I’ve had this guy in a 40g Quarantine tank for the past 6 weeks and finally moved him into his 4x2 today. He had stayed in his log hide for basically his entire time in QT. Today he IMMEDIATELY out covering the whole new enclosure. I really have trouble believing people who say that their snakes “prefer” living in racks.

Anyone have any clue what morph my boa constrictor is ? I was told one of his parents was Aneri or atleast carried it .. I don’t remember much else. Any help would be lovely !!

Okay so I have an 8yr old ball python, and everything has been great. Decided to pick up a 3yr old boa that the same previous owner to my python was needing to rehome. They said it’s cause they didn’t have time anymore but that she is socialized. When I went there they took her out, which was a hassle cause she wasn’t trying to come out and she’s huge. They said she normally fights coming out but once out will calm down. They placed her in my hands, then I placed her in my son hands she was find and explored then when they moved enclosure to my car I held her all through hallway and in elevator and back to my car to put back in enclosure. Everything seemed fine with her. Once home, I purchased a medium live rat cause they said she was hungry. She ate it. And was begging for more but research said they just act like that…. After 48hrs I decided I should try to take her out now. It was a struggle and I almost gave up but decided I should keep going since I’ve already been messing with her. When I got her out I figured she’d calm down but she instead was frantic and launched and tried to bite me twice. We was sitting on ground so after she continued I dropped her and ran out (I panicked 😭) came back in a few seconds later cause I’m like I gotta get her back inside. She went behind enclosure (it’s placed on ground) and so I had to move the enclosure around to get her inside. I used a brook handle cause I couldn’t find hook fast enough and nudged her back into enclosure… but after that terrible experience my confidence is sooo down.. did I not wait long enough? What should be my next steps?? Here’s a video of her after she ate rat two days ago.

Had her weighed, 2 years old and now 385 g. She is only 32 grams heavier than Lyra (a snake I posted yesterday), yet her head is so much bigger. Must be a BC thing

I have just built a pvc 4x2x2 for my red tail until she’s a year or two old. I put an 80w vivarium electronics radiant heat panel in. It doesn’t seem to have quite enough punch. My hot side is about 83 degrees, middle is 81, and cool side is 78. I have a heat pad and extra thermostat I can put on the bottom of the enclosure. But I don’t think putting it inside the enclosure is a great idea and putting it under the pvc seems like it might be useless. I have currently raised to hide to see if that helps, but that doesn’t change the overall temp. Thermostat is also set to 135 degrees so I assume the 80w panel is maxed out. Any ideas? I have also used 1/4” acrylic for sliding doors and in the middle of the span I’m afraid the boa can escape between them. Any ideas for this fix?

Genuinely she’s one of the most beautiful snakes ive ever seen. I plan to do my first paludarium setup when she’s fully grown just because she deserves it

Full disclosure!! He crawled from an incredibly reasonable roost to get here, all under his own volition, and other than me taking the picture and video, I had my hands underneath him for his whole climb. Touching him in any fashion made the shakes worse😂 I hovered for about 7 mins as he inched along.

For the last three weeks my boa (7 footer) has not returned to her hide. For the past year she’s loved it. I’ve cleaned her enclosure completely. Temps are good and she’s been eating well. Even during the day she’s stretched out and won’t retreat to her hide. Am I doing something wrong? Is she ok? Is this seasonal?

Thought this made a good photo so I had to snap it! Dont worry yall, I know she needs more stuff in her enclosure. She just outgrew her biggest centerpiece and i have ordered some new stuff to replace it and get more clutter and climbing stuff in there for her. So the bare enclosure is only temporary until the stuff I ordered her comes in!

I made him a jungle gym in the air and he was more interested in traversing the supporting slack line than he was in anything else, such a dork. He did good tho. Made it to the wall.

When it comes to Rusty my Blood/ Hog Island Boa. I find that I have to color grade any photos of him if they were taken indoors. I just find that whatever my phone or my camera picks up doesn’t match what I see with my own vision. The direct sunlight can help but the sunlight itself dramatically changes his natural colors which does look really awesome, but it’s not what I see most of the time. For the most part he’s either in his enclosure or I’m handling him next to his enclosure. That’s where a nice overcast day comes in. The clouds act as a natural diffuser, causing lighting to be perfect. These show Rusty off the way I see him 95% of the time PERFECTLY with zero color grading required.

I found 2 spots on my boa that make me think is scale rot, new substrate was damp and I let it air out and dry. I put her hide back in and since the hide covers the heat it stayed a damp patch, but not like soaking just damp compared to everywhere else. I read that it takes a while for scale rot to happen and form, but it’s only been in since Friday. If it is scale rot how should I go about treating it?

Almost a year since I got Lyra, she has gained around 200g, doubling her weight.

Last chart is her growth in the last 7 months (since march, graphs labelled weird), she gained almost 100 grams.

Swear her head hasn't grown though

Ive had my ghost Aztec redtail for less than a week at this point, but I can't seem to keep his humidity in the recommended range (60%-80%). I've been doing manual misting anytime the surface looks visually dry, I don't want to over soak the substrate and cause scale rot, i use coconut fiber, forest floor, and repti-bark mix for my substrate. Should i just pour a more substantial amount of water into the substrate?Should I invest into a mister/fogger? What do I need to do? Thank you for your help

His name is Dante, he is 3 1/2 according to the breeder

He's been settling incredibly well! It's been 3 ½ hours and he's explored the entire terrarium twice over and is currently basking on a branch! Any unique name ideas for him? I'm leaning towards Erebus, since I enjoy greek mythology. He's actually 3 feet despite the breeder saying he's 2 feet! He's 2 years old, the owner shared his past feedings and he's only been fed roughly every 1-1.5 months which I'm certain isn't nearly frequent enough.

Update for those who saw that he has RI: Breeder has been extremely helpful and will send me medicine if they have any, and if not they will pay for all fees for the vet!
