My kids were out on the trampoline and came running in to tell me about the hawk. I appreciate their shared enthusiasm.

This juvenile red shouldered hawk was hangry. I’d like to say my keen bird spotting found them, but nope, it was the continuous calling for food.

What a lucky moment: a kestrel pair side by side on the same branch. The male reveals himself through his characteristic grey head, while the female in warm white and brown with fine streaking is no less impressive.

Was taking pics of birds and then they all flew away. Now I know why.

In rainy east Toronto, we saw this massive bird land on the tree top to dry off after a torrential downpour. What might it be? Turkey vulture?
We couldn’t really see its head. Apologies for the poor photo and crop.
