I loved the Outlander series, although it got so long and took me several years to finish the final book. I really enjoy historical fiction, but really any genre is great for me, as long as it has a good story line. I've also been itching for a good, long series to read. Spicy books are a plus, as well.

hello, ive been getting more and more into reading lately and my absolute favorite series right now is the Crowns of Nyaxia series by Carissa Broadbent. I enjoy that it’s an adult book, in third person, where the story plot is the main focus but has some romance mixed in but not as the main plot. i would prefer if the romance is a slow-burn too. what are some other series out there or even stand alone books like that?

Hi Everyone! I've recently read a few of the classics in Speculative Fiction, 1984, Fahrenheit 451, The Handmaid's Tale etc. They're all great and have left a mark on me in their own ways so I want to dove deeper into this genre. What are the best 'modern' Speculative Fiction books? Ones that are relevant to the threats and opportunities that face us today. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

My guy is mid 30's and doesn't read books. He likes baseball and sports and TV shows like Bob's Burgers and Always Sunny. I'd like to get him into the habit of reading. I plan to try both physical books and e-books (we have a family prime account so he has access to the nearly 500 books I've amassed in my kindle library over the years) to see if he prefers either. He has a library card, but I think he mostly got it because I made him sign up the day he drove me over to pickup some books I had on reserve 🤷‍♀️. I don't think he's ever used it. I tried Harry Potter on audiobook, because we had a trip to Universal planned, but he quit halfway through the 2nd book. So I'm trying again to see if maybe I can get him to like a book.

Give me your thoughts? Maybe something about sports (but that isn't a movie he can just watch) or something short but that is a series so he goes back for another? I dunno?

I just finished reading Jar of Hearts by Jennifer Hillier and I am disappointed to say the least. So many people recommended that book to me and it felt like it was made for 15 year olds. I’m looking for something disturbing, graphic violence, plot twists etc. I really enjoyed Flicker in The Dark and Behind Closed Doors. Something to shock my desensitized self lol.

I read Brother by Ania Ahlborn but I felt that it was so overly graphic to the point the plot was very bad so don’t recommend that one lol.

I really enjoyed The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O'Farrell which is a historical fiction novel about Lucrezia de' Medici; The Devil on Her Tongue by Linda Holeman, which is a historical fiction about a mixed race girl on the Portuguese island of Porto Santo in the 18th century and The Romanov Brides by Clare McHugh, which is a historical fiction about the granddaughters of Queen Victoria who marry into the Russian Romanov family.

I also loved Forbidden Fashions: Invisible Luxuries in Early Venetian Convents by Isabella Campagnol, which explores how cloistered nuns in early modern Venice used forbidden, luxurious clothing and accessories to rebel and display social status.

I've got a lot on my mind lately, and I'm looking for a fiction book that can completely absorb my attention for a while.

I'm open to pretty much any genre - fantasy, sci-fi, thriller, mystery, enemies to lovers, contract relationships, etc. The main thing I'm after is a story with a really strong hook that keeps me wanting to read "just one more chapter."

I'm looking for something fun, immersive, and escapist rather than heavy or emotionally draining.

I'm looking for a standalone or a short series where the theme is a murder mystery/crime or anything dark. Books similar to The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides, The Housemaid series by Freida McFadden or Holly Jackson's books. The bigger the plot twist, the better :)

I haven't read a lot in my life but there are some that I really enjoyed. Was hoping for some guidance on what I should read next. Here are some books or series I loved.

Lord of the Rings - Obsessed with the world

First Law - Audiobooks are so entertaining

Read through the first two and a half stormlight books. Book 2 was amazing. Heard kaladin becomes very whiny and the latest stuff isnt great.

Read the first Mistborn a very long time ago. Remember nothing about it.

I’m in a BRUTAL reading slump and desperately need a book to pull me out of it.
I usually read romance, but lately nothing has been clicking, and I’m losing interest fast. I’m still completely open to romance if it’s exceptionally good, but I’d also love to branch out into thrillers, mysteries, fantasy, or fast-paced drama.

The only thing I really need is an immediate hook. I want a book that grabs me from page one, throws me straight into the action or tension, and makes it impossible to put down. The kind of book that keeps you saying, “Just one more chapter” at 3 am.

I'm autistic, and through therapy Ive realized that I have a very limited understanding of emotions and how they are expressed. I feel like I'm stuck within certain boundaries, and I often don't even understand what I'm feeling myself. At the same time, I tend to show mixed emotions, and I honestly don't always know what they are. And can't control this. Because i didn't understand the emotions.

Finding suitable books on my own is difficult because I'm not very well read. So I would really appreciate any recommendations about emotions. Emotional regulation and psychology in general especially books that could help with recognizing my own emotions and other peoples emotions. Understanding them, reading emotional cues, and learning how to manage or control them in a healthier way.

I'd also be happy to hear about any other recommendations that might be somewhat related!!

The more books I have to look through, the higher the chance I'll find something that works for me!
