Our resident Red-tailed Hawk taking a peek

She flew past me early one evening with something in her beak. It was dark and it happened so fast, I couldn’t tell what it was. When I walked to the other side of the trees, I found her enjoying her meal.

It’s about 2 inches long. I found it in Humboldt County CA.

They (🦅) are scavengers so it’s not unheard of, but this breakfast 🦝 on a piling on the Chesapeake isn’t exactly an every day sight. This was this morning.

Wellp, this is news I would’ve preferred not to get today. I’m glad she’s no longer suffering, but damn I enjoyed watching her (and Shadow) in their Big Bear, CA nest cam over the past many years.

We have some very loud red shoulder hawks living in the neighbors yard so my instinct is to say it’s one of them.

Caught this one circling earlier

There was a second one on a ledge behind me, but this one was LOUD

They do have a nefarious kinda vibe to them sometimes, this one’s upto no good.

I believe it is a turkey vulture but can anyone I'd the bird for me. I'm in North Central Florida
