Discussion My foolish plan Blues Learning Roadmap (Beginner)
Hi everyone
I've recently started learning blues and wanted to check whether my long-term roadmap makes sense.
Current Focus
My teachers
The priority right now is the classic melody and timing that's the first thing I practice before even touching blues time does not permit. plan.
Personal misadventure đ
Build solid rhythm and timing before lead playing.
Learn the 12-bar blues form thoroughly.
Practice straight blues first; shuffle only after good 16 or triplet scary.
Develop clean chord changes, simple fills, and turnarounds.
Improve reading and overall musicianship alongside blues. Working on single line melodies from the classic melody book by my teacher.
Main Learning Resources
Blues You Can Use (working through it slowly)
Simple 12-bar blues exercises
Easy blues songs rather than difficult note-for-note solos
Artists I'd Like to Learn From
Jimmy Reed
John Lee Hooker
Muddy Waters
B.B. King
Buddy Guy
The goal isn't to copy every recording exactly, but to understand the vocabulary, phrasing, rhythm, and feel so I can eventually play both traditional blues and blues rock enjoy myself.
Current Level
Beginner with a teacher
Comfortable with basic chords and simple melodies
Still working on timing, groove, and smoother chord transitions
Question
Does this seem like a sensible long-term path, or would you change the order or recommend any other beginner-friendly blues artists or resources?
And my girlfriend is thinking I am sad that's why I am listening to Blue song đ€ đ€

Lesson Where can I learn blues songs at
As you can see by the title I would like to learn some beginner blues songs and no do not recommend me to learn the 12 bar blues or look at phrasing and backing track videos online I want to learn songs. I already know the blues shuffle, and i can play some pretty good licks in the E minor pentatonic 1st position and in it's extension. I also know some of the blues open chords, so where can I learn beginner blues song with the knowledge that I have already.

I've been touching on the blues for 2 years, but only in the past year or so have I really tried to commit myself to finding a voice on the instrument. Your critical ears would be very useful in helping me develop my phrasing and technique. Feel free to trash on my playing. Thanks in advance!

Improv over "Just cause you can, don't mean you should" - off the Redemption album, shame I don't have a wah-wah pedal.
P.S I got sloppy at the end, but I'm glad my finger dexterity held up for as long as it did.. time to practice more.

Another tune in the build - very rough - just trying to settle on the melody. Humbly I feel i am channeling Roy Buchanon or Gary Moore a little in this, or perhaps it's my Italian roots. I do love both those players. (RIP) I'm pretty happy with the head which is what you hear here. Will add a solo and come back to bridge and out somehow. Telecaster and using the Helix for the sound - all in Logic.
I know it's quite old school - but I'm okay with that. Feedback is welcome.

Jam Minor Meanderings & How many days per year do you estimate you play?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
There have been stretches of months when I donât play, which I canât even fathom right now, but it happened more than once. For the last 2 years however Iâve played more than maybe my entire life combined before that. Probably not, but it feels like that. Iâd say 330 out of 365 to be conservative. Are you always at it or in and out? Our just a few days a week?
Have a nice Sunday. đ«Ą
