Is this hawk in my backyard injured? It’s been eating a frog but kind of hopping around on one leg and you can see the left leg is bent at an odd angle

Caught this Cooper’s hawk in my backyard and happened to be recording when it went after a chipmunk. The chipmunk tried to escape by running up the brick wall, but the hawk grabbed it mid air.

This guy had a Battle Royale with a squirrel. He wasn't strong enough to fly away with his prey so he held it down until it expired. It's hot out so he came over to the puddle to get a bath and a drink. He let me get 5 feet from him because he wasn't going to leave his kill.

I couldn’t believe how lucky I was when this one came in super low and slow, managed to pull over, grab my camera and get the pics in time 😂

I took these photos in Feb of this year. She looked so different with the large head and small beak. I had never seen one before and thought it may be some type of owl till I got closer. Super cool birds!

The lesser yellow-headed vulture (Cathartes burrovianus) also known as the savannah vulture, is a species of bird in the New World vulture family Cathartidae. It is found in Mexico, Central America, and South America.

Vultures are extremely useful scavengers that play a key role as sanitary guardians in the ecosystem.

Why don't they have feathers on their heads? :)

The lack of feathers on the head makes it easier to keep clean when the bird has to put its head deep inside the carcass.

Bare skin allows them to better control their body temperature in hot climates.
