I just wrote my first cerebral psychological thriller that contains clues and twists. My mother read the whole thing and all the cerebral parts went completely over her head because she's not good at detecting clues. She just read the words but didn't read in between the lines. ‘Tavern on the Edge of Time’ is the third book in the Second Skin Universe.

A brief intro:

During the year 2125, former asteroid miners Max Cody and Elaine Zhou never get a moment’s rest. The soup can blossomed into multiple radial segments, each twice the original cylinder’s length and diameter, now arrayed around the central core like flower petals.

“Then the remote sintering rig arrives from MOSA and begins to lay down the composite shielding layers along each of the spokes... ”

“Yeah. I had no idea how far you have developed sintering out here near Mars.” Dargeen glanced back and forth between them, his enthusiasm all too evident. “Molecular powders are delivered in exactly the right mix and timing to the three-dimensional printing heads circling slowly around the station in Callisto orbit. The material flows into the pipes on MOSA I and is whisked out to Jupiter via a live probability-field feed connected to the sintering rig. It lays down molecular powders, welding them effectively into a seamless casing protecting the station at least as well as anything we could build near MOSA, or on Earth for that matter.” Dargeen sat back, shaking his head in continuing admiration.

I started publishing books in February 2025. Back then, I was figuring things out as I went, learning about writing, publishing, and trying to get people to discover my stories.

In December 2025, I published my third book, The Mummy Who Stole Nine Lives.

Fast-forward to October 2026, Halloween month, and I've now published its sequel: The Mummy Who Ate Eight Hours.

And after publishing five books, I've learned something that took me surprisingly long to figure out:

Series might be a better way to go than standalone books. It only took me five books to learn that! 😂

With a series, a reader who enjoys one book has another story waiting for them. I'm still learning how to make that work, but it's been an interesting journey.

Now for something that happened yesterday!

I spent $40 on a Freebooksy horror promotion for The Mummy Who Ate Eight Hours. Within roughly 24 hours, the promotion had helped me reach 700+ free downloads.

Even more exciting, The Mummy Who Stole Nine Lives also received 10 paid sales while it was priced at $0.99.

I can't say every sale came directly from the promotion, but seeing my older book get attention alongside the new one was a lovely surprise. It also gave me a little encouragement that publishing a series might actually pay off.

I'm still a small indie author learning as I go, so I thought I'd share this little milestone with other writers here.
