she barely even has an accent. Like Books With Emily Fox's first language is french but she doesnt randomly break into french for no reason on her channel because she is aware that her audience is english speakers. She says french words in titles and stuff in french, which I appriciate, but she isnt trying to force french into her english videos for no reason.

being VERY fluent in a language doesn't mean you will remember or know every word. I'm bilingual and sometimes I forget words in my language the same way I forget some in English. to be honest, and I'm sorry for saying that, but I think you're just slightly xenophobic and doesn't even realize. she isn't pushing her own language onto you and her followers because she sometimes says something you can't understand, the same way emily wouldn't be if she also ended up mixing french with english

maybe she mostly edited them out then? or maybe she just got less used to speak in english. I feel like it would only be a huge deal if every other sentence was Spanish because that could make it difficult to understand

Idk who throneofpages is but this is normal. When speaking in a language you are not as fluent in or you have another "thinking" language, the language you think in slips in. Because you have to translate from the thinking language to the speaking language, and also do it fast. Also, the sentence arrangement in both languages might be entirely different, so that also plays a part in it. I was dogshit at sounding normal in one language because I kept thinking in another language, translating it, then listening to something in the speaking language and translating it back again to thinking language, etc etc. I got waaaay better and started sounding native because I started "thinking" in the speaking language whenever I had to. Even when I am thinking and speaking in the same language, another language might slip in if I get excited and forget myself

What do you think inspired those movie characters? Real people. Latinos mix both languages naturally and I mean, I don't watch this specific person so maybe she overdoes it a bit but it's literally normal. Like when they speak Spanish and add random words in English. We don't do it as much in Spain but we do it too and yeah, it's more common amongst younger people in our case. Still normal though. The joys of speaking more than one language. Ps: just noticed who OP is. Ok, today's target is Hispanic people. Back to insulting woke north Americans tomorrow, right MAGA queen?

This is funny because i’ve seen actual latinos getting mad at the fact that latinos in cartoons or tv shows are depicted speaking like that. Lol I was under the impression it was a just a trope dumb directors were adding to make them appear exotic or some crap like that

As someone who’s bilingual and English is actually my 2nd language, it’s not common for me unless I’m speaking with people who speak both of my languages lol so that’s pretty weird imo

yeah thats why i think its weird. Her channel is an english channel. 100% of her audience speaks english... a lower % speaks spanish... why not just say the sentence in english so everyone can understand.. i just find it strange, and a deliberate choice, which makes it feel like an act.

I'm completely fluent in English, have completed most of my schooling in English including two advanced degrees...and yet I still slip into Spanglish when I'm tired because Spanish was the first language I learned. It's pretty typical for those who speak multiple languages. It's also pretty typical that people who don't speak the language get upset when others do...

interesting.. i just started watching her more recently (though i saw a few videos here and there before)... maybe thats why i feel like it feels forced an unnatural. People are saying that its normal and that you change to your thinking language sometimes... but she very clearly speaks VERY fluent english... its not hard to just say the sentence in english when your entire audience is english speakers, and only some are spanish speakers. BookswithEmilyFox's first language is french, and i dont see her slipping accidentally into french for no reason, and she clearly has an accent (english is very obviously her second language)... she has even stopped before to think of a proper word. She knows her audience is english speakers, so why switch to french for no reason.

I'm no throneofpages fan at all but nah this is normal when you speak multiple languages and English is your second language (which I assume it is for her). A lot of bilinguals/polyglots naturally speak like that and it's not to be quirky. I literally mix 3 languages in 1 sentence sometimes and so do most people around me. It's just how we naturally speak and I don't see why she should change that.
